Would I be correct in thinking that waiting on the GTY means that they're still hoping to sell out that category and then bump you up?

I know I am obsessing. I check 5 - 10 times a day, even on my cell phone.

I wonder about the GTY. I booked an 11C and my sister is in a 9C and both of us are still unassigned! UGH!!!

I read today that someone booked for the NYE cruise just got their GTY today, so hopefully you'll all know something within the week.

I think it can only be good news. At worst, you'll have the category booked. At best, you'll be upgraded. So it can't be bad, either way!

Yeah, I'm an 11C GTY this time around too. I was thinking about upgrading myself, but I wanted to wait and see what my assignment would be (in case they upgraded for me). However, at this rate, all the higher category cabins are practically gone....I checked yesterday and the only open cabin was a suite

LOL! They don't juggle the rooms until about a month out most of the time. Usually they move those who booked earliest up a couple cats to make room for the GTY rooms in the cat you booked later on...unless you have 4 in a cat 12 GTY. You automatically get bumped up with that. We have been upgraded twice...1st cruise from a cat 11 to a cat 8 and 3rd cruise from a cat 8 to a cat 4. Our room was changed on Thanksgiving day for a 12/10 cruise so it was very close to our sail date. I was checking every day to see if we had been moved to early dining and was surprised to see our room had changed.

When I booked this a few months ago with the kids free offer the CM said that most of the outside rooms were sold but lots of inside rooms were open.

The old Cat. 12's now 11c's (that doesn't make them sound better!) are usually sold 3 or 4 times over. That is why they are always GTY's. We got a great deal so even if we are stuck in 11C we will know we only paid a tiny amount for 7 nights on the Disney Magic.

This is my 6th Disney Cruise and I have NEVER been upgraded!!!! I am really hoping for at least a deluxe inside room!!! (((FINGERS CROSSED))) I will let you all know for sure. Now that the ship is full....no rooms were left this morning when I checked...hopefully they will get everyone assigned soon! Until then I will be hourly! LOL

This is our 4th and we've never had an upgrade; don't figure we ever will, as we're DVC members. So, we're not lucky in that respect; however, I did win the raffle at the DVC info meeting last cruise ($300) which very nicely settled the rest of our onboard account. I'll take that over a window any day!

Could be all the "advertisement" Disney Cruise Line is getting because of the Dream. Seems like that ship was in the news a lot in the last few weeks. Maybe it got people interested in going on a cruise with Disney.

Just new here and going to go on the Jan 8 cruise, first DCL for us. Just wanted to say what a great forum with great information and ppl. Been lurking about a month.

I myself was booked in for CAT11B, and I think the ship is quite full because DCL is have a 25% sale for all Canadian. I too am checking 2 or 3 times a day to see when they are going to assign the room.

They offered 25% off? I really wish Disney would've made that an option for me. I DO have a child, but the offer didn't apply to me because I'm the only adult sailing. I was considering changing to a room with a verandah, but there wasn't as much incentive for me to do so, since I didn't qualify for the promotion.

I knew I'd have to shell out more money, but it probably would've been worth it to have a higher category room. Oh well....I'm sure I'm still going to have a great time, even in my dark, windowless room!

When I booked the 5A it cost less with the kids free than a cat 10 was listed for without the kids free offer for the 4 of us. It was also less than our max we will book a 7 day for at opening day rates. That's why I booked it when I saw it and didn't tell DH until just before the no more refund point. I knew that rate wasn't going to last!

DisneyGyrl, maybe you will get upgraded because if there is a cancellation DCL will make more money off a family of 4 booking your room cat.
