I originally wasn't a huge fan of JL, simply because I don't like change. At first I was unsure, but JL, I wanted to say that I really enjoy listening to you as a member of the podcast team. I may have posted before that you "weren't my favorite person", but I fully admit that I didn't give you a chance. I apologize for that. It is plain to see how much you care about your children as well as everyone else around you. I enjoy listening to you and I look forward to hearing your perspective on future episodes.

Another thing that could also go in the 'suggestions' thread - I really like hearing your opinion on special dining requests/allergies/etc. There are so many Disney-goers that have special dietary needs and I think sharing your perspective on what a restaurant did to accommodate your needs would be helpful to many. I know you already try to do that as much as you can, but I think it would be cool to take your kids to the parks and do a segment on what you ate and how they accommodated you!

Can I just say how much I appreciate her?

She's on the Universal, The Trip, The DIS and her opinions are awesome. She ties family friendly views, but still at the same time throws in grown up flavor. I feel she adds humor, finesse, and charm to the podcast. I've only been listening over 2 years, but just appreciate her weekly.

Thanks JL and I love the WHOLE team but she needs a special shout out!

I am a Disney fanatic that just found the Dis Board and love the unique perspective of the cast. Especially the family and dining views that she provides. Although a few drinks may cleanse the soul. I think that's why they call them spirits. A bar at the end of the haunted mansion selling spirits, can I Patton that? Anyway three cheers for Jenny... Hmmm and three sheets for the spirits......

Just want to say how much I enjoyed this past episode of The Trip. You guys are finding your groove and it is very enjoyable.

I genuinely appreciate this comment. Teresa and I are trying to be flexible enough so that we can find what works. I think we are inching there little by little. I imagine that The Trip will evolve quite a bit, especially in this first year. It will be exciting to see what it ends up being once we figure out a really good format.

I have to admit that at first JL wasn't my favorite (I'm sorry! I don't like change!) but she's come to be one of my faves! I feel like she's...how do I say this...somewhat more willing to challenge the status quo at the table than the others? I feel like she better represents me in a lot of the discussions. And I look forward to seeing what she does with her hair every week (something I picked up on when I rewatched like 20 shows in a row on YT).

You wouldn't be the first to say that I wasn't your favorite. From what I can garner from some of these threads, I am still not in the running for "Most Loved" on the podcast.

I will concede that things were rough for me in the beginning (within 2 months I finalized a divorce, had to find a new home for myself and my children, had to move into that new home, woke up to the responsibilities of living on my own for the first time, took on a new job and then also was asked to host a show that I was still finding my place in), and I think that came out in a way that grated on people. If I am being honest, I found myself grating at times as well. I was excessively nervous and anxious about my life. I was in a difficult place where it felt like everyday was about survival, and yet I needed to hold it together for the sake of my children and boss. I am sure I was gritting my teeth in my sleep during those days.

I can understand why people without the context would read my manner as unnecessarily abrasive and unfriendly. The truth is that I was doing my job to the best of my ability given my circumstances at the time, and there was no animosity within the team on or off camera. In fact, the team was all extremely supportive of me (in some ways being what got me through emotionally and practically).

As far as me being willing to challenge the status quo...well, yeah. In general, that has been my personality since birth but also it is one of the reasons that Pete hired me. Pete enjoys a healthy discussion of differing views. Upon my first meeting with Pete, we had a "healthy discussion" about Blackfish. We met each other point for point. At the end of it, we both knew we still stood on opposing sides of the fence (and held up our sides well) but rather than me being told I had blown my opportunity to get the job, he told me that he needed to know if I'd be willing to do that on camera. He's kind of great that way.

Now let's talk about hair. I have a lot of it. It has it's own personality that I am not always able to manage. So this is why it is different every week. And since it is something you pay attention to, I'll tell you a secret. When my hair is up, pulled back or restrained in braids, it is usually because I am having a TERRIBLE hair day and resemble Simba...not attractive. Haha!

I also have to admit, when JL first started I was a bit skeptical. I also don't like change (no offense JL). However, I now love JL. I really miss her when she isn't on the show(s). I listen to all three shows. I'm also a mom who loves Disney. I really value JL's prospective , which is usually geared toward kids and family. She also brings a fun element to all the shows.

In fact, I just finished listening to the last three episodes of the Trip (I don't watch just listen during my commute). I got a bit behind due to the 7 in 7. Anyway, I love the Tripp; JL and T are so funny.

I hope to meet some of the team members at the Hershey meet this summer, which I'm super excited about. I booked a room at the Hershey Lodge the day the dates were first mentioned on the show.

I have to admit I'm not quite sure about The Trip yet. I don't totally like how it is only one main topic for the whole show. I prefer the variety of the regular podcast that covers a bunch of different info. Also, since I only listen to the audio, the prerecorded video segments are tough to enjoy. I'm sure they're more entertaining when you're watching them. It might be better if they cut them out of the audio show just like they do for the regular podcast. Perhaps I'll suggest that over on Dustin's suggestion thread.

