jennifaerie's planning journal - 3/2 - Made it on the Maggie Sottero Website!

It's 23.95! :) It was 20.95 before, but we we weren't considering it, so I don't feel the hike as much as I did with the other changes.

We can lock in on the price in a month.

Yes I edited my post because I saw pasta salad was already listed! That indeed does not go either. I say scrap it!

Sounds like a delicious menu!! I love breakfast food. Especially French Toast. No bananas though. I can't handle bananas.

No bananas?! That's terrible! They used to make me sick, but I've found if I eat them with something else in my stomach, I'm usually okay. Maybe that's why Tonga Toast bothers me! (Or it could be all the sugar!) :rotfl:

Sugar is good for the soul!! Then again... so are bananas!!

...so is all food really.

Hmmm wonder why I'm trying to lose weight?! :rotfl2:

Paid the Roots (the ROOTS!)! So that is now official!

all I can think of when you say the roots....

Shockingly enough, Rob *FINALLY* asked people to be his ... something. He told them "groomsmen", but he really meant best men.

Sigh. I don't know why this was such a painful process for him. It ended up being the two people he should have asked months ago. But at least I can try to proceed with making the programs now!

Men are strange when it comes to big events like this. I think it's about emotions and manliness and stuff like that. :confused3 Like asking a guy to be in your wedding is not a manly thing to do.

That's more than likely it, Jennifer. He kept saying over and over that it felt weird, and he couldn't figure out why he didn't want to do it.

Don't feel bad... Tim broke up with his bff just before our engagement, so he had no one to ask (we don't get out much) finally we decided to ask our fathers... he didn't even ask his, cuz his dad told him he wasn't coming to disney and Tim was furious... so now his stepdad is standing up and -I- had to ask. Or more likely, I told his mom that our parents were going to stand up and his stepdad found out by proxy... :confused3 men are weird.

Just wanted to say "Hi!" I've been lurking around these boards because I have a secret desire to be a Disney Bride, but I don't see that in the very near future. I wanted to say - I have an LJ too - and yeah no one seems to care about any of that stuff. When I got married to my DW back in 2005 - I posted all about my wedding stuff, and you know what? No one cared then, and I can gurantee they certainly wouldn't care now. :confused3
I love it here though!
I'm keeping up with your report! :goodvibes

It's not whether or not people would care... I care. I don't allow comments in my livejournal, so it's the principle of the matter. Not what people would say. But thanks!

I've been meaning to post this forever, but it took me months to finally get pictures.

Before I got the blurb book, I was trying to find a guestbook that fit the burgundy/gold and fall themes. But it's actually really tough when you're as cheap as I am! :) I wasn't willing to pay fifty dollars for a generic blank book.

I was also having trouble finding toasting glasses. I wanted them to match our likes and dislikes. I kept leaning toward The Nightmare Before Christmas glasses. But then I found this set, and it was less than a hundred dollars for the whole set. If I had tried to buy everything separately, forget it.

I loved the leaves.

Here's the guestbook/pen set. I love the set. I wish I could still use it. I'm considering having the blurb book somewhere central in the reception, and then this maybe by the door. Then people can do the generic signature and then be detailed in the blurb book. I don't know.

Here are the toasting glasses, and a garter. I now have two garters! Do they really hold up thigh highs?

I didn't realize I'd have to make decisions at the fitting. I mean, I figured I might need to choose a bustle, but that's about it. I didn't know I'd have to pick the hem length and, well, okay things. I'm not exactly an indecisive person, but if I don't have a particularly strong opinion on something, I honestly will leave you hanging forever unless you make the decision for me.

So Rob's mom, Charlene, made all my decisions for me. No biggie.

I opted for the French bustle. I think I had this misconception that the bustle I'd have would look French/Victorian/poofy. So I was a little disappointed that I didn't look like I'd have trouble sitting down. :)

The corset straps will be cut to the bottom of the bustle (so about two feet above the floor), courtesy of Rob's mom's decision. :)

Charlene was enjoying the camera. She kept telling me to pose. If I was deep in thought, she'd tell me to smile. Then she'd tell me to look to to the side or throw my head back. It was funny.

When it came time to try the jewelry again, she was all over that. She wanted me to put the haircomb from Tigerlilly on. This obviously looks silly. It'll look a lot better when my hair is really done. My trial is September 6th.

Now, onto the jewelry. Almost everyone I know really loved the pink floral necklace and the burgundy choker. The other floral necklace came in third. You'll also notice that the dress now has straps. Try not to hate them. I know they look a little weird now, but once they're... attached, they should look much better.

This time, you can actually see the necklaces with the dress.

The longer one.

Choker time.

I love getting caught mid-sentence. So attractive. Try not to look at my face, though. Look at how the choker and the bow match.

Almost everyone who was in the store at the time came up to me and said, THAT is the one. Charlene loved the other two and was sure I should wear those, but when she saw this choker, she stopped, gasped, and said, Oh, there is NO question. THAT is the one. You must wear that to the ceremony. You can't wear any of the others.

It was nice that she said that. It's Rob's favorite too. And mine. But I still am considering wearing the others different parts of the day and the honeymoon shoot.

Now, as you all know, I am not crazy about the bow. I ordered a bunch of flowers off eBay and hoped for the best. The flowers ended up either being too big or just not matching right. There are one or two that I may end up putting somewhere on my dress so that I can say I wore them... even if they're in the back or under a pick-up. At least *I* will know they're there. But there was one flower that I got that we all (everyone in the store) agreed... no matter how ugly it may have seemed separately, it matched with the dress perfectly.

For a refresher, here's what it looks like without:

And here it is with the flower:

I may sound lame, especially to someone who thinks it looks awful, but I sorta got chills looking at the pictures. I really like it. Rob's mom wants to sew it on... she wanted the other applique to be removed, but I convinced her it should stay. She's convinced the leaves should be sewn onto the dress. I don't think it's necessary. I think it works without. But we'll see. I think this may help me with the whole vertical bow thing.

So that was my fitting. :) I didn't think I looked unflattering this time (though I kept staring at my shoulders thinking, holy cow, does my back [shoulders] look big? Yeah, yeah, I know, I know. :)

First of all, your back/shoulders do not look big. I was actually going to comment on how slender and narrow you are and how beautifully the gown fits your curves. Next, the gown is so gorgeous on you! It so perfectly fits the vision of what you have described as wanting your overall "look" to be. The choker looks perfect with the gown and I NEVER would have thought that flower would be perfect, but it is. :thumbsup2 I can't even believe that it didn't come with the dress since it matches so perfectly and seems like just the right finishing touch.
You must be so excited to see everything coming together so perfectly. :cloud9:

Cam, you should write Hallmark cards! You *ALWAYS* say the right thing! Thank you so much for being such a fantastic (amazing, wonderful, and all those great, understated adjectives) cheerleader. You always help (whether you like it or not) validate all my decisions and make me feel proud!

Thank you!! :cloud9:

I will be brief or succinct, however you want to look at it! I love it all! :lovestruc I think it will be pretty with straps too :goodvibes

Oh, I went back a page and found your great set of glasses and guest book etc. I LOVE that set because it matches so much of your theme with the leaves on it!!!
