we were at HS today. We arrived at about 8:15 to do rope drop. having researched where to line up, we headed to the far left near the breakfast reservation area. A cast member dressed in Jedi training attire asked if we were hoping to sign up, for which we said yes. We were directed to a far left lane, right next to where ppl w/ADRs were being let in. They explained they were trying something new, a Marching Jedi parade to sign ups. All ppl who were there for that reason were let into the park at around 840. Bc we were 2nd in line, my son was able to hold a light saber banner with another child & lead the procession to sign ups. Guest at Hollywood & vine were held back until we passed. We were thrilled bc we got the 9:15 show. We never thought it was possible, but the way the "Jedi parade" worked today was awesome!! Absolutely NO running!

Thanks for the report!

Thanks for sharing! That's so cool your son got in the first show!!

Now if they continue this, there won't be an advantage having a breakfast ADR at H&V.

Yep, which means Disney will be losing even more of our money. It's puzzling to me that they would insist on penalizing a handful of guests who happen to be in the park early, but whatever. They've done a few different JTA signup tests over the last year or so...we'll see what happens with this. I have 66 days until it becomes an issue for me.

I love it, last year we had to make the mad dash walk/run to signups. That would just add the "something extra" to it.

That sounds great. I wonder if this will be in place when we head there in September. My older two loved it and now my youngest is old enough to try it while my older two cheer him on.

This is a must do for us and the one that gives me the most stress because I can't guarantee it until that day. The little parade sounds awesome and what fun for your son!!

We're heading to WDW next week and JTA is on our agenda. Hope the test is still in place. Much less stressful than running!

Thanks for sharing this! You should change the title so it doesn't seem like another JTA question forum. I almost skipped it.

I have a H&V ADR not to get ahead of the line but just so we can multitask while waiting to get into the park. If we are detoured to the back I will most certainly cancel our bfast ADR as my son doesn't care THAT much about those characters.

We have an 8:00 H & V reservation in October, I'm hoping they don't keep it this way. Doesn't seem right that we should have to wait until it passes, why not be able to join in?

I don't mind if breakfast ADRs get a jump. Although, we never do pre-park ADRs. I just think the parade sounds like a lot of fun for the kids though.

I read on another thread where BOG pre-opening ADR people were held back until all of the rope drop people passed by. I wonder if this is becoming a new trend.

I seriously doubt that.

The BOG situation appears to have been an errant CM.

To clarify, They were allowed to join, but after the group who was lined up outside the gates had passed. It was my 1st time in HS in about 15 years, so I didn't know where H&V was until we were walking by it. I didn't get a perfect look bc I was fixated on watching my son lead, but it appeared as if CMs were having H&V guests wait until we passed to join.

I personally think it's ridiculous to hold back the breakfast crowd for the RD people to sign up first. The people with the early BF ADRs were in the park first, so it only seems fair that they should be able to head to sign-ups instead of being held back. It's a historical perk of having an early ADR at H&V. Guess that may no longer be the case. I'm sure some will cancel their BF ADRs if this keeps up...

Just like with BOG, I don't think that anyone needs to panic. One day does not mean policy change, and the OP has come back and clarified that they're not even sure exactly what happened with the H&V guests. Plus, having done this a pre-park ADR at H&V at least 5 times, I can say that we've never been followed out of H&V to JTA by more than 5 other families (and it's usually one or two) so I really don't think there are that many people who book H&V for this reason.

Why should eating breakfast in an air conditioned building give you the right to be in the front of a line for JTA? The way I see it, you were entertained for an hour while others stood in line. It's not like Disney advertises that the ADR gives you first in line access. And there is precedence for this, Fantasmic Dinner package comes to mind. Just my 2 cents.

We will be doing JTA for the first times in December and this would be great. I have no idea what to expect but I assume it's very popular to sign up first thing to get early shows and get it out of the way, right?

It's very highly recommended to sign up as soon as possible to select the JTA session that fits your FP and ADR schedule. Also the fact the sessions do fill up quickly depending on the day (EMH or not) and the number of groups (1 or 2) training during each session.
