January no buy

Calling it a day here since it is now snowing and I am not leaving my house again. I went for a cut and color plus eyebrow waxing and it cost me nothing out of pocket. My mom had gotten me a gift certificate for the cut and color for Christmas and the eyebrows only cost $5. However, a lady there owed me a refund for the horrible cheerleading pictures she took this summer and she gave me my $ back. So even after leaving a nice tip (the hairdresser came in on her day off just to do my hair), I still had an extra $5 in my pocket and it's still there :) So today worked out as a no spend day too!

1/1/12-$0-1/10 completed
1/2/12-$0-2/10 completed

1/2 today has been a good day went to the mall and didn't buy anything my mom bought us lunch, and we are going out to dinner and we have gift cards to cover it all:yay:. The only thing i did spend was a 1.00 on a paper and i'm not giving that up.

We had some snow today and are expecting more tomorrow, so I went out during a break in the snow to CVS, Walgreens, and Marc's. At CVS I saved $32.79 and have $3 in Extra bucks left to use. At Walgreen's I saved $11.64 and have $4 left in register rewards.

12/30- $ 59.09 Aldi's, $17.98 GFS, $18.23 Giant Eagle, $10 GE Pharmacy, $19.87 Loco Leprechaun (dinner), and $10.71 BP (Gas)

Ok... I am jumping in. I need a low budget January since we just got back from the world...

Goals:
225 gas
440 groceries
10 no buy days

1/1 - no buy :thumbsup2
1/2 - $55 groceries - this is a good start , normally spend about $100 - $115 weekly. lots in the pantry to eat up

no buy 1/10

1/2: Chili's $35 (kids ate free and we skipped dessert), TRU $67 (kids $), game stop $32 (kids $), Target $67 (groceries only, no extras!)

The boys wanted to spend some of their Christmas $, and we treated them to a late lunch out since they go back to school tmrw.

I didn't even set foot in the Christmas clearance area...but I did pass though the dollar spot...and left with nothing!

I did see some pretties while passing the new housewares type stuff...but I didn't stop to look...

Cheap lunch out and a good target stop! :woohoo:

1/1: $24 fast food
1/2: $102 groceries & dining out

Feeling like I'm failing, but I have no other purchases coming up that I know of.

Jan 1. $50 Amazon.com Pet watering fountain & filters.
Jan 2. $49 Turbo Tax software to file income taxes
$7 Stampin' Up card making class I attend every other week.

12/26 - $11 at Chick-fil-a, on a gift card.
12/27 - $15 at Chick-fil-a - Needed to get the kids out of the house. $60 at Target. $30 on groceries and $30 on household
12/28 - $0
12/29 - $30 - at the grocery store. I think this should be enough to last until we leave for Vegas!
12/30 - $0 - only because the battery in my car died, and I don't see the point of getting it fixed right now. I figure something has to happen for me to stay home and stop spending money, lol
12/31 - $0!
1/1 - BF spent $50 at walmart on a few things of groceries (seriously?!) and the few odds and ends for our trip. I went to dinner with our friend who is going back to the Navy tomorrow ($23) and to Kohl's for a winter jacket for my dd ($55, we ended up getting a jacket, a pretty dress for her birthday tomorrow and a sweater)
1/2 - My daughter's birthday was today, and all of our plans bomb! lol. We were going to take her to the mall for Build a Bear and to get her ears pierced, but my bf's mom wanted to come with and couldn't come tonight. So, my daughter asked to go to Ikea for dinner and to play in the play place, and it was full with a full wait list. Oh did she cry! So, we ended up going to Chick-fil-a for $20. Poor thing. We're hitting up both the mall and Ikea on Saturday when we get back
1/3 - VEGAS!
1/4 - VEGAS!
1/5 - VEGAS!
1/6 - VEGAS!
1/7 - Birthday Extravaganza! :cool1:

And pretty much I won't have any money to spend for the rest of the month, lol:rotfl:

My goals:
1. I'd like to get 5 no spend days - 3/5
2. Grocery spending under $300 for the month - $85/$300
3. Clothes spending at $100
4. Discretionary at $100 - My boyfriend thinks we need to go out way more than I think. This could be our battle. 43/100
5. Household - $120 - $110/120 - obviously under budgeted that category, but I usually have a separate one for clothes, but didn't think we would need anything this month.

stayed home today, as it was way too cold to go out! Same story tomorrow.

1/1 $0
1/2 $0

I have decided to not pick a goal for # of no buy days, but rather challenge myself to see how many I can get. It's working so far. The other half of that self challenge will be to see how low I can keep the spending days. :thumbsup2

1/1-Home Depot $108  had to finish the basement
1/2-Lowe's $30
1/3-$0 Not leaving the house
1/4-$0 Not leaving the house
1/5-$0 Not leaving the house
1/6-$0 Not leaving the house

Not leaving the house again until Saturday-we are broke

01/01 $0 stayed home!
01/02 $86.07 groceries (kept it under my goal of $100)

day by day.....:)

Jan 1 - $12.54 @ grocery store (2 pairs of dish gloves, bread, hamburger buns, hot dog buns)
$10.10 at grocery store (I can already see my downfall) buying items to make dinner tomorrow. I said I would go today instead of tomorrow so that tomorrow could be a no-buy day, but I honestly don't see how I saved money unless you count that I stuck to my list and didn't buy any extras.

Jan 2 - $0.00

Jan 3 - Need to take ** $225 ** out of the bank. $100 for groceries for the next week for us, and $125 for my parents. I had promised them that when the time was right that I would pay for a night for them to go to the beach and stay at a NICE hotel. They finally made reservations yesterday for a 2 night stay, and my half to pay is $125. Well worth it, as my parents need to get away together to reconnect, and they are staying in a super nice beachfront hotel/casino. Definitely not a no-buy day!
***** Spent $52.95 on groceries / $47.05 remaining until Jan 10th *****

I think I need to be more aware of my spending, so here I am :) I don't have many goals except to stay OUT of Walmart and Target! :rotfl:

Mind if I join? I pop onto these threads every once in awhile but never really stick to writing it out. I think having the accountability will help me put away more for vacation:)

This month is my birthday. Not sure what that will run. We have a gift certificate for my favourite restaurant so maybe we'll just pay for babysitting:confused3
I am going to aim for a minimum of 14 no buy days. I work from home so it's easy to stay out of the stores/fast food places.

155.00 for a utility bill.
