Jedi Training - Tell me what's up

I have an 8am ADR for Hollywood & Vine specifically so we can sign up for Jedi training early. I've never done an ADR before parks opens. What's the protocol? Where should we go or what should we be looking for to be allowed into the park early for our ADR (and to get to Jedi Training). What's the ideal time to show up? Thanks guys

We did this a few weeks ago. There was a separate line at the tapstiles for ADR, with a CM checking your name on a list to get into the line. The day we were there, the ADR line was on the left. They'll let you in, and you go directly to Jedi sign-ups, before H&V ... the day we did it, there were a few CMs in the park directing us where to go. It was really easy and clear.

I don't remember what time they started letting people in ... but it was before 8.

If you get there before 8, you won't have any problems getting signed up ... and likely will have your pick of any shows.

The early breakfast line is always on the left at DHS. A CM will be waiting to verify that you have an ADR before you can get in that line. They let everyone in right before 8 and you can sign up for Jedi training before you check in for breakfast. We have always been allowed to pick our show times. We were there this past Saturday and I noticed they still had a sign up saying slots were still available at noon when we walked by, so being there right at RD doesn't seem to be absolutely necessary anymore if your schedule is flexible.

Also, if you pick a show later in the day, they now use light sabers that light up.

So... we want to do Jedi Training but not with an ADR. We are going to HS on a non-EMH day. A previous poster made it sound like if we are there around 7:30 ish we can sign up (in between tapping and the rope areas) without much trouble. Is that the general consensus? Any tips? I've read to stay to the left, have kids with you, and walk "briskly."

My kids are past the H&V breakfast stage, or we would do that for sure

We did it in February and basically followed this advice. The park opened at 9 the day we were there...I think we were off the bus around 8:20. They let us in around 8:45-8:50ish and we were signed up and rejoined the general rope drop line before the park opened. We were able to choose our time - we made a list of which shows we wanted in order of preference the night before so it was super easy at sign up. We did a show after lunch so it didn't interfere with our FPs at all. The CMs told us to have our FP list out so they could work around them. The actual Jedi Training takes awhile because you have to line up early BUT...it was the highlight of the trip for my Star Wars obsessed daughter. She is STILL talking about how she fought the REAL DARTH VADAR. Totally worth getting there super early if you have a Star Wars fan.

Thanks so much for your reply! I think we are going to get there early and try our luck.

This will be our plan too. Where exactly is the sign up?

This is what we did just last week. We had a 8:05 PPO breakfast at H&V reserved. We got there extra early because I'm crazy and we're first in line at the tap. AT 7:55, they waved us through. My husband and 4 year old briskly walked to the sign up area while I checked in at H&V. They were first in line and chose the first time (9:40). He had to be back at 9:10. We were in the restaurant by 8:10. We got to meet all the characters and eat our fill and left the restaurant at 9:05. My son got in line and it took about 10 minutes for them to get all set up and then march from the sign up area to where the stage is and started exactly at 9:40, and were done at 10. Which was perfect because we had a fast pass at 10.
This is precisely what we did. The Hollywood and vine hostess even asked if we had already signed up for Jedi training before they seated us. It was perfect. No stress. No lines. Nice relaxing breakfast. We did the 10:10 slot to have more time and thank goodness we did. They cancelled the first round for technical reasons. He would have been crushed!

Can you pick a time when you get to the table as we would like a 1pm time so that its after the prime time riding times that have the low wait times in the morning

Is there any way to ensure we have Darth Vader? The WDW site lists seventh sister as well, we much prefer Vader. Do they alternate performances or anything?

Is it worth getting an ADR for 8:25 at H+V on a EMH day to get signed up for Jedi Training? Not sure how early they would let us in to sign up.

We did HV in Nov 2016 and it was nice but we had FD, they also gave out FP+ when you signed up. I don't know if they are still doing this? Anyhow, next March we are going and will not spend $200 on a breakfast (family of 6) so we will just get there early. I also think it's better to go on a non EMH day as they open the tap stiles a little sooner I think?

We could pick our time. They may have tried to recommend a time but we could request what we wanted.

Your best bet to ask a CM when you arrive and request my group. There is a system to where they place you and who you ultimately face, but it can change a little from day to day. It's usually the same, but not always.

Join me, and I will complete your training. With our combined strength, we can end this destructive conflict and bring order to the galaxy.

So when you signed up for Jedi they gave you a bonus FP+?

Yes but that was 7 months ago so I'm not sure if they are still doing it. Would like to know myself! It was a paper FP good for up to 5. Since there are 6 in our family they gave us 2.

We are going in two weeks; I'll try to report back.

We did this a couple of months ago with our 4-year old; we're locals, and literally came to the park to do this and head home. We arrived at the park at opening with no EMH that day, and headed straight to the sign-up - the first time they could offer us was 3pm! So definitely get there early, especially if you want an early time, and prepare to be flexible with times.

A CM told us that we could give up our guaranteed 3pm slot and wait around at the earlier times to see if anyone didn't show up, so that's what we decided to do. We were incredibly lucky that someone didn't show up for the very first show, so we were able to get in there at the last minute. They were very strict on timing; one kid needed to go to the bathroom and the CM told him "you've literally got less than 2 minutes or we'll leave without you!" His dad picked him up and sprinted to the bathrooms with him!

4-years old is the minimum age, and the two 4-year olds in the group (my son and another little girl) were definitely a bit intimidated. The CMs were amazing though; my son saw Darth Vader and looked terrified, but one of the CMs was right there talking to him and telling him not to worry. He ended up battling the Seventh Sister instead, and although I don't think he'll be winning any light saber battles int he future, he really enjoyed it.

Yes, they will let you pick from the times that still have openings.

You should ask the CM as mentioned, but if the line ups are outside (seems like they aren't always), the blue spots closer to the lake fight Vader, while the blue spots closer to the building fight 7th sister. If you have multiple kids, they want all the kids in the same line ... if your kids want to split like my grandkids did (2 wanted 7th sister, 1 wanted Vader), it is helpful to have 2 adults there so that 1 adult can stay with each set of kids.

I think it is. For us, it was probably the most important thing to do in Disney. Having an 8:35 ADR really eased my mind that we'd accomplish the goal. Note that the time of the ADR doesn't seem to really matter. They will let you in before 8 no matter your time ... and you can go sign up, then go to H&V and eat before your ADR time. Our ADR was 8:35, we were eating by 8:15, and we were a party of 8.

Didn't get any FP first week of June.

This will be our plan too. Where exactly is the sign up?

It's to the left of the Indiana Jones show entrance. After you pass the tapstiles, go straight to the first main intersection, turn left. Pass Hollywood and Vine on your left, then when you get to Indiana Jones, turn left again. When we did it in early June, there were CMs directing people to the sign-ups.
