So, yesterday morning I receieved an email from Michelle, the woman we have been speaking to at DFTW for about 6 months now, that my DF Rich and I had been given our first time choice of 5:00 pm for our Escape wedding at SBP on May 16, 2011. We were thrilled!!! I have been browsing the posts on here for a while now and since everything is starting to fall into place, I figured I would start our PJ. I'll start off with a little background info about who we are and how we met.

In Dec 05, I was checking my myspace (yes, Myspace...before I got sucked into the FB trend LOL) and realized I had a message from someone I didn't know. Rich had sent me a PM asking if I would interested in becoming friends with him. I was hesitant at first, not normally being one to talk to people online that I didn't know, but figured what could chatting online really hurt? After a couple months of talking, he asked if I would like to meet up with him at the mall and grab a bite to eat. I had just recently ended a bad relationship and wasn't interested in starting a new one, but went anyways and we really hit it off! We began dating shortly after, and in June '06 my mother decided that she needed out of NJ and wanted to relocate to SC. I had just turned 19 at the time and couldn't really afford to live on my own and was a little excited about the move, until I realized that would mean one of two things. Rich and I would either have to have a long distance relationship or we would have to break it off. When I brought it up to him, to my surprise, he asked "You think your mom would let me come with you?" We sat down with both of our parents and discussed the situation and both sides were fine with him joining us. We hadn't been together long, but we both knew that a long distance relationship wouldn't work and that neither one of us wanted to end things. So away we went to SC, been living here a little over 4 years now and things have just gotten better and better.

I am a full time pre-nursing student and wish to join the US Navy after the wedding, and Rich is a cook at a local sports bar, saving up money to go to culinary school. We became engaged on my 21st birthday, May 20th 2008. It's not a very romantic story, but it's ours. About a week before, my Dr had found a suspicious lump that she wanted to biopsy, so on my birthday, we went together to have things checked out. When we arrived back home we found that our cat, Lola, had knocked my water that I had mistakenly left on the dresser onto my laptop and that was the end of that. It had just been a horrible day and I just broke down and started crying. Out of nowhere, Rich comes up to me and says "I wanted to do this in a more romantic way, but I hope that this will make you feel a little better. Will you marry me? And he pulled out the most beautiful ring, and of course, I said "YES!!!!!"

So here we are, 2 years AFTER our engagement and 4.5 years into our relationship, starting to plan our wedding and we couldn't be more excited!!! I have a few pictures that I will post later on of my dress and my MOH and BM's dresses.

So, I purchased my dress in Aug 2009 from Davids Bridal. After a few trips back and forth to the store to try on about 30 different dresses, I had my heart set on a strapless pick-up with a cuff neckline and lace-up back. Since we had not yet decided on our colors, I wasn't too sure about ordering it in case we changed our mind, not knowing when the actual wedding would be taking place. The woman who helped me told me to wait a minute and that she had something in mind I might like. When she showed me the dress, I wasn't too excited but decided to try it on anyway. When I walked out of the dressing room, before I had a chance to really look at myself, my mother started crying and said "That's the one!" When I turned around and looked in the mirror, I was sold!! I look a mess and I obviously have had to try very hard to restrain myself from putting it on every chance I get!!! There is no train, but the skirt itslef is HUGE which I love!!!

And my shoes, of course, which I purchased about a month ago. They are very high, but Rich is about 6'3'' so it works out great!

Now, our colors are Pistachio and Clover (from DB) and we are planning on having yellow flowers. I LOVE daisies but since we haven't spoken to the flower people yet we haven't made up our minds. I don't have pictures of my girls in their dresses, since they're all fitted in different states, so I just copied the images from the website to give everyone an idea. I allowed them to choose whatever dress they'd like as long as it was available is our colors.

First up is my MOH who will be wearing Pistachio (dress is shown in clover)

Next are my Bridesmaids. Both in Clover

The dress on the right will be worn by my 18 year old niece. My sister has not yet decided if she can afford to make the trip to WDW from TN so we're not sure if she will make it as well.

I don't have any pictures of the guys attire, but we decided to not go with the traditional tux. We are simply doing khaki dress pants with white button down shirts and vests/ties from Mens Warehouse. His BM and GM's will be in Pistachio (Clover has a black back which would be fine if they were wearing jackets, but I think it will throw things off) and Rich will be wearing Maize yellow (to match our yellow flowers and so he stands out!)

So....what does everyone think??? Has anyone ever had their groom NOT in a tux?? We figured, since we're not doing the big church wedding, that we could go a little more casual and we know how that heat can be in Olrando!!!

I love your dress. Just how high are the heels of your shoes? They look very high.

Whoops! almost forgot to add that when I ordered the dress(this was the one I tried on at the store), I had them add extra length onto the bottom so now because of the shoes, I don't need to have the length altered

Your dress is so nice. It's funny how that works that you have one thing in mind and end up with something different. Same thing happened to me. The dress I'm getting I had seen hanging and was like ugh I don't want to try that on, but once I did..it was love at first sight. :lmao:

Just got an email that our Magic Kingdom and EPCOT photo sessions are confirmed for May 17th!!!! I currently have 2 dresses, my gown for the ceremony and one which I purchased a few months ago since I was told that our photos could possibly take place BEFORE the ceremony. Since they are being held the day after our ceremony, I've been thinking about wearing my second dress to the EPCOT shoot. Does anyone know if I would be able to make a "quick change" before our session starts at EPCOT?? Also, what is the transportation for the shoots?? Would we be driving ourselves (we will have a car) or is it provided?? And transportation from MK to EPCOT??

