The traveling
DH: 27 and slowly becoming a Disney lover
Me: 28 Loves all things Disney!!
Day 2: USF and IOA
This morning started off VERY early. I was awake at 6:00am due to DHs coughing and clearing throat sound. He tells me that his throat feels worse, and he is not able to swallow easily.
He wonders if eating something will help, so we get ready, and check out by 8:00am to head to the Hard Rock Hotel. We are planning on spending a day at USF and IOA today.
I did check to see what animals were out this morning, and the same ones were visible. There was a little baby giraffe under a tree just down a ways from our room. It was raining very lightly like a misty rain, so I think the poor thing was looking for shelter!
We stopped at McDonalds on our way to HRH, and ate a little. DH says that eating didnt help, but he will take a cough drop to see if that will offer some relief. We grab our bags and head to check in. Our room isnt ready yet, so we have the bags checked and held until we return. We decided to head to USF first. The weather is now sunny, and only a few clouds in the area. Henri is on the way out Woohoo! We purchased our tickets in advance, so we just needed to stop at the kiosk to get them. Took us a few minutes to figure it out, but eventually, we had tickets in hand, and were inside the park. We couldnt believe how deserted it was! Even for a Saturday, we had expected some form of a crowd, but we were pleased with the few people in the park.
We immediately got in line for Shrek, and didnt even wait 2 minutes before we were in the auditorium. The pre-show is cute and then we are ushered in to see the show. We really enjoyed it cant wait to try this one again later! We then head over to ride Twister I remember this ride being a little more windy in the past, but DH wasnt impressed with it. We then head over to Earthquake and again, no wait at all. We like this ride, even if it is a little lame
Now it is time to ride Back to the Future. DH and I hadnt been to USF since 1996, so it had been quite some time since we had ridden this ride. I remember not liking it, but couldnt remember why. We give it another try, and suddenly, I remember: The jerkiness of this ride gives DH and I both headaches. It isnt an awful ride, but if you sit in the back, your head keeps slapping against the back I finally forced myself to sit forward a little to avoid this. We probably would have been better off in the front row of seats, since there is nothing to hit your heads!!
We take some Aleve, and then head over to MIB it is a cute ride, but I think DH likes Buzz at MK better. He really doesnt want to ride it again. About this time, it is close to our PS at Emerils, so we decide to leave the park. Other than Terminator, we really rode everything we wanted to, and it was just a little after 12:30pm not bad at all. We didnt want to ride Jaws did it and DH thinks it is lame. We miss Kong, but cant wait for the new Mummy ride!!
We take a walk around Citywalk to check things out a bit and then head to Emerils. Since I work for the Food Network, I was really looking forward to eating here. I have only eaten at his restaurant in New Orleans, so I was anxious to see the difference, if any. We had three people waiting on us, and all were very attentive and polite. DH was really feeling bad about this time, so he just wanted something to drink, and maybe eat something lite. I decided to try the barbecue shrimp appetizer, and it was wonderful!! I loved it, and would recommend it! It was then time to order, and DH ordered a pepperoni pizza, and I ordered the Grilled North Atlantic Salmon. It did not disappoint, and I loved it. DH did not care for the pizza, but he wasnt feeling well, and just wanted to finish. I forgot to mention that you are provided with bread and cornbread, and I LOVED the corn bread DH just had some of the white bread presented, and liked it well enough. Service and food were excellent and I would definitely return. DH is a picky eater, and probably wouldnt return he is more of a simple foods kind of guy! After lunch, I call to see if our room is ready, as DH is ready to take a rest it is not ready yet (it is about 3:00pm).
DH decides that he is ok, and wants to hit IOA for a bit. We head over and are scolded for not getting our hand stamped when leaving USF Oh well. We enter, and DH passes on Hulk for now, so I decide to try Dr. Dooms ride, and loved it. It is too short, and the line DOES move like molasses, but I still liked it.
