January 8, 2011 - 7 Night Western Caribbean Sailing

I'm beginning to wonder that we're going to be sailing on a very empty ship!

It still seems so far away but I'm feeling better about that since we booked another cruise for the end of the year -- the very end, as we'll be on the Dream for New Year's Eve. Looking at the dates on that ticker makes the wait time for the January cruise seem miniscule.

I'm trying to get some friends who usually cruise on NCL to join us this time. They've been thinking about doing a Disney parks vacation around the same time. How can I convince them that not only is a DCL vacation a better idea, but that they'll save money, too?

Thanks!

I was thinking that too....We have so few people signed up. We are tossing around a Cruise for Sept 2011 on the Dream. It looks amazing!

I think there will be lots of empty spaces on our cruise! :)
When I called to re-book this vacation, the phone sales agent tried to convince me to wait another week and cruise on the new ship... I would have considered it, but they don't have any week long cruises. Maybe most people will opt for new ship, which takes her maiden voyage a week after ours! Here's hoping we all get fabulous free upgrades! :cool1:

AWESOME! Free Upgrades and chairs by the pool! No long lines to meet Mickey either! Hey we can all dream. I am excited. I have been on TONS of 3 and 4 night cruises, but this is my first week long cruise. I plan on lots of relaxation!!

I admit we've been lurking! Count us in for the FE, DW has already made ours and I beleive that she has most of our gear packed! lol, we are very excited to go on our second Disney Cruise!

there are so few of us but o well..is someone in charge of the FE thing?..please don't nominate me I am not sure even what it is still....and I cannot sew..I don't do ebay ..but what the heck we will giive it a whirl...can we just hang a grocery bag out??..no??? hmmm ok well I will try to get more creative..

who is going to set up the facebook page...I could ask the IT guys at work to help me.....they will laugh but....

I am going to keep track of the Fish Extender. So let me know if you are in, your cabin number and who you are traveling with! It is going to be an AMAZING cruise!!!

O yes ..duh ..that was posted earlier...well as soon as I am for sure which we are99% right now I will let you know...I think we are GTY tho and planning on upgrading at the port..pretty amazing deals last year ..although we got upgraded for free due to numerous room issues.....

Hey! My group and I would love to be part of the Fish Extenders! There will be 3 adults in our group: Tania (me), and my parents John and Jackie :)
My mom has done a wonderful job making the FE for our family! :fish:

:cool1: Our cabin number is #7068

YAY more FE participants!

What kind of room issues did you have last year. I wanna make sure I avoid them. LOL

We need to make some kind of code or something in case people get new rooms. We switched rooms last year and only got about 1/2 of our gifts due to no one knowing where we are.

If you get a new room maybe we can put a note with our FE gifts letting everyone know. I don't know why I didn't think of that last year. LOL

Oh and I already know what my FE gift is going to be and I am super excited! I hope you all like it as much as I do!

Last time, we organized a meet in the Promenade Lounge at about 3pm on sailaway day. It worked out beautifully well, AND we were able to correct all the cabin numbers that had changed between now and then.

So, I think we'll plan on doing the same thing for this cruise. It was so great to meet everyone, although maybe having name tags might work out well as we use our DIS names on here -- so it was sometimes hard to connect who was who at first.

That was great meeting as soon as we boarded like that.....we will miss Joanna this year..I think she even had a clipboard and got everyone organized. ..Laura you have some clipboards somewhere don't you?????

Our last cruise our meet time coordinated with our Safety drill, it seemed to slowly happen but not to the capacity that we'd expected. We met 5 other families of the 20 in on the FE. It was still neat meeting everyone but once we met we all spread out waiting for the actual meet time and then they asked o\us to return to our cabins to prepare for the drill.

So after writing all that, what time is the drill at?

Yes, I have a clipboard! I'll start to organize a list. I'll even set up a Facebook page for our trip. Will post details when that's done. This way, we can talk without lurkers learning all the "good stuff" -- ha ha, it will make people show their faces!

I think the safety drill is at 4:30. I remember having plenty of time for the 3pm meet until we needed to go back for the "fancy dress parade" lol.

This was supposed to be the first Magic cruise of the year, wasn't it? Now I see they've added a 5 day to the Bahamas from January 3. Anyone know anything about that? Did something happen to the Holiday cruise that was supposed to be 10 days?

They changed the 10 day holiday to 2- 5 day cruises. Apparently it wasn't going to make them enough money. I'm glad we changed our plans because that was the cruise we originally wanted.

A facebook page wont work for some (I say some because I know I avoid Facebook like a plague). So I guess I'll miss all the "Good Stuff". I havent updated or even logged in nearly 3 years.

Thanks Laura for taking charge.....let me know how I can help....I am still alittle new to FB but since we are having classes at work etc..I should be an expert soon..unless I am just simply too old to master it?...nahhh...

Tracy, I'm so glad you're taking classes to master the computer. You will do great, I'm not worried about you at all!

Well, we'll do whatever works for the majority as regards Facebook, etc. Just trying to find an easy way to talk -- DISboards isn't as easily accessible for me as I have trouble logging on from home.

I would like to invite all the lurkers to come forward! On the last cruise, we met some very nice people who'd been lurking and I felt so bad that no one knew who they were (despite the fact that lurking, to me, seems like peeping in someone's windows when they don't know, lol!).