Haven't updated in a while. I have been super busy with school so I haven't been doing much wedding stuff.

We sent out our Save-The-Dates for our Reception about 2 weeks ago. We are holding it at an Italian restaurant in NJ on July 3, 2011. We chose a date so far behind our actualy wedding date so that Rich and I could get a few weeks of working in before we take another vacation. We go to NJ every year for the week of 4th of July and rent a house at the Jersey Shore. July 3rd is my father's birthday and he passed away 7 years ago so we felt it would be a nice way to honor him which is why we chose it =) We apre planning on doing an Alice in Wonderland theme and have already starting picking up some vintage teapots that we want to use as center pieces with flowers set in them. Here is one I just ordered and it is PERFECT!

We were also assigned our wedding coordinator last week, and we got Karen Serrette. I am scheduled to have our phone session this Thursday, 10/14, and will post some details once we speak. So far, she has answered every email very quickly which gives me a good feeling that she will be wonderful!

Now it's time to hit the books! Midterms are this week which has just added more stress to my life on top of planning a wedding!

We started purchasing some stuff for our welcome bags a few weeks ago to give us a head start. We plan on putting some park maps, itineraries, list of hidden mickeys, snacks and bottled water (which we won't be purchasing until April sometime) and toiletries. I decided to use Bath & Body works since they have some killer sales going on right now for the holiday season. For the ladies, we got travel sized body lotion, shower gel, body spray and hand sanitzers in coordinating scents. we have Orange Sapphire, Warm Vanilla Sugar, Japanese Cherry Blossom, White Citrus, Midnight Pomegranate, Coconut Lime Verbana, Twilight Woods and Sweet Pea. Here is a pic of just one of the "essentials pack" (don't know why it is posting so HUGE!)

For the men, we got the unscented hand sanitizers and deodorizing body spray and travel body wash in Ocean, Noir, & Twilight Woods. Here's the pic of the Ocean

Now, we are planning on sending out our SDT's within the next week or so but seeing that finals are coming up in school, I decided to knock our invites out while I had some downtime. This afternoon I went to Michael's and purchased stuff to make card pockets. We purchased our stationary a while back for the invites, and I printed them out last night. I have not yet "stuffed" them with the info we will be placing inside, but I did get the invites in and the outside done. Here's what they look like for the time being (I will probably do something else to them after I've had some time to look at them :lmao: )

Hi Jess

Things are starting to look great. You are so much more organised than i am. Will keeping reading with interest.

By the way your dress looks lovely - am now off to tell OH all about your wedding so that we can look out for you on the 16th.

Hi everyone!! It has been almost 3 months since I have updated.... crazy!! With finals and the holidays, I just didn't have much time to get on here.

I spent Christmas in NJ with mine and DF's family. Ate too much, got snowed in, went into NYC, and saw a NJ Devils game. All in all, it was a great December and a wonderful end to 2010. Then came 2011... wedding year!! It's like I woke up and realized... "WOW... this is the year!" In just a few short months, I will be walking down the aisle at SBP, so I better get a move on with these wedding plans!!

I was informed by Davids Bridal that one of our wedding colors, pistachio, was discontinued, and my MOH had not yet purchased her dress. So after a few trips to Davids, not finding any other color that would coordinate well, for me, with the clover, we decided we would just start from scratch again. In a way, it was a good move. All of my girls now have their dresses, and things are starting to fall into place. Since I already did our invitations (representing the dark and light greens), I am stuck with keeping them. everything else is being altered around the colors, Pool & Truffle.

Here is my MOH, Katie, in her Truffle dress with a pool sash. (I've blocked her face bc she will prob think she looks a mess and hate me for sharing with the DIS Boards world :) ) She is also VERY petite, and was able to fit into a Jr. size dress... YAY to saving money for us starving college students

Next are my beautiful Bridesmaids! I do not have a picture of my niece in her dress, since I purchased and haven't shipped yet, but her and my pretty lady, Nikki, will be wearing the same dress.

I also had to adjust our orders at Mens Warehouse, and we have the BM in Truffle, and the GM in Pool. We are currently stuck with what DF will wear!!! :confused3 We originally had planned to just have them all wearing khaki pants, white dress shirts, and the vests and ties from MW. I am slowly inching towards doing the suit/tux route. Any ideas/recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!

I finally booked hair & make up with Beaute Speciale for the wedding day and our park shoots. Ana was very helpful and attentive, and I cannot wait to meet her staff.

I am also hoping (fingers crossed!!) to be able to get Randy for photos. I will be calling him in the next week or so to check availability. I had spoken to him a few months back, but with the holidays and everyday life, we couldn't really afford to make the deposit at that exact time. I really love his pictures, and they seem well worth the cost.

Today, I also booked our dog and 3 cats at Best Friends Kennel! The woman I spoke to was wonderful, and their website got me so excited!! Bedtime stories for my pooch, and salmon on a ritz for my kitties?? I was sold!!

Well, that's all for now!!!

I had my BMs try on those pool dresses--they loved them so much!

Love the dresses!
We are going the suit route. It's not soooo much more than renting, and then he can have something after the wedding. The problem we are having is agreeing on the color of it...haha!

I'M GETTING MARRIED IN 100 DAYS!!!!:banana::banana:
crazy crazy!!! Time is going by soooo fast!!! will be doing so much wedding stuff this weekend, hopefully I can feel like I accomplished something. Since our colors changed, I redid my invites last night, incorporating my blue and brown. Ive also been thinking about adding some pink in somewhere? Maybe put my MOH in a bright pink dress with a brown sash? gah! idk... I'm starting to go a little crazy :rotfl:
