Do you have CASA in your area? It is court appointed special advocates. They are a non-profit group that does exactly what you said - advocates for the best interest of the CHILD. Even if there isn't a chapter near you, they might have a website or online group or something.

And that is the true work, isn't it? You are the only ones who will look out for that precious child. Everyone has another foster child on their list, case worker, judge, guardian ad litem...ect.

She has only the both of you and thank heaven it is you! Keep up the excellent work. It's the most rewarding you will ever do.

Jen just got a call from our worker who said that our foster placement might be taken from us because we're gay. And this might happen today.

We're both at work, and she's in daycare. I'm literally shaking right now not knowing what's going on. they were aware of our orientation and status when they placed her with us. We were required to disclose it in our home study. Wwe were a little worried when we were first called about her, because she was going through a religious agency. but her worker saw our home study and knew, and she said it was not a problem.

jen said that all our worker was able to say was that she may be taken from us today, and it was because we are gay. She said that she shouldnt say any more. She's trying to get ahold of our foster daughter's worker to find out what's going on. we were somewhat prepared for her to go back when her bio parents got their stuff together. But this is a huge blow to the face. We're very much not prepared to let her go today. And not for that reason. And if they pick her up at daycare, we won't even have a chance to say goodbye. If I can get it togeteher enought to drive I'm going to leave here and go pick her up.

Please, if you're so inclined, say a prayer or send some pixie dust. We could use it right now.

Call an atty ASAP!! I would call the NAACP right now..they have people who can help you over the phone and get you in contact with someone in YOUR area. This is wrong, and I have a feeling your rights are being violated!! Our thoughts and prayers are with you...your not alone!

OMG, I am shocked, I will be praying that they do not take this child from your safe loving home.
that is just wrong. wrong for the child, uproots her, causes her trauma, to be moved around. out of a safe home for no reason.

I will be praying they do not remove her, you have been a blessing to this child, I can tell that from the things you have posted, I can feel the love and caring you have.

How horrible! It is terrible to uproot the baby after she has gotten settled and is happy and thriving! Especially since they KNEW the whole story BEFORE the placement!

I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope that it does not come to that. I know that in Kentucky, they are trying to pass a new law that will not allow any un-wed couple, or single person, living in a home to adopt/foster care. It is crazy, they are saying it is for the benifit of the child. But it is an attack on us gay folks. Yes I said folks, this is Kentucky remember....

But the ACLU and other groups, including many foster care groups are fighting it because that means they would have to remove several children from foster care, in both gay and straight families. How horrible is our society right now?
