Guess I should start out with a cast of characters for those of you who don't know me!

Me - Jessica
DH - Lin
DS5 - Dallas

A little back story as to how this trip came about. DH has worked at walmart for the past LONG 9 years! He finally decided to bite the bullet and change jobs! He gave walmart a 2 week notice and was starting his new job the monday after christmas, so that gave him christmas week off. :cool1:

Working retail it is unheard of to have that week off. I am used to not seeing him at all except for a few hours christmas morning. So this was a nice change. He decided he wanted to go to disney and so I only had a week to book the trip. Dallas asked to stay at Pop Century, but they were booked. With the free dining promotion and other great deals I was not surprised. We could have done free dining at a moderate, but pricing it out it wasn't really free at all. It was as if we were paying for it and an extra $10 a night for a nicer room. So we went with a value, room only deal. Oh, there also were no reservations to be had at Chef Mickey's, LTT or in Japan. Our must do's if on the dining plan and usually we do lunch, but nothing.

I booked the sports but Dallas then asked for music, so I called back to change it and she offered movies. I decided we would take that instead and requested the Mighty Ducks. I am not one to usually request anything but he has been into hockey lately. He has never seen the movie and doesn't even know that a movie exists, but I thought he would like the hockey part of it. Which he did. Hmm, I am wordy without pictures!

Day 1 - Friday, December 19th

Dallas has school first and his class party at 9 am. Lin and both went and I enjoyed it. I spoke with his teacher and she said they weren't doing anything in the afternoon so I decided to pick him up around noon to leave getting us there about 3 hours earlier then if I waited for school to let out. They had sent home a note talking about early release and the different procedure they would use since so many kids would be checked out after the christmas parties so I decided I guess it wasn't a big deal.

A few school party pictures just because. His teacher sent a home a note that a lady makes sweatshirts for the kids if we want and send one in, so I did. That meant he wasn't going to get to wear his Grinch outfit, I thought, but it all worked out in the end. You'll see shortly!

I was pretty intrigued by the painting with qtips! I have never seen it done before and worked great for the kids and practically no mess or clean up!

100_8770-1.jpg

I think his friend next to him is the only one who didn't wear his sweatshirt. He had one made though so not sure why he didn't wear it. They all looked cute matching.

I had nothing packed as I had stayed up late the night before making us some last minute shirts. I specifically didn't make Dallas a disney christmas custom since we weren't going this year. LOL! Silly me! Once we got home from the party I packed and asked Lin to get this or that. He was pretty helpful and got to see how much work it takes just to pack the car. I had in my mind what I was taking so packing was pretty easy. After finishing we left to pick up Dallas from school. Got there a little after 12 and by the time we stopped and got gas and got back on the road it was almost 1 pm. A bit later then I had hoped. I had no idea Lin's gas tank was on empty, but should have known.

I don't usually take a picture driving in, but did for some reason tonight. I knew it wouldn't come out, but still did.

100_8773.jpg

It was late and dark when we got there, somewhere close to 9 pm. We checked in, walking down the red carpet first. I thought that was a cute touch out front.

100_8775.jpg

100_8778.jpg

I always do the checking in part and Lin watches Dallas. He took some pictures of the lobby, but he never takes pictures so they aren't that great.

Here is Dallas with his new friend. He was hoping to see the friend the next day but never saw him again. Big surprise there! :rotfl:

100_8783.jpg

We went in the shop for a few minutes and Dallas tried on some mickey ears. He has been liking them lately but never wants to wear them and always picks the most expensive pair. He never asked for any so I didn't offer to buy them.

100_8785.jpg

We got to the room and I decided to unpack. I thought my suitcase looked pretty cute all packed so snapped a quick picture. Lin's shirt are all sitting under ours so you can't see them.

100_8786.jpg

I hope my disboutiquer friends out there enjoy the picture! Especially since I didn't share most of the outfits before we ended up leaving!

Here is what Dallas and Lin do while I unpack.

100_8790.jpg

Dallas found the channel playing old disney cartoon shorts and of course Lin wasn't interested so plugged in the dvd player. I will give him a little credit as he unpacked his coffee pot so he could make him some coffee!

I loved having the hooks on the wall and so hung up all our bags together!

100_8791.jpg

We went to sleep around midnight and had an exciting day ahead of us tomorrow.

