Jen and Brook's Excellent Adventure

no one is getting back to me! :lmao: I keep getting OUT OF OFFICE replies from everyone.. I guess everyone is out for the holiday weekend.. oh well.. no worries really.. I know there is one coming up in November.. which actually may be better.. it won't be as hot! ;) We were just down there a few weeks ago.. and I am staying at the YC in January for the Marathon weekend.. so a November trip will be nice! ;)

Where do you live in Maryland? I live in NOVA but I grew up in Greenbelt, MD.

My kids are at each other throats in the background, literally fighting over whose yogurt has the better picture on it, as I read your question of how do you tell Claire you're going to Disney without her. My first thought was "See ya kids!!!" :rolleyes1 I could SO handle a solo vacation right about now....

:rotfl: I read that and realized that my DD9's yogurt tube from Panera was still in my purse (pink and green Minnie Mouse Douney & Bourke bag) from lunch!!

I just thought i would pass the word along.
A few years ago I found on the budget board that KMart was having 50% off all clearance toys. I went and really hit the jackpot and bought a ton of stuff that I saved for Claire's b-day and Christmas. I have been on the lookout ever since and hitting it when I see it each summer.
Well this week is it.
I don't normally shop kmart, as it really isn't in a convenient location for us, but for this I go out of my way.
I spent about $121 pre tax on toys and clothing today...the full price value was $344 pre tax. I was pretty happy. Most of what I got was littlest pet shop stuff, which she loves. And some Polly Pockets, another favorite. I also picked up a few things to give as gifts for upcoming birthdays.
If you have a boy, there were LOTS of pre Cars 2 stuff. And lots of Toy Story 3 stuff as well. Most the TS 3 wasn't really something Claire would use, so I passed on all but a set of Lotso legos.

On top of that, the clearance clothing was also 40% off. I got Claire 3 pairs of jeans, and I Carly short set (she's really into her over the last few weeks) and a 2 peice PJ set. The jeans were only 2.99! And the PJ set was reg. 14.99 and I got it for 3.59.

Just thought I would share with you all!

Heidi loves those toys too. However, we actually have no Kmart in our county. There was one, but it closed close to 10 years ago. But we have at least 3 Targets and 2 Wal-marts.

What would you do if you couldn't take any photos? The one thing I love reading your posts is all the pictures make me feel like I'm right there with you! I imagine it would be like telling an Italian they couldn't wave their arms around when they talk (and yes, I'm Italian and I do that:rotfl:)

MMMM Desserts!

:worship: I'm picturing you waving your arms about wildly shouting loudly... what's the difference between a Jewish mother and an Italian mother??? Difference???? :lmao:

I also take a bazillion photos, but I'm not bringing the Nikon. Henry will bring it down with him on Thursday. I'll just have my Samsung point and shoot. And several camera cards...which... in case you need to know.... they sell at the Kodak store, at least SD cards that we use.

My kids have always loved EPCOT. We've done the Kim Possible Adventure many times. I'm not sure if there is a country left that we haven't saved! :)
Don't forget that Duffy is in EPCOT now. Heidi has a Duffy, so I'll have to buy him some more outfits. Heidi loves Soarin', Test Track, Maelstrom, the Mexico boat ride and the Figment ride. The only thing that ever has really disappointed at EPCOT is that Michael Jackson thing. :rolleyes1

I'm getting more and more jealous.

The Grand Marnier slush is good, but the Grey Goose Citron one is better (in my opinion anyways).

Ditto! I've had them both and LOVE the GG slushy!

Slushies? Grand Marnier? Grey Goose? Where have these been all my life?:rotfl2: I guess I didn't see them since I was looking at the Fiesta Margarita in my hand!! :cool1: Seriously... where are these delish beverages to be found?

I totally forgot about the Michael Jackson thing. We never had a chance this past trip to see it. I think I might have to put that on the top of my list. I havbe never seen it at all, and it's just something I want to say I've done.

:lmao: :rotfl: After all your talking of drinks, I thought you would be an expert with these!

I'm with you on the 'ritas too! But sometimes I switch it up to the Grey Goose if my drink is empty when I'm walking by!! There is a stand in France that sells both. :thumbsup2

You gotta be in a retro kinda place for the Michael Jackson thing. It did make me nostalgic for when he looked halfway normal though.