We then head over to try Spiderman, and this is a great attraction!! I was impressed, and DH liked it also. By this time, DH is ready to head back to the room for a bit, so we decide to walk back to HRH. It is a little after 4pm now, so I find a courtesy phone, and discover that our room is now ready. We are on the 3rd floor, even though I call it the first floor since it is the same floor as the lobby. I cant remember the room number right now, but I will include it tomorrow with our check out.
We enter the room, and it is nice we have the green comforters, but it is nice. I told DH about the bottled water, and he stayed away. He immediately got into bed, and told me to go ahead and go do something, and he would try to take a nap. I went to get him some ice, and alas, it wasnt working. I made sure he had enough water to last a couple of hours, and left him to rest. It was about 4:40pm now, and I decide to head over to IOA to do some rides I figure DH will either not ride at all, or may back out of at the last minute. I also start noticing that my feet are hurting this will come into play later in the evening.
After enter IOA I head over to Hulk I am informed that I must stow my bag in a locker, so I head over and do that. Walked right on I did use FOTL, but really didnt need to. I could have waited the 5 five minutes, but wanted to try the FOTL!! It was ok not my favorite coaster, but it was fun. I then head over to Dudley DH hates water rides, so I wanted to see if he would get wet or not and I got soaked. I dont mean a little wet, I mean I might as well have sat under a shower head and let it run over me for 5 minutes. I never thought I would get that wet, though I was prepared to get a little wet. Even though I am miserable, I head on over to ride Jurassic Park. It is cute, but I was a little disappointed. I was thinking that the drop would be longer it wasnt bad, and I didnt seem to get any wetter!!
I then decide to head over to Dueling Dragons I had to stow my things again, and used the FOTL for this one I decided to wait in the front row line. I knew that if DH went on this, he wouldnt want to do the front row, so I took my chance and waited. The line was slow moving, since they were only running one car for both Fire and Ice but they were BOTH running! I loved this one the best! I was cool. It is now about 6:20pm, so I grab a Cherry Icee, and head back to the hotel.
My feet are really yelling at me now, so I am wondering what is wrong. I get back to the room and find out that DH didnt sleep at all. The way he has to swallow makes me nauseated, but it is the only way. He is also talking a little weird now, so I start to get nervous. I decide that we need to get him to a Dr, so I check the phone book. I then realize, I have no idea where these places are, and which one is closest. I decide to try to call the front desk for help. Let me just say that I am a little shocked that no one within this hotel can tell me where to find either a 24 hour medical facility or a hospital. That is pretty poor service if you ask me. I remember asking one person Is there ANYONE that can help?. Not a soul. I then remember Celebration Hospital close to Disney property, and told DH to get dressed and we are going. It is about 8:00pm now, and poor DH has to drive since I still cant drive the truck in traffic. We find Celebration with no problem and head through the Emergency entrance. There are two other people in there both with babies. I hate seeing little babies sick in a hospital! We are given forms to fill out, and soon, DH is on the list. They call in one of the babies, and then DH is called but just then an asthmatic case rushes in. This poor girl must have been around 12 or so, and just couldnt catch her breath. I sympathized with her, as I also have asthma so DH just had to wait. Within about 20 minutes, DH was called in and I waited out in the waiting area for him. About two other cases came in while I waited actually 3, one of which was a Disney employee and it looked like she has either broken her arm, or hurt it some other way. After about 45 minutes, DH emerges, and he tells me that he was given prescriptions for an antibiotic and a cough syrup with codeine to help him sleep. He was on the verge of a bad case of Strep ACK. Good thing I was already on meds!! They gave him a dose at the hospital, so we decide not to get the presc. filled until morning. Dh asks me if I want to stop and get something to eat, and I say no. I have Pringles in the room to snack on we are back in the room around 10:30 I snack awhile, and then head for bed. I then realize that the pillow's have feathers in them!!
I am allergic, so I give DH my pillows, and decide to use the extra blanket as a pillow. I was too tired to call Housekeeping, and the blanket did just fine for me.
DH tries to sleep, but I know he was awake atleast once during the night. I hope he is able to rest to get better!!
Tomorrow check into Beach Club Villas and the start of our WDW vacation!
