Thanks guys! We both took today off work to continue making calls, and getting info to the attorney. He obviously worked well into the night on our case. We woke up to several emails from him this morning regarding childrens' rights, etc. I cannot believe how fast the folks from the ACLU kicked it into gear and got the ball rolling for us! We told them that it was an extremely time sensitive issue, and they obviously did not take that lightly!!

Can I just say that I will be making regular donations to the ACLU from now on? I am truly their biggest fan right now!

It's so sad to me that no one (and I do mean NO ONE) seems to have that baby's interest in mind. I just don't understand. She's the one who needs protection, and everyone's rights seem to come before hers! Well, not if we can help it! We may go down, but we're mad as hell, and we'll go down FIGHTING!!!

You're right that often times it seems like the child's best interest is not at the forefront of the agencies, the states, the judge etc. But YOU guys have her best interest in mind. Thank God she has you and that you are willing to say "Hey, no, this is wrong for her". All of our children need a voice and she's very lucky to have yours.

I am a happily married heterosexual woman and I cannot tell you how unbelievably po'd I am that you all are going through this. I worked in Social Services for years and what folks have to go through to be fosters or adopters is unreal and yet there are classes or hoops to jump through to have children in general????? What the heck......

Who you love should NOT have anything to do with ones ability to raise a child. My thoughts are with you and all others who fight these same battles daily.

Yesterday my daughter went to a H.S in a very conservative part of town because thay wanted to start a GSA (Gay Straight Alliance) as several of the students has asked about it. My daughter was so encourage by the schools eagerness and determination. They knew they would probably get flack from some of the parents but thought it was an important enough issue to buck that opposition.

The world is changing, slowly, but surely. Hang in there everyone!

I am similiar to mskayjay, but as a high school teacher I cannot tell you how many kids are really neglected by the time they reach us, but no one cares! Insane you fight the fight knowing that you have so much support because all you are wanting to do is provide a nurturing, supportive, loving environment for that child which is the right thing to do. I am so angry that I have tears streaming down my face right now thinking that you both have to go through this. When my DD was in Kindergarten I would have voted the lesbian couple with several adopted children parents of the year--they were wonderful, nurturing and supportive and so loving. My child was always welcome to go and play and always included in all the activities that they did with their children. My DD was always so jealous because "Zach" had two Mommies and one of them were always able to go on the field trips or help in the classroom--come to think of it I should have been angry they were way better at parenting than I was and I was so jealous!LOL Anyway, when they moved my daughter sobbed and was bummed for months, I joined in the tears as well. I guess my point is, one more person praying for you all and one more person who is fed up with the ignorance involved here.
