3 $0
4 groceries, ordered stamps online

No buy days 2/15

January 1 - the entire family and DD17 boyfriend went to see "Frozen" - $54 ($9 each for a matinee!!). We don't buy snacks at the theater but eat before we go.

On the way home a guy in a pickup truck ran a stop sign at a high rate of speed and totaled his vehicle and ours. This is the first accident we have had in the 17 years(!) we have owned our Ford Windstar. Fortunately the airbags and seatbelts worked brilliantly and we are not injured, although stiff and sore. We will get little or nothing for it from the insurance company and our car insurance does not cover car rental ($600 for a month). Not starting out this New Year in a good position financially. I would love to hear suggestions/recommendations for new vehicles under $25K. I do have consumer reports on-line and their recs include the VW Golf, Honda Accord and various Hyundai.

I am glad you and your family are ok!

I'm in .. and we need it. I'm going back to work because we'd really like to get married sooner rather than later ... and I have squeezed all the juice out of this turnip, the only way to make it happen the way we want is to bring more money in.

I won't be tracking my boyfriend's spending because we each get $20/week as blow money, and I don't want to know what he's spending it on. I'm hoping most, if not all, of my blow money will go into savings.

My dd and I budget $20 every two weeks for blow money specifically for her. We use this for all the fun stuff she's invited too, and we might be able to boost it to $20/week. We also use this money for our Disney trips, and since we're local, we try to go once a month.

1/4: $0

Grocery money: /$400
Fun Money: /$40
No Buys: 1/15

1/1 - $10
1/2 - $215 (this included going to the grocery store and the vet)
1/3 - $0
1/4 - $0

I'd like to get atleast till Tuesday (will probably need gas then), otherwise I don't plan on any grocery shopping until Friday or Saturday! I know there will be a cost on Saturday at the vet.

So far everyone seems to be doing great :thumbsup2

Just an FYI for anyone who wonders why the heck I include all the day to day gas etc.. I am weak! I already wanted to go get more groceries yesterday (Jan 4) so if I did not do it this way I would be out shopping everyday. Thank you for providing me some accountablility and a place to record.

January 2014
1 - $65.00 diesel for tank
2 - $733.72 Oil tank fill, $58.75 gas for DH car
3 - $524.55 - $387.17 groceries, $86.59 gas for minivan, $50.79 kids games (37.27 of DD allowance & 13.52 for family)
4 - $0 :cool1:

1/1 - $0.

1/2 -$11.27 - ordered a new wall calendar online.

1/3 -$0

1/4- $13.55 Chocolate. $25.59 Grocery Store.
I predicted $0 but I had to go to the Pharmacy to pick up a few prescriptions. It was a very bad idea to send me past the clearance Christmas chocolate.:rolleyes1. Then I needed milk and popsicles for dd (who has strep) from the grocery store. I ended up with a few other sale items.

I am in! My goal is 20 no buy days. My DD wants to go WDW in December for her birthday. So in order for us to go we need to save around $250 per month. If we stick to our budget we should be able to accomplish.

I am planning on eating out once a week with my best friend, grocery shopping once a week and buying gas once a week (between DH and I). Other then that I do not plan to spend any money (outside of bills) in Jan.

1/1 - $0
1/2 - $8.00 (lunch out with best friend)

1/3 - $0
1/4 - $156/$600 budget for groceries and $66/$400 budget for gas
1/5 - $0 - don't plan to leave house today

Ok I have a question? Do you guys just count your own personal buys/no buys or do you count if your DH/DW make a purchase as well. Thanks I am just trying to figure out what I should be doing.

I don't usually track DH's spending because he really doesn't spend anything. He's a field tech and drives a company vehicle (they provide his gas). He brings his coffee, snacks, and lunch with him every day.

Failing miserably at the no buy thing this month. DH is just not getting the concept! I can't wait until he goes back to work tomorrow.
I need to tally the expenditures. Yesterday was an expensive day because DS13 needed all new clothes (jeans, school uniforms) and today I need to go get him new school shoes and sneakers.

January:
1$0
2$0
3$4.50 (post office), $8.25 (Walmart)
4$0
5$10 gas

I only got $10 in gas today because I needed it to take DS to a friend's house, but the one I passed has the most expensive gas in town so I didn't want to fill up, I'll do that tomorrow.

I'm a no-buy veteran from the old days. I will shoot for 15 no-buy days, but will be happy with 12. We want to save for possibly two trips to Disney World this year because we just activated our premium annual passes, so hopefully this will help us get there.

1/1 spend
1/2 spend
1/3 No-buy #1
1/4 spend
1/5 No-buy #2

Ran to Cvs early for cold meds and essentials to get through the cold weather. Saved a bunch using coupons and extracare bucks.

1/1 $0 I went to work and came home
1/2 $0 Stayed home sick from work
1/3 $53.00 Giant Eagle & $4.09 McDonald's
1/4 $0
1/5 $20.41 CVS

I see some of my old no buy friends here. Good luck to everyone ! No Buy really helped me out when I was going through a rough time. I no longer feel the need to do No Buy, but I did start up my Christmas Club again and plan to amp up my 401k this year.

For those of you just starting out, I did it for a year and got into some good buying habits that still stay with me today. Happy New Year!
