He'll definitely be missed. Dh and I danced to Angel Eyes for our first dance at our wedding 18 years ago. Regretably we never saw him in concert but came close. He was playing Halifax at a small club just after that song came out and we went to see him but the line up to get in was around the block on a very chilly night so we gave up. . I've always wished we stuck it out.
I saw him at QB's in Burlington a looooong time ago. I sat a foot away from his guitar. When he finished singing Angel Eyes, I whispered "play it again' and he did, I was thrilled. He grew up in Oakville and my husband lived down the street from his family. DH says you never would have met a greater person and the family was awsome.
RIP Jeff, you will always be in our hearts, your suffering is gone, now see Jesus and play for him....
41 years old, taken away far too young bless your wife, children and rest of family too.
I first saw Jeff Healey at the University of Windsor Pub in 1988. I remember being upset because it was normally no cover but because there was a band it was $2. I didn't know who he was then, I'm not sure many did. But he was awesome! My husband and I payed a lot more than 2 bucks to see him in the coming years. I just went downstairs and pulled out his album (yes that is record album) of his that we have. When my husband gets home I will have him hook up our turntable so we can listen to it. This is truly a sad day.
We've seen him a few times here and there. We were so excited one day we went to Canada's Wonderland and heard music..we went to see who it was and it was Jeff and Tom Cochrane. Our kids sat and watched the whole time and it was a fabulous day.
Kyle was telling me last night about being in downtown Toronto one day with his friend and there was some sort of reading festival. Jeff was reading children's stories to a pack of kids and his own daughter was there too. He was amazing in everything he did.
My daughter knew him, she also had retinablastoma, cancer of the eyes. That cancer you can only get up to the age of 5. But there is always complications after that, it can spread. RIP Jeff
