Jesus loves you over MK

After all, as I've said, people don't get this upset about people who promote their favorite band or even something like WDW.

There's a HUGE difference! People don't BELIEVE in Disney World or whatever band it is that they love. It's just something they're into. You can go around wearing a band's t-shirt and no one will care. You can go around wearing a Jesus shirt and no one will care! However, we're talking about some pretty radical people here. People who believe that if you don't believe in Jesus, you're going to hell. If you don't convert to Christianity, you're going to hell. If you don't let them harvest your soul (:lmao: it's like Supernatural! I can't wait for that to come back next week!), you're going to hell.

If you tell someone, "I don't like your favorite band. Their music isn't for me," they aren't going to tell you you're going to hell if you don't start listening to it.

All I'm talking about is this topic in this thread. Some guy who writes 3 words in the sky. I don't want anyone in my face either.

The skywriter doesnt write that people will go to hell if they dont believe in Jesus,he just writes the Jesus loves them.

Actually there are a few bands out there with a fanbase so rabid that yes, they do believe in the band as if the band was God, and follow them blindly. Dir En Grey and Prussian Blue come to mind, and I'd say Marilyn Manson is right up there pretty close as well.

KoRn, Tool, and Slipknot to an extent, but as the bands have matured their fan base has too, and it's settled into a more traditional "I really like you but I'm not jumping off a cliff for you" relationship.

Then I guess you haven't read the thread because that's what people are saying. I stated earlier that I think his writing about Jesus and God over Disney is ridiculous, and instead of anyone respecting my opinion I was told that my soul should be "saved"... or harvested :lmao:

And you've responded to these same posts so I know you've been reading.

has Marilyn Manson disbanded? never was a big fan, but I haven't heard anything lately.

Unfortunately, no. He's been on tour with Slayer this summer. There's a nice combination.

I think maybe you are confusing me with other posters.

I am talking about the skywriter and his 3 words. I don't advocate aggresive people who won't take no for an answer when it comes to converting people to Christianity. I'm talking about my right to express myself, and in the process this guy who skywrites as well.

I was flipping through stations the other day and 'the beautiful people' was on. I wondered what had happened to them, thanks.

I digress, back to the skywriting....

I know that you never said that, I was saying that I was responding to those people, and saying that there's a difference between religion and music when it comes to what others were saying.

Yes but numerous people here have said that they feel offended by it. Fitswimmer asked why it is acceptable to put up a message which people feel offended or excluded by. The answer given on the thread was because the message is sooo very important. Why is it important? Because anyone who doesn't accept Jesus is going to burn.

Now maybe the skywriter doesn't actually think his message is important in that way. Maybe he just likes doing it. But then we come back to Fitswimmer's question--isn't it rude to put that message up there when we know that it is in fact offensive to people or they do feel excluded by it?

In any case, as I said in a previous post, it's extremely hard to buy the idea that this man puts so much time and effort into the sky writing, but doesn't buy into some kind of view that he's proselytizing. His website, in fact, seems to indicate that this is what he is doing.

I could care less either way if he writes it or not. I probably wouldn't even notice it to be honest but I think if something offends a person it's because they chose to let it offend them. You can choose to be offended at the phrase Jesus Loves You or you can choose to continue on your day knowing who you are and what you believe.

JMHO of course.

These same people would have been offended by Jesus, Himself.

If they can't handle "Jesus Loves You" they can't handle the Truth.

They didn't turn AWAY from Christianity because of some skywriting -- they were already running in the opposite direction.

If only God knows the human heart, how can you know that they were "already running in the opposite direction"?

The only time it would bother me is if I was having a very special gathering, such as a wedding or vow renewal, and it showed up in my pictures.

Since it is not my 'truth', I don't want it in my pictures for years to come.

People's souls are God's business, and God sends us as harvesters into the field. We are our brother's keeper. :)

Please don't harvest my soul. It is blooming just beautifully just the way it is.

If that is the case though, then I must be obliged to harvest your soul to my side, 'cause as you said, we are our brother's keeper.

True, but as a Christian I believe that to model my life after Jesus I must Love others as I love myself. If I truly want to share the love that I believe Jesus has shared with me, then I have to consider the needs and feelings of others.

If speaking openly about my faith will cause someone else to be offended, hurt their feelings or be turned off to religion in general-then I need to come up with another way to share it. Maybe by my example someone may come to a similar belief to mine, maybe not-but at least I won't have caused hurt, anger or offense.

It's not about three words in the sky, really. It's about a method of spreading the Gospel which seems to me to alienate as many people-if not more than it converts.

I agree with your general thought but I still say it is a choice to be offended instead of letting it "go". That was my whole point. You can be offended or you can not be offended...it's really your own choice and nothing more.

Oh, I agree, but there is also responsibility on the side of the Offender. If you know your words or actions are going to hurt or offend, and you go ahead and do it anyway, don't you bear some responsibility for the hurt or offense you cause?
