Hello! I am planning our January trip to Orlando for the Disney Marathon (DH running the full). We (me, DH and 3 daughters ages 20-25) will be leaving Wednesday, Jan 5th and returning Tuesday, Jan 11th. We are staying at a nearby 3-bdrm condo. Here is my schedule – let me know if you think I’m planning well.

-Wedn – Flight to Orlando (arrive 11:30am), pick up rental car, check in at condo, and receive groceries from Garden Grocer. Head to MK for afternoon/evening til closing.
-Thurs – Epcot, with short trip mid-afternoon to race expo to pick up goodie bag.
-Fri – One daughter running 5K in the morning. Then off to HS until 4pm-ish. We have a dinner to attend with marathon Team in Training around 6pm.
-Sat – Universal Studios IoA (full day)
-Sun – DH marathon in morning. Animal Kingdom late morning to close.
-Mon – Universal Studios (full day). Nice dinner out.
-Tues – HS open to 1pm. Then airport for flight home.

I don’t think anyone in our family wants to see everything each day. We plan on experiencing the best rides and shows first, and if time allows and we’re up to it, we’ll do more.

My thinking in my planning is that MK caters mostly to the little ones – we don’t have any. One short day should do it.

In regards to HS, I’m hoping two shorter days will be enough (there are so many great rides/shows here!).

Our youngest is a HUGE Harry Potter fan, so a good portion of one morning at IoA will be spent there. We’ll be leaving early on the first night at UA so that DH can get a good night sleep before his 3am alarm for the race on Sunday a.m.

Any comments and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My brother and I are both doing the 5k. We are not planning on a lot of park time this trip. We are planning on a little bit of Epcot and dinner at Biergarten on Thursday after we pick have Breakfast at Boma and pick up our race materials. After the race, we will head back to FW cabin to relax and head out to MK for dinner at Crystal Palace.

We love MK and enjoy just being there sucking up the Disney Magiclike the MSEP and Wishes Fireworks!. HS is a half-day park for us, except we HAVE to do Fantasmic at least one night! Epcot is a multi-day park for us. AK is a whole day and my Mama likes to go for more than 1 day.

I hope y'all have a great time!

Hi PureTcrazy!

It looks like you've been to the world many times. I'm sure you know all the ins and outs.

My husband's daughters have both been to WDW a couple of times in the past few years. My daughter has never been. You could say I've never been, as it's been about 27 years since I was there last. Only MK and Epcot at that time.

I think we'll stay away from most of the little tykes rides at each park, and concentrate on the best of the best rides and shows. If time allows, we'll fit in whatever we can.

On our Epcot day we'll leave for a couple of hours to head over to ESPN to pick up DH's race packet and peruse the booths. This will be his 28th marathon!!! All of us girls will be his cheering section. We plan on going to AK the day of the marathon. DH won't want to walk too too much, so he picked this park. I think we'll be skipping Pangani Forest Exploration Trail.

Great to hear from you! Have a great run!! Oh yeah! I forgot that our middle daughter is going to run the 5K. So we'll be there cheering you all on!!
