January 8, 2006- 4 night Wonder- Anybody else coming with?

I totally know what you mean. :teeth:

I just got the Disney Visa solely for the $50 Disney Dollar sign-up deal. I had already booked and paid my deposit, so I figured I wouldn't be able to book my cruise on the Visa for an additional $50 OBC. Some wonderful Dis cruisers had a post about working around this. All I had to do was transfer my cruise to the Disney Visa, they would credit back to me whatever I'd already paid, and I would receive the extra $50 OBC. Really just shuffling stuff around, easy as pie, and very nice extra spending money.

As a result of doing this, they sent me a new confirmation letter.

So...you see how sad this is? I was just getting the same letter I'd already received once...and I was still excited.

"Ohhh! :Pinkbounc Disney mail!!!"

Did anyone check out those discounted cabins Dreams Unlimited were offering for our cruise? Very tempting...veeeery tempting. I had to remind myself that any money I spent upgrading came out of my overall "extra fun" budget...and that every cabin has the same bed, so we shouldn't go crazy about upgrades. That for the same price for a window I could get a couple of spa services, 2 really cool excursions and lots of fruity drinks.

But it was still a struggle ;)

DH and I already decided that if they upgrade us for free to a window, we'll ask at the port how much extra a balcony is...but we'll try to restrain ourselves :rotfl:

:cheer2: I got the "My Cruise Travel Kit" in the mail today...How exciting. It lists all the important dates for me...like when the final payment is due and when I can start booking my ressies...YEA!! :cheer2:

Cruise Travel Kit :confused3

I want one of those too :earboy2:

Was it just the confirmation notice again or was the other stuff included with it?

No actually, this time it came with a little letter saying "Welcome Aboard Agaain", and then at the bottom it has 3 dates listed: Our sail date, the date that final pymt is due, and the date that we can start making all our ressies.
It also had this little booklet inside that is to help plan. It lists the shore excursions for Nassau and CC, and has a bunch of other info inside.
Just thought it was cool to have gotten something new!

Just wondering...is anyone else thinking of rebooking while onboard?? I am jonesing to do a 7-night, so I hope that we are able to rebook!!

That sounds like an interesting mailing.

I have never gotten anything like that when I've gone on a Disney Cruise.

All of my past cruises have been booked through a travel agent. This one I did myself on-line, so maybe that makes a difference.

I hope they will send out one of those mailing to us too. I just love to get Disney Mail.

I got a confirmation letter in the mail for the POP Century too and I think that is a first for that also.

I don't know if we will be booking on board. We have never done that before.

Do you research the prices of the cruise BEFORE you get onboard so that you know if the price is a good one?

I didn't get one of the mailings for our last cruise either, and I booked directly with DCL then too!

Yes, it is always exiting to get Disney mail!!

If we dook rebook while onboard it will be a first for us. I know a lot of people who do rebook usually end up transferring the ressie to a TA so that they can save more money. The main reason that I would want to book onboard is so that we could take advantage of any special offers that they might have. Last time they were offering a $200 stateroom credit for a 7-night.

Hey I just got one of those packages today too! I haven't read it yet, but it was so great to see when I opened the mailbox!

I didn't even know they sent that out, is this a new thing you think?

Oh my, only Cat 4 & 5 are remaining on DCL site! :earseek:

I think we're looking at a pretty full boat!

darn, I was hoping for an upgrade from Cat 12 but really it doesn't matter.

I've been all over the ship in different categories, the only thing that really is important to me is that I am ON the ship :teeth:

Don't count yourself out yet for that upgrade...you never know what kind of "wonder"ful things that could happen!!

So if I've got this right this is the list of folks who are cruising with us:
cruisin and Darlin Parents
branv
VickiHD
txSleepingBeauty
Monstro
DisneyLoversx4
And of course myself and the DH!

Jusrt doesn't seem like very many people for the ship to be so sold out already. Either people are hiding from us, or all the rest of the people on the ship aren't Dis'ers.

Another thought I had was this--maybe a lot of travel agencies are atill holding onto rooms, so they actually show booked on DCL, but not through the TA. Was just wondering if maybe the reason that DU was having such a great sale was because they weren't selling that fast...just a thought...

I think that it could be true about the rooms being held by the travel agents and showing booked by Disney Cruise Lines.

Maybe there are other DISers out there going but they haven't bothered to look for a thread yet.

Has anybody checked to make sure there are not two threads for the same cruise?

I did a search and this was the only thread that I could find related to our cruise. Hopefully there will be more who will join in with us closer to the date!

Are y'all excited or what??? Getting my Disney mail the other day just made it seem that much more real. I never thought that I would ever get to cruise for the first time, much less the 2nd!

This cruise/trip just happened so quickly. There was really no advanced yearning/planning about how someday we'd like to take a Disney cruise. I just happened to look one day at cruises, and found a good price for DCL. We can sail out of Galveston and it would only take 4 hours to drive there, but DCL quality seems to just be miles above the ships that sail out of Texas.

So I've sort of been in a crescendo state...the more and more I read and learn about DCL, the more excited I get. Really, I'm just excited to be going somewhere! Between both of us in school and DH working overtime, we're lucky if we spend a quality hour a day together when school is in session. Christmas vacation is our time together, and a cruise will be just what we need to really take advantage of that time. That's why I've said I'm excited just at the prospect of laying in the sun...whatever happens, it's sure gonna be better then work, school and housework! ;) And I'm sure those of you in cooler climates are going to SERIOUSLY be psyched about laying in the sun.

Though I had the weirdest dream last night that I was in the Atlantis casino searching and searching for a video poker machine :rotfl: What the HECK? I could dream about a cruise and I'm dreaming about gambling instead. LOL, what would Freud make of that?

So I saw that Disney is releasing "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" in December. Anyone want to lay odds that they'll be showing it on our cruise? I watched the preview on apple.com and it looks wonderful!

I've even posted on another large cruise site to see if anyone else is going with us and it's been quiet.

I've missed the website, DH and I have been "melting" in Arizona heat 116 :sunny: degrees for the past few days. Glad to be back.

:wave2: A few more days have passed :earboy2:

Getting closer every day :cheer2:

I don't get over to DIS very often, but I thought I'd check here since I recently booked this cruise also. It'll be me & SB (sexy boyfriend) - both of us in our mid-late 40's, traveling without any kids! It'll be his first cruise ever, while I've done 8 Disney cruises and 9 on other lines (favorite being Holland America Line). We're in a category 5 on deck 7....figured for his first cruise, we needed to do it right!

We'll be spending 3 nights in a 1br at Old Key West before the cruise, and I'm doing the half marathon on that Saturday. I should be easy to spot on the ship - I'll be the one limping, lol!

Not sure if we'll bother with the shows - I'll leave that up to him, as I've seen them all except for the new one. We'll definitely book Palo - wish I could be sure of our dining rotation, but most likely we'll be TAPP. I might book the brunch, too - I know he'd love the crab legs & other stuff.

Nassau day for me has always been a "stay on the ship" day...went ashore once and that was enough to last me a lifetime. Besides, the ship is so nice when everyone else is gone!

Welcome Sue and her S.B. !!!!! Yeah.... two more people to add to our cruise list. :cheer2: Good luck with the 1/2 marathon and the training involved.
