Jedi Training Academy

Hello all! We will be at WDW late May and my DS is interested in doing the Jedi Training Academy at HS. We have been there several times and have seen it in person, but my DS was always to afraid and shy before. So we understand what its about. My question is about getting signed up for it? Whats the best strategy? Where is the sign up and what time do I need to get there to make sure he makes the list? Are there any other details I should know about. I appreciate any and all help on this. Thank you in advance!!!

Get there 30 minutes before park open so you are ready to go, follow the mad dash of humans to the left. They will be the bunch speed walking/running. Signups are at the Indiana Jones outpost, cast members are holding signs to direct you. He must be with you to sign up. Have a time in mind before you get up there, and know what the forecast is. Earlier ones fill up fast, but if the weather allows, I love the dusk shows. They fire up the light sabers with sound effects, looks really cool. Good luck!

If you are there at RD and aren't picky about times, you should be able to get in.

I am worried my son is going to be afraid. Last trip, we did the early morning signup and signed him up and he wouldn't do it. He's a bit older now, so I am hoping he's up for it, since we have 3 spots reserved already for our HS day (by our VIP guide). I actually think it's pretty scary for tiny kids lol.

The child will be signed up and then will need to go with at least one adult back before the session to talk to a Cast Member to make sure the child is able to follow instructions. So, plan for that time from your visit. Also, if you have other adults and/or children, you can send them over to the stage area to get a spot as the adult with the child will be there until right before the show.

We signed up for the last one for the beginning of June last year and the CM said it was unlikely they would light up because it doesn't get dark enough during the late Spring/Summer. We did it anyway and we got rained out. I am doing the first show this year. And a Hollywood & Vine pre-park opening ADR to get signed up beforehand because while we were at DHS by 8:20 on a 9am open last year, my 4 yr old couldn't speed walk fast enough so we had to wait 40 minutes just to sign up.

Yeah, I should have mentioned, we were there last in February. It was getting dark by 5:30-6 PM

Jedi Training is just, ugh. The line, the waiting and then the waiting. Get there early! Know that you will likely have to move some FP+ around to accommodate the time you get (you get choose but the earlier shows go first). Also, if it rains a drop it gets cancelled so maybe plan a back-up day to sign up again.

How quickly does the Jedi Training line move? We got in line for it last year at rope drop. This year we also want to hit Rock 'n' roller coaster at rope drop. Is it possible to do both? I don't want to wait an hour for the roller coaster. I am worried that my girls will chicken out again and that precious time when the park first opens will have been wasted! This show seems to suck up a ton of time after waiting in line to sign up, arriving 30 min. pre show, and then the show itself. I don't know what to do! Is it really worth it? I am trying to coordinate fastpass times since my 60 window opens next week.

Another possible option: my parents are traveling with us (we will be a group of 14). I know they won't ride rock 'n' roller coaster, would they be allowed to wait in the line with the kids and get them signed up, while the "big" kids (aka their parents) go to ride rock 'n' roller coaster? I don't know if they will want to deal with 6 kids 9 and under at Disney by themselves though......

But yes, you could have the grands wait with them instead. I let my 4 yr old play with my phone bc he got bored rather quickly. If your kids/group can move fast, it may not take that long to wait. Just depends how fast you get over there. We decided to do a PPO ADR at Hollywood & Vine this year so we can sign up before our 8:15 ressie and not hassle with the line.

Can you clarify this? We have a H&V reservation at 8:05 when park opens at 9. I thought we would have to go to Jedi sign up right after we eat closer to 9 but have advantage bc H&V exit is close to signup. Are you saying we can sign up before breakfast when park not officially open? Thanks!

That has been the usual procedure for quite some time now. I've read about it on these boards numerous times. As far as I know this isn't official policy stated anywhere so it is subject to change at any time, but currently this is what is being allowed.

It makes sense to me bc the general public can be let in as early as 8:15 or 8:20 to sign up. For us, last year, we were let in at 8:20. We were done with sign ups by 9.

I was there early last summer (around 8:30) and waited in the left turnstile. I was not let in early, however I didn't ask to be let in early. Did you ask someone to go in to sign up? We went in with the rest of the masses waiting out front and the Jedi line was quite long already when we got there.

No, I did not ask. I just followed the group that was there. I have no idea if they asked or not, but it was quite a big group waiting. They may have already been let in by the time you got there, so you may have needed to ask at that point. I went on Friday 6/10.

That is good to know. I will aim for getting there earlier this year. If I remember correctly, it took a while to get a bus to HS that morning from POR. This year we are staying at CSR, which is much closer to HS.
