Does anyone have any advice on how to get your kids on stage for the Jedi Training Academy? We have only done it in WDW for Star Wars weekend? So I am assuming the long line to get a ticket for a specific show time and then come to that show 30 minutes early is different than how they do it in DL. Any tips and advice for it is greatly appreciated it. We are going in October.

There are no tickets for Jedi Academy. You just show up.

If your kids are young they're in. In October it won't be crowded (except Halloween). They have room for about 30 or so kids. Our kids got in. They were 9 and 11. Missed getting in the noon show. Got in the 4:30 show.

Really, that time of year, not a problem. You may not get them in the first time but eventually it shouldn't be a problem.

Enjoy!

The selection process is nothing like WDW.

When we visited in October (on a Wed/Thurs) the the crowds were moderate. Probably twice as many padewans NOT selected as those selected. :(

Lots & Lots of tips & experiences in the JTA Superthread linked here:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1478699

I would read the first page & the last two pages (at the very least).

Top 3 "tips":

- Snag spot for the little padewan on the front row.
- Have a small (fun) sign.
- Tell your young padewan to jump up & down enthusiastically (& wave the sign high) when the Master Jedi makes his selections.

Have a great time & good luck. :thumbsup2

:)

It is different than in WDW. I have never been to the WDW one before so I have no idea what that's like.

If your kids want to get picked, they need to show it. Jumping up and down, excited, screaming. Not YOU pointing excitedly at your kid. They want participants that are excited and want to be there. A Star Wars shirt or ears never hurts.

We went in first week of November and there were no crowds in the park. However, there were about 60 kids at the Jedi show and only about 25 were picked. We got there about 20 minutes early and my son (9) sat in the front row, right in the middle. He wore a Star Wars shirt, and jumped up a little but not a ton. He got picked to go up on the stage. In the pictures, we noticed that he was on the only one that was in a Star Wars shirt so that must have clinched it for him. I did notice that they picked several pairs of siblings that were in matching shirts.... Very good for parents to not have to deal with one child picked and one not. So if you have more than one child, I would recommend they stay together and wear matching Star Wars shirts.

My DD (5) got picked in June, and it is all she talks about. She believes she really and truly fought Darth Vader and bested him with her light saber skills after being trained. About half the kids in the audience got picked in the show we attended, not including the 3 kids in our party who did not attempt to volunteer.

We had read here about the sign and the Star Wars shirt and sitting up front, so we did all that. And one member of our party also put DD's hair in Princess Leia buns, so that may have helped her get picked. ;) She was the only one in Leia hair (they said "that girl, with the...familiar...hairdo!), but there were 2other kids in SW shirts, 2 with SW ears, one boy already in a robe and another with his face painted like Darth Maul. There were only 5 girls out of 22 kids. They picked mostly from the left side of the audience as you face the stage.

Gah I wish they had that when I was a kid! I met some Star Wars characters at MGM when the Special Editions were in theaters but I didn't get to fight Darth Vader!