We weren't sure where we were going yet because my mom and her husband were meeting us there and we were going to discuss it with them.

So, where did we end up going first???

Great start Jessica! Your suitcase looks great--I am also the only one who unpacks. John will unpack his stuff--but never the kids. I don't think he'd do it the way I'd like it anyways!

Well, I didn't realize I already uploaded these pictures! So, let's get on with our day!

Day 2 - Saturday December 20th

We woke up fairly early, about 7 am, but since I didn't know where we were going we couldn't get dressed yet. An online friend and fellow disboard member were staying at ASMu and so I gave her a call a little after 9. We decided I would meet them at the bus stop on their way out! So, Dallas and I threw on some clothes to meet them and saw her adorable kids, all done up in customs! They were so cute. It was a quick fly by meeting though as the bus happen to pull up right as we all got there.

After returning back to the room I called to find out where my mom was. They were just checking in (at Carribbean Beach) and would be on their way shortly. They said Univeral to see the Macy's Holiday Parade so we finally could get dressed! If you don't want to see the parade or Univeral feel free to skip this day!

Lin trying to get Dallas' hair to stay down. He doesn't do well with short hair but the barber chopped it so we had no choice. I can do a California spike with it but he HATES his hair sticking up anywhere.

After parking at Universal

100_8793.jpg

Why, yes, his stroller matches his outfit! LOL!

My mom and Richy.

100_8794.jpg

Guess he didn't get the note about NO ugly tshirts! Seriously! I have a thing about pictures and like coordinating, but I am fine with others, but this shirt! ACK!

We parked in the Spiderman section. I have never seen so many people going into Universal, but this is a pattern thoughout this trip we'll soon see. I expected the crowds but it was late by the time we got there, almost 11.

100_8795.jpg

100_8796.jpg

Dallas liked the moving sidewalks. I like the way Universal is set up. Makes it easy more or less to get to the park without having to fold up everything and get on tram, monorail or ferry boat!

100_8797.jpg

There was an orchestra of some sort playing at City Walk so we stopped for a second to listen. I took a picture by a cute window with some Grinch things!

100_8798.jpg

When I made this outfit last year I was hoping to hit Universal in May, but I knew it would be too hot for jeans. We ended up going to California instead and I figured he would never wear it to the park, but he had work it Christmas Eve. I am glad it still fit (most will fit for 2 years, although never perfect since the 1st time they are big and by the following year a bit small).

100_8799.jpg

I was trying to take alot of pictures because it often seems we hardly have any pictures from our trips.

Great start Jessica! Your suitcase looks great--I am also the only one who unpacks. John will unpack his stuff--but never the kids. I don't think he'd do it the way I'd like it anyways!

Well, I should be honest I guess. I wouldn't like the way Lin would unpack so need for him to do it! But he could atleast talk to me while I did it!

Wonderful start Jessica!! Your suitcase looks adorable, I can't wait to see everything on.

I too thought the red carpet was a nice touch. I meant to go back and get a pic, but ended up chasing after my wild 3 and totally forgot.

Oh Rusty is the same way, he lets me do all of the packing and unpacking. That's okay though, he wouldn't do it to suit me anyway. LOL

ohhh fabulous start to the TR!!! MORE PLEASE!!!!

and why do men always tune out during unpacking!

Lori

Jessica, it was so nice meeting you!! I wish we had been able to talk for a little longer. We were running late that morning and my bunch was antsy to get to the park.

Too funny about your mom's friends shirt. I totally understand about wanting every one to look nice for pics.

I can't wait to hear more about your trip.

So, it is already late enough as we are entering the park. Nearing 11 am! :scared1: I wasn't too happy about that, especially since this was our only day for Universal and Dallas just loves the 2 parks! I also knew the parade was a must and I was making sure I had a good spot!

We have our tickets out and going through the turnstiles. WELL, I go through, the guy scans Lin's ticket THEN Dallas hands him his. He says it isn't valid! WHAT! :scared1: :scared1:

I said, WHAT! and he said it shows ticket is not valid. That is all he said. He told me to go over to guest services and they can scan it and tell me why. Now, this ticket is OLD! I had 1 ticket left when we went last year or so but it had been bought about 3 years prior to that even. It had 1 day because I bought 3 the first time but didn't end using it for Dallas our first trip. The other 2 tickets my aunt gave me and they were super old too, but same as my mom had, purchased at the same time. No issues with those.

