Jesus loves you over MK

Are you serious??

Yes, I am serious...This person has been described as a nut...and he is flying over Disney World? That would be of great concern to me. As pointed out he is apparently not as close as he looks, so I guess there is not a security issue for Disney, just a judgment issue. If indeed he has written profanities and bigoted remarks in the sky for heavens sake (pun intended) his permit should be revoked. He must at least have a permit, right?

The "No-Fly Zone" (which is really a temporary flight restriction) at WDW is a ridiculously small area. Yes it only goes up to 3000 feet AND the radius is only three miles from the center of the Seven Seas Lagoon. http://tfr.faa.gov/save_pages/detail_3_2122.html

Anyway...I have the seen the skywriting and who cares.

Just curious if "Allah loves you" or "Budda love you" etc would be allowed..

I wouldn't care about that either. How exactly do your propose them stopping the skywriting? Wouldn't that be a violation of the First Amendment?

Yep, he does it all the time. I've seen that message plenty of times when I worked at EPCOT.

First of all, the guy isn't a nut. He has very strong religious beliefs and has found a way to share his beliefs. You don't have to share them, but he has the right to do this.

Second, he does the sky writing all the time. It is not just during Gay Days. I see it at least once a week.

In truth, he is not flying over Disney property. The writing can be seen for many miles. When I go outside my house, it appears to be directly overhead. I'm sure it isn't, it just looks that way. He also does really nice smilie faces.

Personally, I don't see the harm. The guy has the money and there certainly could be a lot worse messages than "Jesus loves you". On many days, half the message has blown away before he even completes it. It certainly doesn't bother me.

He does it sometimes when it's not Gaydays too. My DD was starting to read what he wrote, when I realized it wasn't so nice, I distracted her. Normally, we see the Jesus Loves You messages, but he branches out to bigotry on occasion. I also wondered how he gets around the No Fly zone. If he can get that close, couldn't other planes with planes that skywrite?

I'm not doubting you, but I will say that I have never seen anything that I would consider bigotry written. Maybe it is a matter of opinion, but most of the time it is simply "Jesus loves you" or "Jesus saves". I see his writing all the time. Maybe it bothers folks who are not Christians. :confused3

Because someone on an internet bulletin board has called him a nut, it is so??? Sounds like flawed intelligence to me.

Many have said that they have not seen the derogatory skywriting (two have). And what were the derogatory statements, derogatory to whom?

Regardless, we'll suspend his first amendment rights?? That's what you want?

In the 2 years I've been living down here I've never seen him write anything even close to derogatory and we see him all the time.

He's a 62 year old Roman Catholic who likes to use his time and money to sky write about God, he's not hurting anyone.

But an anonymous internet bulletin board poster has proclaimed him a nut, and subsequently, a threat to society. It has to be so, doesn't it???

I've seen him every trip that I can remember in the past few years. rarely do I ever see the whole message. Usually just the Jes... or a ...ves y...

If I have followed the train of this thread, the deragotory stuff was written on posters that the Holy Smoke guy holds and displays on the ground during Gay Days at WDW. The skywriting is always something simple along the lines of "Jesus Loves You".

We see the same thing in Atlanta on Pride weekend. There is always someone on all the major street corners wearing a sign and trying to tell everyone they are going to hell in a handbasket.

Whatever floats your boat. To each his own. Wait, I feel a song coming on...

You say po-tay-to, I say po-tah-to
You say to-may-to, I say to-mah-to
Let's call the whole thing off

Okay, back to your regularly scheduled debate. :rolleyes1

If someone used their own money, time, and resources to do it and did not violate the no-fly zone, I don't see why not.

People would probably say the same thing that they do now: "Man, that must cost a lot of money"

Free speech and all that. I just roll my eyes and go on about my business.

his freedom of speech doesn't trump mine, every time I see the writings I consider the guy a total whack-job.

That's completly different than when other posters suggest he should have his rights taken away...

Or when they declare him a threat to society because they disagree with his peaceful religious beliefs.
