Hi all!

Next June we'll be going back to WDW, and my daughter wants to do Jedi Training at HS (assuming that it's still there, who knows as of right now). Can someone tell me of their experience? From getting signed up to after the show.

TIA!

We did it last June with our two kids (son 8 & daughter 6). At rope drop we headed over to the signup area; got that done and went back to the main crowd to wait for them to release us to rides so we didn't even miss actual rope drop. I think our time was 1:10, which was our preferred time.

Came back 30 minutes early as told. It was extremely hot, but the kids had fun. We had a ton of pictures from it in our Memory Maker that I guess included every picture they took of all the kids in that show. Any specific questions?

Nope! I really just want to know how it fits into people days, the hassle of signing up, if there's a mad rush to get the kids signed up. Stuff like that.

There was a mini mad rush, but it wasn't a big deal. We just walked at our usual fast pace. If you're looking for the earliest time, it might be better to be closer to the front, but I don't know how necessary even that is.

Keep in mind this was last year, and things could change by next year, but by your original post, I think you're aware of that.

Yeah, I've been prepping my daughter as well. We'll see what they say at D23.

My two sons did Jedi Training last week. We got to the park around 8:15 for a 9:00 opening. At around 8:40 we were allowed into the park, Jedi Training sign ups were open, but the rides didn't open until 9:00. We walked briskly to the sign up area. I would guess that we waited around 10-15 minutes before we were able to sign up. We were done signing up before the other sections of the park were open. However, the sign up line at that point was much longer. I would estimate at least 30 minutes for those at the end, probably more. We were right in position to walk onto Star Tours twice with no wait at all. The morning went super smoothly because we got there as early as we did. Let me know if you have any other questions.

What age kid normally would do this?

The kids have to be between 4-12. My boys are 5 and 7 and enjoyed it very much.

Wait...so you can sign up WITHOUT missing valuable park opening ride time? I didn't know you were let in before park opening to sign up. Is it possible to sign up and still ride Toy Story or RnR at rope drop

Thanks! I was wondering if my 13 year old might like it but looks like it's not an option

Yes, signups start after you go through the turnstiles but before actual rope drop. We went to RnR after our signup, but we had to wait with everyone else on Hollywood Boulevard for park opening rope drop.

What time did you get? Was it your first choice?

When we did it, you weren't given a choice of time. They booked the people who go there first, then filled the next time slot, etc. We got there at RD and practically ran to sign up, and somehow got a time for after lunch! We had to adjust our day around, but my son loved it.

This is what we did just last week. We had a 8:05 PPO breakfast at H&V reserved. We got there extra early because I'm crazy and we're first in line at the tap. AT 7:55, they waved us through. My husband and 4 year old briskly walked to the sign up area while I checked in at H&V. They were first in line and chose the first time (9:40). He had to be back at 9:10. We were in the restaurant by 8:10. We got to meet all the characters and eat our fill and left the restaurant at 9:05. My son got in line and it took about 10 minutes for them to get all set up and then march from the sign up area to where the stage is and started exactly at 9:40, and were done at 10. Which was perfect because we had a fast pass at 10.

YES!! I am glad to hear you can sign up and still be able to take advantage of rope drop lines! We will be there for DD's 11th birthday, she loves Star Wars, and her favorite ride is RnR, glad we will have a chance to do both!

We are planning to be at DHS on an early EMH day. Any advice on when to show up to make sure we can sign up for Jedi training? If park opens at 8AM for early EMH, can we arrive at 7:45am and be ok? We are going in August, and we don't have too much else that we plan to do at DHS (TSMM, Star Tours maybe RnR, Launch Bay, - kids are only 6 and 4), so hoping for an early time for Jedi Training. Thanks!

Go on a day when there are no emh. Get a ppo adr for H&V. Get in early before park opens, sign up before eating. We did this last week. Had our choice of times. By the time they allowed people in, 8:30, for general opening, ,oat slots were filled, lines were very long and many people were turned away. Also, watch the hour by hour forecast. If it rains it is cancelled with no rain checks.

7:45 will be much too late, especially if you want an early time. I'd be there by 7 or a few minutes after.

That's my plan! I got an 8:30 ADR!

Yikes, okay and thanks for the tips. Unfortunately, I already set things up with Fastpass to be there on an EMH day (I've been going back and forth about what days to go to what parks, but was convinced by others here to use the early EMH with little kids). Didn't realize that even with EMH, I will need to be there well before park opening. That's going to be tough, but I may need to give it a try. So the H&V is the easiest way to make sure you have a time slot? I can try to swap my fast passes for a different day. I'm at day 50 something now (my 60+ window opened on Tuesday morning), so worried about making lots of big moves on the fastpass front. Maybe it doesn't matter as much for DHS and Epcot though (FOP at AK seems to be the hardest).
