It's in Manchester I believe? right near the buckland hills mall...you can see it from 84...I would take the first exit for the mall, take a left at the end of the ramp, take a left where the olive garden is...and then follow that road down...I believe it spits you out to the outlet store)

but for some reason I'm thinking the outlet store is closed...

I'm pretty sure the outlet store in CT is closed. My sister and I used to go there once a year. we would make a weekend out of it, hitting a few outlet centers.

Just confirming that the one in CT did close - I used to go there occasionally, as it was only about 40 minutes from my house.

which is to bad, used to go at least once if not twice a year. But they closed it down almost 2 years ago now I believe.

Dang! Does anyone know if the one in Reading, PA is as good - or is it one of those "outlet" stores that tries to make you "think" you're getting a bargain (by virtue of the name "Outlet Store") when in all reality you can actually get the items for less elsewhere?

The Reading store used to be a regular ol' JC Penney store. A few years ago, when outlet shopping was booming in the area, they converted to the JC Penney Catalog Outlet store. You can find some bargins - I bought denim shorts for $5.99, cute chambray shirt for $4.99, Cabin Creek twill pants for $6.99 and other clothing on the main floor. They also have kitchen and bath wares - towels, pots/pans, drapes, bedding, furniture and toys. It's a lot of catalog overruns and there are returned items on the second floor, but often there are nice, new things, cheap.

I asked on the CT Tourism board and got the same reply -- the outlet is closed. The distribution center is still located there but there is no store.

There is one in Sawgrass Mills for anyone in the Ft. Lauderdale area. I used to go to the one in CT and there was also one in Billerica, Ma. What a great store!