Dustin might find this suggestion very helpful (about removing the video segment for the audio version), so you posting it to him is probably the best way to go.

I really appreciate this feedback. Teresa and I are still trying to figure out what The Trip will actually end up being. I am going to take what you said in regards to variety back to Pete and Dustin during our next discussion about the show and we'll see what we come up with.

I love this feedback, so thank you for providing it. It's helpful for me to know what you guys would like to hear from me in particular. I will definitely try to incorporate more of this in what I do. If you have any more ideas, I'm taking notes. I'll try to write blogs and talk about it on any of the shows where it seems to fall in line with scheduled content.

And thank you for being flexible enough to let me grow on you. I do genuinely care about my family and the people I work with. They are all special to me.

I did make the suggestion to edit out the videos and that has actually already happened on the last couple of episodes. I think it made a big difference to those of us who only listen to the audio.

Since I made that original post, I've found the last couple of episodes to be much more enjoyable. Intentional or not, there seemed to be a little more variety and range to the discussions. Maybe that was a function of the topics being discussed. I also definitely think that you are all settling into the routine and getting more comfortable with it, which naturally took a little time.

By the way, and this is probably really for Dustin too, but on The Trip website (http://www.disunplugged.com/category/the-trip/) there is a mistake in the episode descriptions. 2/25 and 3/4 both have the same show description about the Chocolate Kingdom but 3/4 was actually about the favorite minor attractions.

I'm loving the show more and more each week. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to meeting you in Richmond!!

I do read those comments every single week, especially if they are posted during the week of the show. And I love your idea about Orlando Time Shares. I would have NEVER thought of that, but you are soooooooo right. I'll run the idea past the rest of the team. Thank you!

I can't help but laugh with some of the stuff that Teresa throws at us. She is comedy gold, honestly. The show would be entirely flat without her. I feel she is the reason the show has so much potential.

I love that there are strong, passionate views from the team - and anytime that is the case, it's just natural that there will be disagreements at times. When those disagreements happen, they are intelligent, thought-provoking discussions and it is great to hear all sides!

I also want to say that I really enjoy your perspective on touring with children as well as when you discuss some of the special needs aspects (whether it be allergy/food related or otherwise). As a mom who does have some issues along those lines to consider, it is *very* helpful to have that viewpoint addressed on the show.

I just started watching the podcast in the fall, so in my "podcast world" you've always been a part of the team - I'm just starting to go back and watch archived episodes. I really enjoy the dynamic you and Teresa have on The Trip as well! I look forward to meeting the team in Richmond.

When did Jenni start at the DIS? I started listening somewhere around last June and the first episode I ever heard was actually hosted by Jenni. She was one of the first of the gang that I really started to love hearing from. I never sensed any type of abrasiveness or unfriendliness, and I don't understand where this whole idea of "it took me a while to warm up to her" thing comes from. (And let's disregard even having some empathy for what she was dealing with in her personal life.)

Some of the dudes on the show can maybe come across as a tad unfriendly or harsh for a first time listener. Like, Craig has a great sarcastic sense of humor but Jeni is unfriendly?? Seems like an unfair double standard.

And are people really complaining about her hair?? Is this a joke? I highly doubt anyone on the DIS is spending hours getting trim and proper and pretty for the podcast, so maybe let the hair thing go. She's adorable! (An earlier poster said that JL is experiencing "the new hot mom at the pool" treatment. Maybe a little jealousy?? I can't help but kinda agree!)

Special needs is dear to my heart. In addition to the time my family dealt with a severely restricted diet, my very close friend's son is profoundly autistic as well as blind. I used to take care of him periodically, and I have experienced theme parks with him as well. It is a seriously challenging situation that is very hard to understand unless you have walked in those shoes.

My first official day with the DIS was May 19, 2014. I was as nervous as can be...much more nervous than when I show up at the Fox News studio for those theme park reports I do. I think some of the ideas that I was abrasive and unfriendly came from me being nervous and rather talkative (as well as vocalizing my opinion even though I was the "new girl"). And some of it came from Pete asking me to host the show so quickly after being hired (since John and Kevin were away as well). It seemed a bit sudden, and (being in the host position) the responsibility of leading the discussion was probably interpreted as me asserting dominance in some respects.

I am definitely not unfriendly. I do tease people, but I only tease the people that I love the most. It is my way of being playful. Sometimes this is not understood by certain personalities within the viewership, but it is understood by everyone on the team. They often tease back. Teresa, in particular, is one to throw snide comments my way. That is because she is one of the members I am closest to, and it is our dynamic.

As far as I know, no one is complaining about my hair. I think it just draws attention because I have quite a bit of it and change the way I style it. The impression that I get is that people are just interested in the surprise factor of what style it will be for each episode, and I'm cool with that.
