We have an 8:00am ADR at Hollywood &Vine on a normal park opening day. Is it reasonable to think that we can sign up for the Jedi Training Academy and still make it over to TSMM to ride standby without a crazy wait?

Be aware that DHS might open to regular guests up to 30 minutes BEFORE the stated (9AM) opening time.

You want to ask for (and settle up) your meal bill just as soon as you are seated so that you won't be stuck if you have a slow waiter.

If there are slower members of your party, send them along directly to TSMM...
to wait outside for those others who have gone to JT sign-up... to finally make it to TSMM.

It is no longer a given that having an early ADR is a good plan for beating the crowds to JT or TSMM.
In fact, if getting to the attractions early is a priority, I'd not do an early-entry ADR, but instead, get a breakfast ADR
for after 10AM-ish, and use the early-morning time for JT sign-up and riding attractions.

If just going in at Rope Drop - how long does sign up for JT take? We are hoping to go straight to JTA to sign up the kids then split up and 2 of us go to TSMM and 2 to RNRC.

Get to DHS at least 45 minutes before the scheduled park opening so you can head to JTA sign-ups as quickly as possible. It can take a few minutes if you are one of the first families there. If you are a little late, it could take 30 minutes or more.

Is it an EMH day or a regular park opening day?

I was one of the first few at the tapstiles but walked (did not run or speed walk) to sign ups. Our sign up process took me about 30min total from tap stiles to completed. Walked (didnt rush) to RnR & were in line by 9:30. Our standby was still short, but line was long by the time we were off. Sorry, i dont know about TSMM since we had fps for later.

Were you still able to choose the show that you wanted or was selection very limited by the time you got to the front of the sign up line?

Many other people did run or speed walk past us. We wanted a late afternoon time anyway and were able to choose it, but the first three shows were full, first available was 11:50, about half full, all others had times.
Crowd level was 4/10 and no emh that day

Thanks for this information. Sounds about like the crowd level the day we will be there. I don't want to run, so I'm glad to hear that there were still spots available!

Last week we got to the HS line at 8:25. They started letting people in at 8:53. DH's finger didn't scan right and the workers were SO not helpful, so we left him there and I took the 2 kids and walked pretty fast to the JKT sign up - we were outside the building but not far out for the line. It took us about 20-25 minutes to get registered for the show. We had TSMM FP for later so we just went to meet characters at that point.

Good luck!