I go over to the guest services line and my mom ends up coming over. The boys stay by the gate. Someone is near the end of the line and I tell him the situation. I thought maybe somehow I had grabbed the wrong ticket and it was one that had 2 days used so I really just needed to buy another ticket. I wasn't thinking there was an error on their part, although I was confused as to why I would have had the wrong ticket since ours had our names on them! The guy tells me if I want a ticket to just go get in line, it will go MUCH faster.

We walk over and there are a gazillion people in front of us, yes, really a gazillion. We wait and finally get up there. My mom tells me to question them anyways, so I did. She scans it and completely confused at the ticket window. Calls over 2 supervisors after chatting for a minute. No one has any idea why it won't work, it clearly shows 1 day used and that it is a 2 day. First they thought it was expired, but quickly saw it was non expiring!

SO, yep, you guessed it. Sent me back to the line I WAS in and the guy told me to get out of! She said their computers show more and just to go over there and see if they could help me. I was a bit relieved because his ticket was going to be $90, but also annoyed since by this time it has been a good 45 minutes!

We get in line again at Guest Services. The line is longer then I don't know! So we stand there and stand there and stand there. I finally decided to go ask the guy at the gate what the ticket said, we had been standing there over 30 minutes at that point and no workers in sight. So we get back in his line and he pulls me around the gate to show me, but it also shows only 1 day used (he didn't do this the first time). He finally decides since I had my ticket and I told him how long it had been (although he knew it was a while) to let me in the park to go to guest services inside where the line would be MUCH shorter!

There 4 people in front of me now, but 4 workers. I finally get up and the lady looks at it, says something about the computer systems changing and it thinking that non expiring tickets expired and prints me out a new one! All this in less then a minute! We chatted of course and I told her how relieved I was since we had been waiting now over an hour and half to get in the park! She said she would print out 3 front of the line passes for 5 people (our party size) and that would help make up a bit of time. I thought that was so sweet and gladly let her know we would appreciate them. Oddly enough this whole time I never got aggitated!

She ends up saying she'll print out 15 single ones since Dallas isn't tall enough for some of the roller coasters! Works for me! I go back to the gates and get the rest of the clan. WELL, yep, my mom's finger will not scan to let her in because her hands are too clean! The guy asked if she was a nurse. I guess it is hard to get a finger print on their machines (or scan I should say, it is not a print) from super overwashed hands! Here are a few pictures of ordeal!

100_8800.jpg

100_8801.jpg

I think his name was Louis. He was the sweetest guy though! They ended using Richy's finger scan for my mom's ticket. I couldn't wait to try and go in the other park later today and see what happened!

We went in Islands of Adventure first.

Finally inside we hit The Hulk first. We were done quite quickly since we had the front of the line passes. Just Lin and went. Dallas still is not tall enough and still not happy about it.

Then we hit Spiderman since he wanted to go no a ride. Once we were done it was well past lunch time and I was starving! We walked toward Circus McGurkis to eat! A few years ago they had the best Roast Beast special (from the Grinch) at christmas. I was hoping they would have it again, but no such luck. This is just a counter service place but we have never had a bad meal here. I got a chicken ceasar salad and it was delicious!

Here are a few quick pictures I snapped on our way. I wasn't waiting for the perfect pictures, so there are lots of "people' in my pictures this trip!

If you have never seen Suess Landing at Christmas it is super cute! I have always loved the Grinch though so that probably has alot to do with it. Dallas is doesn't like the Grinch at all and in fact told me last year he wouldn't wear the outfit. He finally decided he would though. I forget why, but I am sure I bribed him. I was hoping he would do his picture with him but I knew he wouldn't and never even tried.

After lunch Dallas wanted to go play in the little play area they have. So off we went.

My mom doesn't usually play along with anything, she is more about clean and proper so this is a rare picture!

100_8811.jpg

Oh, and a quick weather note! It was 80 this day and always seems to warm when I have jeans and long sleeves planned. I have finally learned, and usually don't do long sleeves now a days, but the jeans were made. He was fine though with them on. We couldn't have asked for a nicer day.

Next we got in line for the little train thing! I couldn't imagine waiting in the real line as it was over 60 minutes long, we waited about 25 in the front of the line part. I was trying to get a nice picture of his outfit, but this is what I get now a days when I ask for a picture.

