JAWS turns 50 June 20, 2025!

Following on from this thread I rewatched Jaws and then decided to give the sequels a go, as I wasn't convinced I'd seen them all and well, they're all pretty terrible aren't they?

Jaws 2 certainly seemed the better sequel in comparison to the others and I did love the way the shark gets killed, but the rest is pretty dire. How all those kids survive is beyond me, and the Brody kids certainly didnt deserve to survive another film considering how stupid they were.

And I was a little amused to see Jaws 3D set at Seaworld. How times have changed! Also amused by the entirely inappropriate response trying to get Sean Brody over his fear of the ocean.

Is it just me or is there little connection between 3D and The Revenge? Appreciate its different actors playing the brothers but it almost felt like the events of the third film didnt exist.

Watching Jaws again right now and wondering where I can find a Mayor Vaughn anchor blazer for DH for Halloween, all his blazers are amazing but this one is my favorite.

Also, we got the Jaws and Brody figures from Funko and are now patiently waiting for the new Quint and Hooper

Just finished up Jaws 2 and most of Jaws 3. The perfect 4th of July fare.

Sooo, apparently there was a real LIVE shark "reenactment" here to celebrate the 50th anniversary ON the July 4th weekend. A real shark was spotted twice by drone near a beach along the Long Island coastline yesterday, as in the movie. The beach had to be closed twice. They have a smarter mayor than in the movie.

How did Spielberg get a real shark to it? Unless, of course, the drone footage wasn't real.

... insight into historical..."where would cinema be without success of jaws"... though not doing a thing about folks putting themselves out there for bites
