January 4, 2014 Fantasy, Trust, and Pixie Dust!

I haven't thought about points... I'll have to talk to Matt and see what he thinks :-) sounds like a nice option.

Btw, our cruise is filling up! Lots of the verandah and ocean view categories are booked up already.

It seems my options for DVC room through renting points are:

Saratoga springs studio
Animal kingdom studio savannah view

AK is 100 more than SS. Anyone know the pros/cons of each? It is still about twice as much as the Hilton, but we might go for it :-)

To me it's all about transportation. I just asked these questions today:

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3132159

http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopi...sort_bus_experience-Disney_World_Florida.html

Based on the responses I'd choose AKL. I have SSR booked but I'm hoping my AKL wait list comes through.

I stayed at SSR about 5 years ago or so with my DILs and I thought it was great! We had received an upgrade from a moderate resort which had messed up our reservation, though I can't remember which one. I liked the location of SSR since it was within walking distance (or a short boat trip) to DTD. But I can't comment on the transportation issue since we had my DIL's car with us.

I have also stayed at AKL which I absolutely loved! Again, with my DILs (who were living in Florida at the time) and with our own transportation. But if the price difference is $100 (if I read that correctly), you may want to opt for SSR and put that money towards the cruise or your post cruise activities. Just a thought.

I am not fond of SSR, and I really love AKL. Went there after my DCL cruise last Sept. My DD works at AKL.

They finally published the rates for Southwest thru the middle of Jan. Now if I could figure out a. where I need to leave from and b. when I am flying down there! Right now, when is easier than where!

I am moving to central IL next month (JULY!!!), but things are up in the air as to just where. My new territory covers a huge chunk of the state so my closest airport could be either Indy or St Louis - but Midway is always less expensive. And if it doesn't work out down there, I will be back up here by the end of the summer. :confused3 Stressed doesn't begin to cover my life this summer!!! Did I mention that we are also moving my 90 yo mom into a retirement village this summer???

Glad you had a great time at WDW, luv2sleep! I get down there abut 3X every year to see my DD.

off to work now,

Karyn

I'd just bite the bullet and stay at the Hyatt for ease and peace of mind. It is literally inside the airport. I saw it on Sunday. Very cool.

As we're flying from the UK, we had to fly on Friday and get a night in a hotel. Virgin Holidays got us in the Hyatt as part of a package including flights, 1 night at Hyatt and 1 extra week at WDW with 7 days WDW tickets ... We passed by the hotel in January this year on our way back home and thought it was super convenient.

Ok everyone i think all this planning is coming together, I'm doing more WDW planning at this point than cruise planning though :-) noting a car and keeping reservations at Hilton is what we are going to end up doing, as much as I would have loved to rent dvc points, it's something I needed to look into a lot earlier. Anyway first pre cruise night is still up in the air but I think Hyatt or embassy suites near the airport will be what we end up doing (nicer hotels than near the port) and use one way dcl transportation to get there stress free :-) now the other planning begins, park days and port excursions :-) a little bit more fun than transportation but I'm glad I got that all worked out, ps it is super d duper hot in norther California today :-( trying to stay cool indoors planning the trip

Oh yea if anyone is new on here welcome! If you want to sign up for the fe group you can ask to join our Facebook group and then there is a sign up list there... If Facebook is not in the picture let me know and we will work it out :-)

Excursion wise this is what we are thinking:

Grand Cayman: Fat Fish Adventures jet ski, stingray city and snorkel (I am a little bit nervous about this but I am going to be a big girl and try it out lol....who knows maybe I will love it.)

Costa Maya: A relaxing day at Maya Chan

Cozumel: just walk around the port check it out, then head back to the quiet ship ride the aquaduck and spend the day in the rainforest spa.

Castaway Cay: explore the island and have a beach day.

What are you guys planning for excursions?

We are doing DCL excursions. Just easier as a single mom of a young child (6). We are only going to do beach, beach, and more beach. On CC we will ride bikes, swim , snorkel, etc.
