Jeans for dinner?

I never have thought jeans looked right in any of the dining rooms, regardless that they're now permitted. I'm also sick of popcorn, (makes me too thirsty) and have to have a certain craving for twizzlers.(Now is not the time.) I want some DOTS! :rotfl2:

On our West Coast Magic cruise July 2 we did not see anyone in jeans or shorts on the casual nights. I didn't even tell my 3 teens before we left for Ca. that jeans were acceptable. I stilll wanted my DS's in dockers and my DD skirts or capris. They wear jeans enough at home when we go out that I wanted dining on the cruise to be feel more like special occassion.

If you would like to see the history of this great debate just search for "dress code." Be sure that you have a nice selection of snacks before you start reading though. ;)

Can you guess that I was on the same cruise as AOPI57? Two Wendys can't make a wrong, right? Now, as for snacks... I'm in the mood for Good n' Plenty! :rotfl:

I don't mean to cause trouble, but I've never understood why everyone here says Disney allows jeans now :confused3 On their site and in the booklet you receive with the documentation (at least for our Wonder cruise on the 24th)in bold it states:
"{besides Triton/Palos} All other dining rooms recommend resort casual wear; no shorts, jeans or tank tops, please."

Actually on DCL website it says the following:

What should I wear to dinner?

Dining Dress requirements vary by venue or theme night on your cruise. In general, most meals are "Cruise Casual" -- no shorts, swimwear or tank tops. Most cruises also have special theme nights with additional attire requirements. Here's a breakdown of these events by cruise itinerary.

On 3-night cruises:

First night: cruise casual — no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
Second night: pirate or tropical deck party
Final night: "dress-up night" — jacket for men, dress or pantsuit for women
On 4-night cruises:
First night: cruise casual — no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
One pirate or tropical night (deck party)
One "dress-up night" — jacket for men, dress or pantsuit for women
Final night: cruise casual — no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
On 7-night cruises:
First night: cruise casual — no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
Three additional "cruise casual" nights — no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
One pirate or tropical night (deck party)
One formal and one semi-formal night — formal wear for men: tuxedo or suit; for women: gown or dress; semi-formal wear for men: suit/jacket; for women: dress or pantsuit.
Dress for dinner at Palo on all cruises:
Men: dress shirt or jacket
Women: dress or pantsuit

So Disney does allow jeans as resort casual now.

While alot of us would LOVE for the suggested dress to be the same as in the past, it has changed this year to what the last poster has quoted from the DCL site. Your doc information is just another example of DCL being behind on updating all of their information. The navigators on the ship also say what is on the site now.

Whoops! I could've sworn I saw it on the site too :p
Somewhere in the "my cruise plans" section of the site it says jeans are "appropriate daytime attire" but long pants are appropriate evening. Maybe DCL isn't exactly encouraging jeans for dinner but is trying to please everyone by letting it go? I don't know, but I took out my husbands jeans he tried to sneak in the suitcase and replaced them with khaki's- he looks better in them anyway :teeth:

It wouldn't surprise me at all for that to be somewhere on the site. They must have different people editing different sections. It's just like the change to saying that the $10 for Palo is the tip when we all know that it isn't.

since we're on the topic of not following dress codes, i thought it would be funny to tell the story of how a girl showed up on FORMAL night (not on our disney, but our princess cruise) in a bikini top and mesh shorts to the restaurant we were eating at... she could've at least put a shirt on... ;)

when we went on our disney cruise though, i don't think i saw anyone wearing jeans, granted this was 3 years ago. i just took my linen pants with me, i don't think i'd even thought about bringing jeans on the cruise, it was way too hot.

The dress on our recent 4 day was really casual and shorts (nice and casual) were everywhere. Our guys wore nice shorts outfits and would/will again. Sorry if it offends anyone.

Am I too late for the nachos??? I always seem to be late where there are good snacks involved.

While it will not offend me at all to see someone in jeans, I will not be wearing any jeans on my cruise, neither will I let my DD. 9 months ago when I booked the cruise my DH complained about dressing up for dinner. Now he's bought some clothes to match my little black dress for dinner and says he will dress up in the other restaurants too. I just think it will be fun to dress up.
Now, nice flip flops with my sundresses, that's another story. Hehe

I am in the mood for some chocolate now. :) Anyone for brownies?

We were just on a Carnival cruise and we saw many people turned away from the dining room at the door because they were wearing inapproprite attire....shorts, beach wear, etc. The had a dining staff member stopping people at the door and asking them to change before they came into the dining room. I was glad to see the dress code for dinner strictly enforced. They were also very diligent in keeping under 18 year olds away from the adult only pool.

They had leeches for dinner, why not jeans?

I wore them once to Lumiere's on the last night of the 14 day cruise when I was way too tired to change out of them. We were approaching California and it wasn't tropical, it was COLD. Sorry Peter, you probably saw them.

There's photos out there somewhere.
