January Codes

We are wanting to stay on site, but are waiting to make reservations until we see if there will be any discounts. Are there normally codes or specials for Jan? If so when do they normally become available? We've been quoted $87 a night at the new Pop Century All Star, should I go ahead and take it or wait?

I made my January reservations months ago. I make my ressies, and then just have the discounts applied when available. I made ours early, as we were wanting rooms during the marathon, which can book up fast.
I go through DU. When any disnounts are allowed for us, Dagny has been very effective in getting discounts applied. (Generally AP rates)
I don't think the AP rates come out until October/November. ??

January is typically a slow time so you should be okay to wait but if you are worried about getting availability then go ahead and reserve your room now and keep an eye out for the codes. As long as there is availability they will switch your rate over to the code rate. We do this all the time and have never had a problem. Good luck!

2004 WALT DISNEY WORLD MARATHON WEEKEND
Any marathon will challenge your strength and test your endurance. Only one will encourage you to run away with your imagination. Join us on January 9-11, 2004.
(A marathon is running/walking course 26.2 miles long. Disney also offers a half marathon.)

The marathon this year is on Sunday January 11. Thousands of people participate in the marathon and half marathon that wind around WDW property. The marathon starts very early in the morning (around 6, I think!). We have gone a couple times during this weekend and have never been bothered by crowds. Disney is very efficient and organized in this event. You can find out more on the WDW website, under the wide world of sports area. We usually do get codes for this time of the year. I think last year we booked in November and got a moderate (POFQ) for $89 a night plus tax (if I recall!) Dawn

... discounts have become available in mid to late October. If you feel like you need to get your ressie now, go ahead. Then if discounts become available, make new ressies and cancel the old. If you are going to arrive after January 4, I would worry too much at this time.
