January 6, 2013 Dream cruise

Llges, we sailed on the Dream in January of 2012 and it was very nice weather - not hot but in the 80's. On Castaway Cay, I got in the water and it was a little cold for me but there were lots of kids in the water and by afternoon it seemed warmer. Not sure if that was typical weather or not . On the website, when you do online checkin , there's an option to have a Disney character call your home - you give a time and a persons name - you could have the call be for your younger child and then they could be the one to tell the older kids ! We've always used scavenger hunts or trip items in their Christmas stockings - the online Disney store carries cruise items too. Debbie

Andreia, we will arrive the day before the cruise but haven't decided where to stay yet. Since we won't be doing the parks, we may just walk around Downtown Disney and then drive to the port and spend the night somewhere near there so we can sleep in the next morning. Has anyone ever stayed in Port Caneveral and what was your experience. We have a two bedroom at Old Key West booked for our stay after the cruise - I booked that way in advance because that is the Marathon weekend and DVC is hard to get. We will be there to cheer on some friends in the Marathon and do a park day. Debbie

Thank you Debbie!! That is a great idea about the phone call!! Will they do it on Christmas Day? I'll check the disney store too! We aren't sure where to stay either the night before.

LLges - you have been added to the FE list, let me know your cabin if you know it. The water in CC in January is cool, but awesome (of course, I am from Minnesota, so it beats the winter there no matter what).

Less than 90 days away!!!!

Going to Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea and Hong Kong Disneyland in a few weeks - can not wait! :cool1:

So I'm sitting at home and putting together little coloring packets for kids to play with in our waiting room at work....and it feels like I'm putting together FEs!!!!!:artist:

Oooooh....it's getting closer! :hourglass

I suppose I'll go look at pics from my last cruise. And drool.....:boat:

Also thinking of ditching all of my pretty dresses I usually wear to dinner and investing in a toga so I can breathe after I eat all the delicious food...anybody else in?

I'm having more trouble trying not to talk about the cruise around my granddaughters since this is a Christmas surprise. I have "nice" but comfortable clothes for dinners - I love trying new things on cruises and so far have been really impressed with Disney's offerings. This weekend we did our online check-in and booked a 2 bedroom at AKL- Kidani for our arrival night because we couldn't find any good offers at Port Caneveral and would have needed two rooms anyway and we had points we needed to use or bank so DVC seemed a better choice. Plus, we like to visit the animals ! Debbie

When I told my mom what I was planning, she wanted the other grandkids to come too. Of course, we couldn't come without Grammie and Papa and the kids favorite Aunt!! So now our crew of 4 is a crew of 10!! I am the planning bee of this group. They just all plan to show up and have fun. I'm just supposed to tell them when and where!! Yipee!! (We did Disney two years ago, and at least I think planning for this trip will be easier, no dining reservations for 12 to try to plan, whew!!- they did buy me a Mickey charm for my Pandora bracelet while we were there, :thumbsup2 so that was cool!!)

This does mean that I will be the one to plan for all three rooms FE gifts!! That scares me a bit!! (but I can't have my niece and nephew miss out because my brother wouldn't do it:confused3) Let me give you our cabin numbers for the FE list:

8046 - mine- Lori (Mom-me); DD- Lindy-16; DS-Garrett-14; DD-Ella Jane-6
8025 - my brother - Clint (Dad); DD - Riley- 10; DS - 7
8024 - my parents and sister DMom- Robbie, DDad-Tommy; DSister (adult) Rachel

Thank you!!! Now, I've got to get to work planning!!
All the kids will find out Christmas, so I plan to have all FE gifts ready to prepare and let them all help me to pass the time before we leave after they find out!!

Well, this has gotten a little too big for our family so I think we'll have to bow out of the fe. I would be interested in a gift exchange, though.

Here is the latest FE list, please let me know any more changes needed. Thanks!

No wait, I feel bad if you are backing out because I added my family, you were signed up first... I'll be glad to remove us if you want back in.

I know there are at least a few on this cruise that are also going on the DVC Member Cruise immediately following this. I was wondering if there would be any interest in doing a Secret Mickey exchange, or maybe a craft exchange? I have done the FE in the past, but our group was very small (5-6 families). I just don't have the time (or luggage space) to produce large quantities of gifts. But I thought if we could do an exchange where we could bring one or two gifts, and/or a craft exchange, that would be manageable. Since the member cruise is so jam-packed, we could do the exchange while we were waiting to re-board the ship. Any interest?

Just bumping this to see if anyone else might be interested. I've had some people respond on the DVC Member Cruise FB page. If anyone else is interested, please let me know.

Wich activities have you already booked?

I still have to wait until next week - first trip, not yet a Castway club member...

So excited 76 days away!!!!
The trees have started to change colour the air is colder and I saw some random snowflakes the other day!!! So excited to ditch winter weather for the first time ever this year!!! The kids are going to be so excited christmas morning when they find out!! Is anyone sailing with teens mine are ds 14 and dd 13 wondering what club they should go in and if your teen has had fun so worried they are not going to like it. They are at that fun loving age!!! LOL.

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I'm wanting to hear from parents of teens as well. I have Dd 16 and ds 14. Not worried at all about dd 6:) I'm also sure ds will have fun. It's jus his personality, he has fun wherever he is, and vibe looks like its right up his alley. She's a little more reserved, and of course, mature, I'm just hoping she won't be the only 16-17 yo there.

If matysgrandma doesn't want back in the fe, please keep us on the list. I'm very excited about making the gifts with the kids to pass the time between Christmas and the Dream!!!

Anyone did the online checkin?

I have you down on the list :)
We will finalize the FE list December 1st.

Good luck with Hurricane Sandy for whomever is on the East Coast!! See you all just over 2 months!

We are registered and all ready to go - no activities booked for us - just relaxing this time :)

We did the online checkin but haven't booked any activities- the only one we would have liked was the Palo brunch - which was still available - but would only do that if it was a cruise for the 2 of us and not when the whole family is along. We were hoping it might get us our cabin assignment earlier. Debbie

Might as well add us to the FE list!

Cabin 8001, 3 adults
