January 5, 2013 Fantasy Cruise to the Western Caribbean

Hello fellow passengers!

I am new to DIS Boards so I'm not too sure how this works. A friend told me that you get to meet fellow passengers before the cruise and it makes the cruise that more fun. Our first cruise was on the Wonder this past January to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. We enjoyed it so much that we booked another cruise to celebrate my mom's 70th birthday in 2013.

We are looking forward to making new friends...anyone else out there have a 14 year old going? We also have an 9 year old going and he really enjoyed the kids clubs on the Wonder but my teen was a bit nervous about going to the clubs. We are hoping he will make friends prior to the cruise that way he will have friends to hang out with.

Thank you! princess:

Welcome to this cruise. Besides reading up on this cruise thread you can also read trip reports to get an idea of what people thought or experienced on their DCL cruise. Especially look for Fantasy cruise trip reports. You will find a big difference between Wonder and Fantasy. The character photo opportunities are numerous, both for children and adults. Afterall, we adults are kids at heart, and Dis brings that out in us older folks. Any questions you have just post. No question is stupid. I usually lurk but now that we are very close to the cruise I will most likely start posting. I do know there are several young people, teens and younger, on this cruise. I hope their families reply to your inguiry. And happy 70th birthday to grandma. pixiedust:

Hey all... ok so I have been rediculously busy since January. My wife and I actually decided to open TWO stores! First venture into business outside of the house. We have a travel office and my screen printing and embroidery business. On the screen printing side, we have also just purchased a brand new screen press and have been very busy with that.

I know we were planning the shirts, and I am still willing to do them and can get a link up very soon so you may purchase them. Let me know if you are still interested.

On the down side, we may not be able to do this cruise after all. :( Besides the two businesses that I am trying to get off the ground, and I working 3 other jobs. One of them is I took my teaching position back, though only teaching the senior class 5 days a week, but that week is the one before mid-term exams. TOUGH one to bail on. I am trying to work something out with the principal to perhaps give the exam early. Add to this all the trips I have had to take for the travel business and yeah, it's been busy. I am going to Jamaica next week and will have to make a decision when I get back. But as I said, I would love to do the shirts whether or not I am able to wear one myself.

Hi there! I am new to this and I am getting so excited for the trip!! I can't wait and have begun shopping and preparing! YAY!!:yay::yay:

Yahoo! :cool1::cool1::cool1: Set the alarm for midnight to get up and book excursions, etc. Yea! We are all set. Can't wait for January to get here!

Rick,

I hope you enjoyed your time in Jamaica and can still be part of our cruise in January. If you do make the shirts our family would like to purchase four of them. :cool1:
Please post your intentions. :surfweb:

Thanks,

Let's talk excursions- who is doing what, when? What about spa treatments? Palo or Remy?

On our last cruise, first with DCL we just showed up and went with it- but I feel like we missed a lot. :confused3

This time I am approaching it more like I approach a WDW trip. I am scouring the navigators posted on line :coffee: and making out an rough itinerary. It is not real rigid, just a basic outline of things I'd like to try to do and when to do them. Does anyone else do this???

We've done it both ways but I now prefer the "Do It Yourself" approach. :scratchin This trip we will take walking excursions into town on our own or maybe even stay onboard.

We have signed up for one of the Stingray City/Sunken ship snorkeling trips. BUT, if weather isn't cooperating we plan on catching a cab to the Turtle Farm instead. No plans yet for Cozumel or Costa Maya...most likely will stay aboard ship and relax.... :wave2:

Hi cruise friends! Well the countdown to this trip has been a trip in and of itself-11 days until PIF. On Sept 11th I was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer and will being going for a 2nd lumpectomy this week-margins weren't clear. I am 46 yrs old with no risk factors.

Just talked to my SIL, who is going on the cruise too , her mammo on Friday was positive and she will have a biopsy on Monday- she is 38 with no risk factors.

The stress is crazy of course but we don't want to cancel the cruise- everyone say prays for her that all is negative!!!

We want to see you on the ship!!! LADIES GET YOUR MAMMOS!!!!!!!

Linda, just getting caught up on the discussion forum for this cruise. Sorry to hear the news about you and your sister-in-law. Hope all turns out well. In fact, it will be OK until something or someone says different. Only think the best.

While I thoroughly agree with this I must add that the men should also have this checked. One our friends was found to have breast cancer and only when he felt a lump did he go to his doctor. After surgery, chemo and radiation it looks like he has a good chance at full recovery.

Chris thank you so much!

Brackjr-you are so right ,men need to pay attention too.Hope your friend will be OK.

Really don't know what to do now! SIL has breast cancer stage 1 as well! This is really unbelievable-

We don't have trip insurance and boy I really still want to go- we have 80 days, I hope she will still want to go.

My parents are both 70 I don't want to miss this opportunity.

Linda,

I am so sorry this is happening to you and your SIL. Maybe talk within your family - if it is ok with treatment, this may be exactly what you and your family need. My best hope and desires for a successful and speedy remission. :)

Best,
Susan
