Jealous of Chicagoland.. anyone want a Boston Meet?

What about one of the Boston Harbor cruises? Both the Odyssey and the Spirit of Boston offer brunch cruises and group discounts. There are also a couple of other cruises, but it looks like they end at the end of September.

Here's a lunch cruise offered on the 18th of October on the Spirit of Boston...

* Lunch Cruise
- BOOK NOW!

This Cruise Package Includes:
Fun and Festive Cruise - A member of our crew will escort you to your table for a two-hour afternoon of unparalleled cruising fun. Many tables are designed for seating with other guests, reminiscent of ocean-going cruises. Order drinks, then get ready for the time of your life.

Drinks - Coffee, tea, iced tea and water are complimentary. You may also purchase mixed drinks, fine liqueurs, specialty waters, champagne and exceptional wines.

Dazzling City Views - Enjoy the city's famous waterfront from a totally different point of view through Spirit's huge panoramic windows, or from any of the ship's outdoor viewing decks.(See our cruise route.)

Bountiful Dining - Enjoy a crisp green salad served family-style at your table. When your waiter invites you to our Grande Buffet, feel free to select as much or as little as you like from an amazing array of entrees and side dishes. Finish off your meal with your choice of luscious desserts. (See our menu.)

Live Musical Revue - While you relax over coffee and dessert, Spirit's star-quality performers will dazzle you with a theatrical song and dance on the center stage. These exciting entertainers are among the finest "rising stars" in the city.( Sample our show.)

Dance, Dance, Dance - Spirit' s lunch cruises spotlight some of the hottest DJs in the city. For nearly two hours, you can rock or slow dance to a full range of dance hits including R&B, Country, Hip Hop, Pop, Top-40s, and even some line dances.

$36.90 per person
(Price does not include taxes, fuel surcharge, and administrative fees.)

Board: 11:30 a.m.
Cruise: 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

All prices and cruise times are subject to change.

A lunch looks almost affordable. I don't imagine it includes the tip, either, so it's probably close to $60 with tax, tip, etc.

I just sent an email request for group pricing for 20-49 people for a lunch cruise. I'll let you guys know what prices they come back with tomorrow. I did find this on the website:

Call us now at 866.429.9283 or click here to contact Spirit via email. We offer special package pricing for groups ranging from school proms to fabulous yacht weddings. Ask about seasonal specials. Spirit prices start at ...
Lunch from $28.90
Brunch from $34.90
Dinner from $50.90
Cocktails from $28.90
Prices do not include taxes, fuel surcharge fees or administrative fees. The administrative fee does not represent a tip or gratuity for our service staff and is used to cover certain direct cruise costs. Similar to a banquet facility, our service staff is paid a higher hourly wage to provide your onboard service. It is appropriate to leave a gratuity for any onboard purchases or if you feel that you received exceptional service.

It looks like we don't need to tip unless we want to......

Here's what I got back from the cruise line. What do people think? Is it out of the price range of what we want?

So, what does everyone think? Another option might be to reserve a room in a restaurant. I think I could get the back room at Doyle's in Jamaica Plain. There's free parking here too. We could have a bunch of food made or we could each order our own thing. What are we thinking at this point ?

I like the cruise idea. I think you can count me in as a definite. DH is a maybe.. he's kind of shy so I might have to go it alone.

I like the idea of a cruise, but I also understand if that's too pricey for people. If people would rather do a brunch, I'm sure we could find some place that would accomadate us and be affordable. There are lots of places for brunch in the greater Boston area.

I'm mainly a lurker, but it would be great to meet other DISers! (No one I know really understands the Disney love!) I live in western Mass, but wouldn't be able to make that date. I'll be on my honeymoon in Disney World. It's been almost two years since we've been down there...FAR too long! :)

Hopefully, there will be another meet that I can make it too!

I think that these are the boats out of Boston that my boss works for his second job (bartender). He stops this week until next summer.

I'm in!
Diane-r, please keep us posted as to Bob's service.

I like the cruise idea. Let's keep working on the date, so that most of us interested can go.

DW & I may attend, but I will be in Philly Oct 4 and she is running the Hartford marathon on Oct 11. If we can make it, we will, but I understand if the events get scheduled on one of these two dates.

Believe it or not, my weekends are pretty open right now. Can we get a vote on a date that works for everyone and a head count? I can email the group sales office and check dates and pricing.
