I like this one the best. I think the other choices overwhelm you, with you being so petite I think less is more.

I love the one with the purple sash. It really defines your waist, and the whole dress is general suits your frame beautifully.:thumbsup2

I really like this dress on you. I think the sash with the flower and beading is interesting and defines your waist, and I like the cap sleeves option in the first picture. I like it because it's unique but classic, and it works well with your petite frame. Beautiful!

Congrats!!! I just wanted to stop in and say hi! The dress that you liked that doesn't come in petites was my dress!!! It's a great dress! :goodvibes

How long ago did you work in Fantasyland?

Thanks!

I did one eight month internship in 2004 in Fantasyland attractions. I started out in the Pooh Complex (Pooh, Snow, Teacups) and then cross trained) the Philhar Complex (Philhar and Dumbo.) We were actually the fiey cross trained interns on other complexes. I cam back in 05 and 06 to do entertainment internships (also 8 months a piece) and Fantasyland recertified me on my old rides plus they cross trained me on the Small World Complex (Pan, Small World, Carousel) so I could pick up shifts. So by the time I was done, I knew all the rides in Fantasyland.

Michelle sent me a mega e-mail of information, so now I have to sit down with Aaron and sift through it all. That may not happen for a week or so as this weekend is Dry Run for Worlds of Fun and next weekend is our opening weekend.

Good luck with all your planning. Pam Pearce was my consultant and she was great! Very "on the ball."

Also good luck with finding a teaching job. My fiance and I are also teachers so I feel your pain. What subject does he want to teach? We are both science geeks. Luckily I've been offered a position next year in the district, but the other new chemistry was not rehired. It's such a scary time to be a teacher right now.

(PS Nice pet names)

I think dress 2 and dress 3 are the most flattering on you. I wouldn't do the sash on dress 2 though. Being on the shorter side you want to create a long visual line, things like sashes tend to cut people in half. If you really want color in your dress I would look for an A-line option that has the color incorporated, I know Alfred Angelo has a number of dresses that fit that bill. I would also stay away from big ball gowns as they tend to make a bride look shorter. That doesn't mean you can't have a dress with some poof to it, but I think you will really find an A-line to be universally flattering on you now and as you continue to lose weight.

Also, did you step off the block to get an idea of how the dress will look when you alter it? Just something to keep in mind the next time you go dress shopping.

I also had Pam as my Sales Consultant and she was great. Always very prompt at answering emails and so nice and friendly too. I really had a great experience with her.

Good luck with your planning!

He wants to teach secondary social studies, but is not athletic in any way. It seems like everywhere he applies for wants him to coach. I hate how just because it is the least tested subject, it has become a dumping ground for coaches. He has been subbing a lot for sped, and the people he sub for said he should consider getting his sped cert. He took the PRAXIS last month I believe. We know he passed the multiple choice, and the essay results should be coming out soon. I think that will help a lot. At least get his foot in the door and then he can move to social studies later if he wants.

I did see them off the block. The one thing that's disappointing was I thought they all (except number one) looked fairly decent in person but when I see the photos, I hate how I look. They don't really make dresses for shot fat brides, lol. Strapless seems to really be the style these days. Aside from the church having an issue with strapless, I just don't think they are flattering on my body. They had two dresses with sleeves, but both looked pretty bad.

Oh well, this is why we're starting early, to have enough time to find something and get it altered since I know whatever I do will probably have to be drastically altered. (At least DB has petite dresses which will help.) I do want to look at some other bridal shops in this area, but being new, I'm not sure what all there is. I will say, I like DBs prices. Some of the dresses were $399. I think one may have been $299. I want a pretty dress, but I don't want to spend a whole month's salary and then some! I like the show "Say Yes to the Dress!" and they have some gorgeous dresses, but it seems like you can't go below $1,000 there (and that's at the lowest end!). I'm worried that's what local shops will be like- way too much!

Michelle e-mailed me again and we're setting up a phone appointment so that we don't have to play phone tag. What all did you talk about with your first consultation?

I used to work in Tomorrowland, but I think my cousin worked in Fantasyland the same time you did. Do you know Brad? Oh, I think maybe Ricky went over there around that time also!?? Just curious!

Brad definitely sounds familiar. I'm not sure about a Ricky. I'm much better wtih faces than I am with names.

Here is a picture of Brad!

I'm not trying to hijack your thread! Sorry if I'm annoying you :goodvibes

No, it's fine! I thought Brad was the one from England, but I didn't want to say that and find out I was completely off base. It's fun to reminisce and see the faces of people I haven't seen in several years. Brad was a trainer and I think a coordinator when I was there. Very nice, but also tended to give off a serious air.

I talked to Michelle Gilhooly on the phone today. She was very nice. She gave me the basic overview of prices and some of the restrictions. I had mentioned on the phone to the other person I talked to that I was interested in possibly hosting the reception at the Contemporary (since Aaron loves it) or at Rock 'n' Rollercoaster Courtyard.

Now I know why I never got an answer to my RnR Courtyard thread. All receptions there have to start 1.5 hours after park closing. On nights with Extra Magic Hours they cannot have it. Disney can change the park hours at any time (as I well know from working there) which could then interfere with your reception. She definitely did not sound positive.

She recommended the Nutcracker Ballroom at the Contemporary. She said that it is set up more for corporate outings than weddings- not as traditionally fancy as the Grand Fla. It has an attached patio that would be great for the cocktail hour. I like the photos she sent me. It's not as fancy as the Fla, but I think the space suits our personalities well.

The ballroom is nice - I like that it has a more modern/contemporary look. The courtyard looks perfect for a pre-reception.

That is a great ballroom! Did she mention what the minimums are for it?

Kristine

All the food and beverage minimums are the same. For a dinner it is $125 per guest. There is no additional site fee with ballrooms. If we used RnR, we would have to pay a $2,000 site fee on top of the food and beverage minimums.

Another option I am looking at is doing an Escape wedding with an at home reception. My feeling though is that since most of our budget is in the reception thanks to Aaron's large family, it will end up being more expensive than just meeting the Wishes expenditure.

Today Aaron and I are going ring shopping- well, sort of. One of the jewelry stores on the Plaza (a rather large shopping area in KC) is having a "restyle event". My mom has given us a diamond solitaire necklace to use the diamond out of. My father gave it to her for one of their anniversaries, but she has since developed an allergy to metal and it has been sitting in their safe deposit box. It's a 1/3 carat round. I kind of like the setting actually, it's inside a small flower.

Anyway, we're going to this event because they will have lots of empty mountings and they'll be able to mount it for us then and there. I know this sounds weird, but when the time comes, I'll be kind of sad to take off the ring I've been wearing.

I've worn a purity ring since I was in 8th grade as part of the True Love Waits program. It was a gift from my father (as is traditional.) It is yellow gold with an amethyst heart since purple is my favorite color. Most people assume it's a promise ring, which is fine by me. I don't tell people about it unless they ask. Except for one time when I thought it was lost (long story) and when I had to get it resized, I have not taken it off. It is very special to me, both in what it respresents, and also because it was a gift from my father. This ring has been with me through a lot, and it will be almost sad to take it off.

I haven't decided yet what I'm going to do with it. It's not expensive or valuable, except for the sentimental value. I kind of want to do something with the stone, but I don't wear a lot of jewelry. I have a dove necklace that never comes off, and almost never wear earrings. My best friend's sister melted down the gold in hers to become part of her husband's wedding ring. I really like the idea of that, but I guess a lot of jewelers won't do it. Thankfully I have some time to come up with something.