We really needed to start heading towards Universal at this point but Dallas loves the little unicorn rollercoaster so I figured we would hit it quickly first. The maps never gave a time for the Macy's Parade and the one worker and I had also read said dusk. Off to find the rollercoaster!

Hey, wait! Where is it? I finally look at the map and don't see it on it. They are building a Harry Potter something or other and we assume that they have all that area blocked off so head on to Jurassic Park River Ride. Dallas has never gone on this and doesn't really like dinosaurs but I told him he would like it! Which I think he did. He expected to see a big dinosaur at the end because he knows how the Dinosaur ride is at the AK.

I was a total dork and we took ponchos, mainly since I had on jeans and so did Dallas and by now it is getting late, around 4, assuming the sun will set about 5. Glad we did. We just put them over our jeans, but it was nice to not be soaked.

So, then what we were thinking when I agreed to take Dallas on the Wassa whatever Falls ride. He again, had never been and I remembered how fun it was and knew he would love it. I also remembered that there is now way to get off that ride NOT being soaked. So, we took the ponchos, knowing they would only help a bit.

The guys in line laughed and did let us know we would still be wet. I thought that was nice. We survived pretty well, I thought! I totally forgot about the water shooting at us at the end and taken off my hood and Dallas' by then. We didn't even get that wet on the big hill, but had gotten alot on one of the little hills. Well, I'll share this picture just because.

100_8832.jpg

My hair was totally soaked and my shirt too since I had taken off my hood and let open where I was holding the poncho closed. This is AFTER I have already dried off as much as possible. This is also the only picture I have of Dallas and i together really and wanted a cute picture with our shirts.

Cindy Lou Who was a big hit! Quite a few noticed the shirt and I just enjoyed in general knowing that our pictures would be cute. Too bad there aren't any of the family or even really the 2 of us! :headache:

The sun stayed shining all of about maybe 10 minutes! Then started going down! I had thrown in mine and Dallas' long sleeve shirts and glad I did! So we did a quick change shortly but I did put our wet shirts back on on top.

On with the show! About 4:30 and we are finally going into the other park. Finally a time stated for the parade too! 5 PM! Thank goodness we made it over quickly and no issues going through the gate.

We skipped quite a few rides at IOA but we'll survive. We skipped the Carousel, Cat in the Hat, One Fish, the Dualing Dragons and Flyer thingy's. Dallas loves the flyers but that would have wasted our entire day waiting in that line!

Entrance to US.

100_8834.jpg

100_8836.jpg

We quickly found a seat on the street and Dallas quickly fell asleep laying on the concrete using me as a pillow. The picture is on my mom's camera and not sure I'll ever see it. I was bored and so was just snapping pictures of nothing!

100_8837.jpg

100_8838.jpg

I was the one who wanted to go to US to see the Macy's Parade. My family is not big on parades but they do like US and were happy to go along.

Please skip this part if you don't want to see the parade. I more or less took a picture of each thing since I can't take a picture of one and have a non complete book of pictures of the parade!

Great TR so far!!! :) But may I ask- where did you get the Wall-E bag in the pic in post #3??? I am totally in love with it!!!!

Awesome report so far! I love hearing about Universal because that is one we don't do too often. Looks like Dallas had a great time and I love the boutique outfits! ;)

I agree...the shirt needs to go...only a nice shade of blue with Jimmie Johnson on it works for me!:lmao:

Great start! Can't wait to read more!:goodvibes

LOL!

Great TR so far!!! :) But may I ask- where did you get the Wall-E bag in the pic in post #3??? I am totally in love with it!!!!

Yep, came from the disney store. It is a reusable shopping bag and was $2.50. I got it probably around October but know as of the beginning of December I still saw Wall E ones.

Awesome report so far! I love hearing about Universal because that is one we don't do too often. Looks like Dallas had a great time and I love the boutique outfits! ;)

Thanks for the compliments. We love Universal but only go every couple of years probably. Kind of odd to have that first in my report on the disboards!

Great start! Can't wait to read more. Your applique skills are AMAZING!

Thanks! We all know your skills are just amazing! And your Cindy Lou blows mine away!

Hi Jessica...I love the report so far! I dont know how you stayed so calm waiting in all of those lines at US and it wasnt your fault afterall. Thank goodness they gave you some front-of-line passes. At the very least. That Grinch outfit is so adorable! The parade was wonderful!
