January Exercise Challenge!

Updated through post #361!

I wanted to make sure I got this updated today before the weekend started. Look at all those wonderful colors on the front page! :thumbsup2 We even have a 90% red and a few turquoise!

**A little housekeeping note
I wanted to let everyone know that there have been a few times that your monthly totals and my totals have not been in line (probably 5 or 6 different people). I track each of your individual days exercise posts and add them up in an excel spreadsheet and compare them to your monthly totals. When they differ, I've been going with the higher of the two monthly totals. I hope that's ok with you all. If you figure out where we got off and want something corrected, please just let me know either on here or in a PM.

***Way to Go January Exercisers!

We have completed 26,930 minutes so far this month! That nearly 450 hours! And it's only day 18! When I update the post on monday we will be approximately 65% of the way through the month. How close are you to being 65% of the way to your goal???

****TGIF: Weekend fuel for thought
Do you find it easier or harder to fit exercise in on the weekend? I find it easier to workout on the weekdays actually, but I somehow manage to find time to run at least 1 day on the weekends.

How often do you get to try a new activity? Consider challenging yourself to do something new this weekend! This is one of my 2013 resolutions - to get outside my comfort zone. If I had never pushed myself to sign up for a half marathon last year, I would never have discovered this whole new running hobby! As for me, DH & I are going to sit down with a calendar and pick a weekend to take DS for a skiing lesson (and us too!) And I'm hoping to try out my new cold-weather running gear that Santa brought me as long as the roads stay non-icy. It will be my first sub-50 degree weather run ever..... brrrrr!

I hope you LOVE skiing! It's so much fun. A good mix of social and physical. Have you been before at all or is this the first first time?

As for new activities, we are about to move up to New England for a few months (internship) so we are looking forward to skiing ourselves, but also trying snowshoeing and cross country skiing. We're also looking to enter this race, but I am a little nervous about it...http://www.winterwild.com/index.php?doc=17_5
The real draw is the fact that you get discounted ski passes the rest of the day. The problem is that my legs might not work anymore

3 mile run today, beautiful weather after a week of miserable COLD rain (but snow yesterday!)

Today: 2 hour walk, 45 minute bike ride
165 minutes

Brings me to:
2043/3000

Forgot to post last night....an hour WERQ class brings me to:

1650/2000 :flower3:

I have a terrible :headache: tonight after teaching all day today so that's all I've got to post for now. I did rollerblade with the kids at school today and had a blast but am not counting those minutes. I was so proud of myself for not running any 1st graders over :rotfl: All of the kiddos wanted to hold my hand and go around with me....do you know how challenging it is to have unsteady children on both sides of you while you try to balance yourself and keep moving forward?!? Highlight of my day for sure!!

It is really hard to NOT do alot of walking when you are in the parks. Tomorrow I really do have to lay low so I have fresh legs for the race on Sunday.

725/1200

60 minutes of core and yoga for a total of 770/800! Almost there!!!

As for your questions, for me right now weekends and weekdays are the same as I'm on maternity leave for a year. But when I'm back at work full time weekends will be much easier as DH can watch the kids, whereas on weekdays he works evenings so I have to do everything for the kids and can only get my workout in once they're all in bed (and pray they don't wake up in the middle of my workout!)

As for trying new activities, admittedly I'm not very good at it. I hate the cold winter and am not into any winter activities (skiing, snowshoeing, skating...). In the summer DH and I would love to try new things like tennis but with 3 babes its hard to find the time. I'm thinking in about 10 years we'll have the time :p
