January 31, 2010 - Wonder 4 Day! Join the Fun!

Yeh, I know there's absolutely nothing we can do about it, and I KNOW we'll have a great time no matter what the weather is like. But when I have to think about packing appropriate attire (including shoes) for daytime activites, the dining rooms for the various nights, and now possible weather/temperature variations, for four people, it does stress me a little - don't want anybody going too cold and don't want to overpack TOO much, etc.....!!

This is when I wish I was one of those fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants kind of folks, who could just throw some stuff into the suitcase at the last minute and just go with it - and deal with whatever consequences there might be with a smile on my face! Unfortunately I just wasn't built that way!

Regardless, I know it'll be a blast.... just keeping my fingers crossed for that warm weather I'm hoping for that'll make things so much easier!

I hear you. It is tough on the packing. If it is cold, i'm screwed because I too want the nice weather.

I have another question...I saw in a post somewhere that someone was packing for the pirate dinner? Is this something I should do? Do you dress up for the pirate dinner? or just the deck party? or what's the deal? Thanks for any info.! Greatly appreciated!

From what I have read, there will be some folks dressed up, and some who are not - some who dress only for the pirate party, some for the dinner AND party, and some not at all. We bought pirate t's right after Halloween from Walmart, so our family is wearing those (with probably eye patches and bandanas) with jeans - that's the extent of our dressing up. I've seen pics of folks who go ALL OUT, but my understanding is that you won't be out of place if you don't dress up at all. I knew my DS would be disappointed if he saw a bunch of other folks dressed up and he didn't have anything at all. Oh, and we have early seating, but we are still wearing our pirate stuff to dinner and will just keep it on all evening.....

Some dress some don't. I recommend wearing some pirate stuff. It is really fun. Usually Jack Sparrow is around for photo shoots as well as Mickey and the gang are dressed in Pirate outfits. We dress for dinner and the deck party. We just accessorize with pirate stuff. At dinner they will give everybody pirate bandannas. My memory is more from my 7 night cruise. The characters may have been in their pirate outfits during the day on my 3 night cruise which doesn't work as well for photo opts.

Check out some of our pirate pics from our 7 night cruise.

This sounds like fun...we will def. bring some pirate stuff to join in the party. going to surprise my son with it....he will think it's awsome! Thanks!

I think you stole these EXACT sentiments from me, including wishing you could be more fly-by-the-seat-ish!!! And I have 5 people to pack for!!!! I feel your pain :lmao:

morgan- i'm jillian, im 14. i'll be on the cruise too. i'm from ohio. what's your facebook or myspace?

We are packing pirate costumes for all 5 of us! My dh is a good sport about it! LOL! My ds7 is not- I had to promise a trip to the Lego store just to get him to take it!! All I want is one pic!!!

I have started packing - wish weather was more predictable!

I am going to try and get all the shopping done this w/e - I know this week will fly by!

We leave next Fri - we are doing KSC first on Sat.

Can't believe it is already here!

:sail: We have a DS-8 , DD-7 :cheer2:, and a DS-3 :car:. All of us are very excited and have been opening a paper chain for two months (one link a day) with each link stating something we are looking forward to. Only 9 links to go!! Looking for any packing advice beyond pirate costumes. pirate: Is there anything else we should bring for other festivities? Also what costs extra while on the boat (beyond tipping and gifts)? :mickeyjum:dumbo::eeyore:

First off, Welcome!

I'll give you my answers but it is probably best to do a search on the cruise line forum.
What to bring? I've like having an extension cord, nightlight, over the door toiletry organizer or even an over the door shoe rack, enough camera film/disks.
What not to bring: fancy clothes, there really isn't a "formal" night like other cruise lines. The one exception would be Palo for dinner.
Also, remember to pack what you want for the 1st afternoon in a separate bag with you. Depending on when you get on, you may not see your luggage in your room until dinner time (rough estimate).

What else costs: alcoholic drinks, excursions, photos at shutters, Palo, snack food or candy from the gift shop. There are also rentals at Castaway Cay thet you pay for.

We are getting close!!! :yay:

i saw that our forecast had changed and i know it will probably change again... how cold do you think the water will be in nassau and cc?

My BIL and his family were on the 4 night Wonder cruise that sailed 1/17/10, and she said that while the water was a little on the chilly side on CC, they still did the stingray excursion and were in and out of the water all day. They are from Maryland, if that makes a difference in what "chilly" means. I am guessing that it won't be too cold for my kids, but it probably will be for me!
