January 30, 2014 - Disney Dream - 3 Night Bahamas

Woo-hoo - we finally booked tonight! I'm so excited. This will be our 3rd Disney cruise. We have 3 boys (13, 11, and 8). My oldest is a little unsure about this cruise - he had an absolute blast on our 7 day Fantasy last February and made several friends that he still keeps in touch with. He is afraid he won't meet anyone on this cruise. Does anyone else have kids in the 13-14-ish age range (either boys or girls)?
Welcome!

I believe someone posted that their 14 year old daughter will be cruising.

Cute idea!

Wish I could sew; I had to buy one from eBay! :confused3

HA! I couldn't sew a straight line if I tried! I took two cardboard boxes, cut out two large squares out of the middle, and four smaller squares, took some black fabric and hot glued it on the cardboard to make the backer, added some red ribbon to tie around the fish, then wrapped the smaller squares in red and white fabric, hot glued it around the square... for the bottom and sides, took some smaller cuttings of cardboard and covered them with black fabric (you guessed it) hot glued the pieces to the back of the small squares and used the glue to stick them on the backing... then added felt circles to make a mickey, cut out everybody's name, and hot glued it all together... took about an hour and half to do one, since I've never tried it before... Just have to personalize it with some stickers or some other things and we're done!
But what ever works is awesome!!! I've seen some awesome ones made out of mesh!
:thumbsup2

Morning all! Who is first time cruising? Who's having a birthday this cruise? Seems like we have four or five that are Birthday Girls/Boys... Just wondering...

Good Morning! According to the Disney app, we sail in 17 days, 14 hours and 52 mins. Lol

This is my third cruise, first on DCL. My BFF's daughter turns 5 on the day that we sail. My daughter will be 4 on the Wednesday after we return.

Yes, February 1st is my (chronotis) birthday. This will be my husband and mine's 3rd Disney cruise and 7th cruise overall (1 on Celebrity, 2 Carnival, 1 Norwegian).

As I was researching FE ideas, I was wondering, what is everyone's favorite character?

Betty: Tinkerbell
Duane: Goofy

Mine is the Genie from Aladdin, Jean's is Snow White, Doug's is Mickey, Sarah's is a toss up between Mickey and Perry the Platypus.
:O)

Mine is Minnie
DD is the entire Mickey's clubhouse crew. :rotfl: She's not really into the princesses yet, but we just re-watched Tangled, and she's all about "Apunzel" now. She'll recognize Cinderella, Ariel, Rapunzel and Jasmine.

We'll be at WDW from 1/24 to the day of the cruise. 3 nights at Boardwalk and 3 nights at the Grand Floridian with our DVC points. Can't wait!

That sounds wonderful!! We are just staying the night before at AKV!!

- There are no assigned days/times to deliver.
- List Closes 1/17/14.
- Final list will be updated by 1/18/14.
- Tip: Start with all aft (or forward) cabins, then make your way to mid ship then forward. Easier to go up and down versus across each deck.
- Tip: Deliver any items you intend people to use onboard early in the cruise.

FE Description borrowed from another group:
Named for the decor from which they hang, fish extenders are usually handmade pocket organizers (similar to a shoe caddy or mail organizer) customized with names, favorite Disney characters, etc. These pocket organizers are hung from a decorative fish ornament that is attached to the wall outside of each cabin on the Disney cruise ship.

A fish extender group is basically a gift exchange, albeit with a little extra pixie dust. Prior to the cruise, fish extender groups are formed and organized via an online Disney fan site. Once numbers are finalized, each member of the group prepares a gift for the other participating cabins. There are no rules regarding gifts (no minimum or maximum dollar value). Often times, the gifts are handmade, but not always. Once the cruise has commenced, participants deliver their gifts to the other participating staterooms, leaving them as a surprise in the fish extender pockets. One of the most fun aspects of taking part in a fish extender group is checking in throughout the day to see what little goodies are waiting.

My bff and her hubbie would like to participate in the FE with us. Please add:

April and LaBron, room 5660 (aft). Favorite character: Mickey (for both of them). No alcohol gifts please. April LOVE milk chocolate with nuts! ;)

Hi there! Found a great group on FB which will do your custom designs for door magnets, it's called "Magical Mickey Graphics & More". the designers do it for free, then you download them, so that you can print them out and stick the magnets on the back!! They do this pretty quickly too... Good thing! I was having issues trying to find something with my name on it! LOL!

FE list updated. Also added a notation with favorite characters.

I originally was not planning on participating, but decided to add us to the list now!
