headed to DHS in a few weeks. Wanting to get our young padawans trained in the Jedi arts.

Currently have an 8am ADR at Hollywood & Vine. I know doing this was the best strategy for getting a spot, is this still valid? I feel I have heard/read that Disney no longer allows people to leave their meal and do this.

Please advise. Thanks.

I'm not sure if I can answer your question specifically, but I will tell you that we went to Hollywood Studios on 1/5/16. We had a bit of a late start, so did not get over to sign my 2 boys up for the Jedi Training until about noon - hoping for a slot. We had no trouble signing up for the last show of the day. It was really awesome, one of the highlights of our trip. Good luck!

I did not do that reservation so I don't know. What we did was: On arrival to park, one parent runs to jedi training to sign up child. Other parent ran to toy story for fast pass. However, with FP plus, this is probably not necessary now.

I went in April and they allowed my husband and son to wait at the entrance to H&V until the gates were open and people started coming close. Then they were allowed to get to JTA signups. They were not allowed to head over early though.

From H&V, you won't be allowed any further into the park than the rope droppers, and will have to rush your breakfast. if you aren't explicitly interested in breakfast (with Disney Junior characters), you're better off just rope dropping it these days.

We didn't make rope drop over New Years weekend and arrived late. Had no trouble signing up all 4 kids and had our pick of shows. All were still open. They have doubled the capacity and it doesn't seem as competitive to get a spot anymore.

Thank you for these updates. Will be at DHS in 6 days. Is the consensus still better to be there at rope drop (esp. with MLK weekend the weekend we are there) or was is really that there were that many spaces available?

Both my daughters want to do this but one just turned 13 - will they still let her sign up? Assuming they do would it even appeal to her or is it geared for the younger kids?

They won't let the 13 year old sign up. Age range is 4-12.

Where do we go to sign up now? We never tried it before since we never make rope drop. But now that I might stand a chance I think we'll give it a whirl. Also, do the kids need to be there in person to sign up (in case I'm awake and out of the room earlier than everyone else)?

Yes, participants must be there with the adult
You go to the store next to Indy Jones show, between the show and 50's Prime Time

My experience is from last August, so not sure if it's still current or now. We did H&V 8:00am ADR (for a 9am opening) and we were done by 8:40 (not rushed and saw all characters). When we exited H&V, there was a CM there not allowing us to proceed to Jedi Training, but we were "released" as soon as the first person goes through the front turnstile (it's when the music starts, that's how the other CMs are aware) at about 8:45, so you do end up ahead of the rope drop crowd by the difference of the distance from front gate to H&V. We were with a a couple other families out of H&V and we easily got to the signup ahead of everyone else. We actually ended up very first to sign up that day.

Thank you! I thought maybe with all the Launch Bay stuff that the show and sign up had moved over there. And, actually, I thought the sign up used to be somewhere else completely different (ABC Theater, maybe?) so I'm glad I asked. To the Indy store we shall go.

And, well, if the kids want to do this then I guess they have to motivate themselves to get out of bed and show up in person. At least this sounds like we don't have to get up crazy early anymore and can take our chances.

There are a lot more spaces. More shows AND more kids in each show.
But, if you don't want to waste an hour or more in the morning in line to sign up, get there early.
And if you want a wide range of shows to choose from, get there early.
If you are fine with whatever is left, go later
I'd probably wait a couple hours after opening to sign up if I'm not going first thing. Otherwise, you waste time
And keep in mind, they will still cancel in the event of rain so plan accordingly.
I'd avoid mid afternoon times in the Summer and totally rearrange plans if it's a rainy day

It was somewhere else. Over by Sounds Dangerous building. That space is still being unused so I'm not sure why they changed the sign up location.
They just revamped the stage for the show. It's still in it's same place, just different set now.
I imagine when Star Wars land is completed and open we'll see Launch Bay move too.
I think the one in the Animation Building is a placeholder to give something more to HS while they build all the new stuff
But that's just my guess

Wait, so signups moved?

Across the "street" to the Indy shop? Isn't that all outdoors? How do they manage the huge lines of people, and the folks waiting for their shows? The little lobby where signups used to be seems like such a better idea...

Yes, they moved.
You sign up in the store.
In the mornings the line forms in the Fast Pass Queue entrance for the Indy Jones show (similar location to where they did it for JTA SWW sign ups)
You wait gather/check in for your show beside the store, closer to 50's Prime Time entrance
It is not as good a location for signups as the old spot but it's where it is

Thanks everyone for the replies. So, it sounds as if the rumor of having an ADR at H&V as being a hinderance to the sign up process is unfounded. That with the increased capacity sounds like wins all around.

Thanks everyone for the info.

We had 8am reservations at h&v and let our waitress know we wanted to be out by 8:45. We were the first to arrive at H&v so got a special pic with all 4 characters. I asked the waitress to give us the check when we ordered drinks. We are and were out 8:45. The cast member outside let us stand out front and as soon as park opened we went to Jedi signup and were the first ones there.

SO in light of the way the line moves in the morning, if you are not among the first to arrive, should I understand that the sign up line takes an hour to die down? Or longer? We are not picky about being in the earliest show. I also will have a slow walker in tow. I'm thinking we should ride one or 2 rides at rope drop and then sign up. How does that sound? We'd prefer to ride rides in those first 2 hours since it will be spring break.