You'd think huh!! But I'm I actually am "change challenged". When I find something I like... I stick with it. Probably why I have had trouble breaking away from Saratoga or Pop. I just always get the margaritas. But now that you all said the others are good. I'm willing to try if I find them. I also totally love that Yak Attack drink over at the QS drink counter at the Yak & Yeti.

How do you become a Disney travel agent for that agency? I want to move on from my cleaning business ever since my daughter was born 5 months ago. Being a Disney travel agent sounds right up my alley! Any information would be awesome :thumbsup2

Oh my gosh... your DIS name! My family is originally from Brooklyn. My grandfather always used to call my sister and me "hey! youse goils" "you want I should get you a nosh?" Our people are from Canarsie. There was this little tiny amusement park there called Buddy's (in the 60's)... it had a kiddie roller coaster called the Snow White roller coaster. Ah the memories!:goodvibes

Aug 16th, Tuesday
This is my 3rd day at Disney and our 2nd day of AEP.
It's gonna be a busy one too.
We start out by meeting in the lobby of the Beach Club at 7:10. We then head over to Cape May for breakfast. I have only had 3 breakfasts at Disney so far, and this is my favorite one. Or it was a few years ago. I hope the food is still as good.

Around 8:30 we head off to Port Canaveral to tour the Disney Dream! Now I just sailed on her this past Spring and I loved every minute of it. I am so excited to see her again and to take some pictures of things I missed! :thumbsup2
I was hoping we would be eating at Cabanas before we left, but it is listed we will receive a boxed lunch on the bus back. Darn!
At 3 Pm we head to AK for what is listed as a park experience. I have no clue what that means. We've all talked about the possiblities. I wonder if they will take us on a few rides or if we'll get a taste of the new african Safari trek tour, or if we are just shown bits and pieces of the park itself.
It wil lbe fun I'm sure though, and AK was a park we skipped this past Spring, so it wil lbe nice to go back to it.

We return to the resort at 6:30 and the evening is then ours.
The other girls have talked of possibly going to Jelly Rolls or a place with music. But at this point I have declined to join them. I will now have been at WDW for almost 3 days and not yet been to MK...so my plan at this point and time is to head over there. The park is open till 11, so that should give me a couple of hours to explore and have fun and just do whatever.
Since I have never been to Disney in Aug, I'm not sure hwat the crowds will be like in the evening, but I'm hoping it won't be too bad.

OK, now many of us have read your TR so we know there isn't much of that ship you didn't take pictures of. I was able to create a model of the ship from your pictures, the only things I am missing are the port side rudder, and the doorknob for room 7249.:lmao:

I didn't get the clubs at all. And quite a few other things...beleive it or not. :rolleyes1

I'm here!!!

I'm Brook, the "other half" of this Excellent Adventure....yet terribly late and behind-which has become the norm for 2011 so far when it comes to Brook and the DIS. And I don't like it!

I will be catching up and checking in with my plans and excitement!!

:yay::yay::yay:

Jen, I'm afraid they would have to drag me back off of that ship - don't think I could go on for a little tour and not be begging stay

:worship: I'm picturing you waving your arms about wildly shouting loudly... what's the difference between a Jewish mother and an Italian mother??? Difference???? :lmao:

There's a difference between catholic guilt and jewish guilt? :rotfl:

Jen - thanks for the advice. I roadtripped to the KMart in Fremont the other night 1/2 hour each way.

While I didn't find any legos, I scored on some awesome Star Wars toys. I also found Spongebob PJ's and lots of tee's for DS on the clearance + 40% rack.

There were a ton of Cars stuff here too.

Looks like another full day. MK at night, :goodvibes. According to the crowd calendar, it's a 6 out of 10. Should be manageable. Everyone will be over at Epcot for EMH until midnight!!

That would explain some of the strange indents I have in the sides of my model.

I hit the one in Adrian, MI yesterday. It didn't have as much, but I got a couple of things, mostly for gifts for other people.

Good. Thats no worse than when I (WE were ) was in April then.

That is another busy day but what could be better than being busy doing tons of stuff in Disney World?:cloud9:

Oops I didn't mean to double post I don't know how that happened

Sounds like a really cool trip! Seeing what is behind the magic is going to be really neat!

As for leaving Clare behind, when we were younger my mom did a trip with out us, told us she and her friend were going to Epcot (this was before Epcot was a big deal), she didn't tell us she went to all the parks until we came back. Naturally we were upset, but she brought back presents so that made up for a lot!
