January 3, 2011 - 5 night Bahamas Sailing

I like the promenade lounge suggestion, but think it is very close to the safety drill. My experience is that people tend to come late to these things meets and that would really cut the time short. It's just my opinion, but I think 3:00 or 3:15 would be better.

Yeah, we met right after the safety drill back in Aug. and then everyone was already on deck for the party. People did still come late!

I doubt we'd be able to make that meet time. Once staterooms are open, we rush in and get DD settled for a nap (yes, she will be 4 in March and still takes a nice afternoon nap - happy child = happy parents ;) ). Last time, she didn't fall asleep until probably 2-2:30pm, so I am doubting we would be able to do that time. We are just one family, though, so we don't expect anyone to plan around us :flower3:

Is there a cruise meet planned?

Is anyone running the Castaway Cay 5k?

Is anyone interested in sharing the costs for a private shuttle to and/or from the cruise port and airport?

Jeff

I don't know about a cruise meet, but my husband and I are planning to do at least one of the 5ks. It'll be a nice change from running in Illinois in the winter!

I have a very outgoing 5 year old daughter and this is our first cruise, so I will follow along with whatever the majority decides to do. I just want to be sure our family is where we need to be in plenty of time for the safety drill since it is our first and we really don't have any idea what to do in an emergency! :)

Before the safety drill does not leave much time to hang out. I suggest after the safety drill before the sailaway party. This allows everyone to gather and hang out in a group for the party.

Im getting confused:) but, what time is sailaway party? What time is the lifeboat drill?

And when can I order my first drink? lol.

You can order your first drink at lunch, right after you board the ship!

The drill is at 4pm and doesn't take very long.

The Sail-a-way party is at 5pm on Deck 9 (but we like to view it from above on Deck 10), which is when we depart from the port.

Shortly after that, if you have main/first seating, dinner is at 5:45pm.

That first day BLOWS by - that's why we like to get to the port at 10am and be in one of the first boarding groups ;)

So should we try a Dis-meet at 4:30 (after safety drill before the sail away party) goofy pool area on deck 10 overlooking the terminal?

Me too! sometimes I'll forget and two or three days will go by but it seems like everyday.

Great! I look forward to meeting you guys, and some little ladies for my DD (5) to hang out with! :cool1:

I am already looking forward to the bahamas in January.

I guess it depends on where you come from.

We are not Michigan, but, coming from the Rockies, anything in the 70s or 80 will be downright balmy in January.

I know the resorts heat the pools. Do the ships also?

Oh yes. In fact, in the summer, they are too warm, to the point where they are not refreshing. Should be very nice in Jan :) It will be getting out of the water when the cool air hits ya :rotfl:

Ooh, scrolling back it appears we have some Canadians as well.

We can all revel in the heat of the Bahamas in January :yay:

Sounds good!

I want to know my room number!!!! It's so hard to have patience! I wanna know now! :)

Have any of you read any of the threads recently about recent reports on the Magic? I am not at all concerned with little things (people were complaining about scratches on the desk -- really??), like paint, a little rust on the verandah, things like that. I am concerned about the water/sewage problem that seems to be on Deck 2 (I am mearly going out on a limb that the 11C GTYs will be upgraded to Cat 9s on Deck 2 or at the very least cat 10s). I just hope that they can get those problems worked out by then. I don't think it's not too much to ask to be able to take a hot shower in my own stateroom, and not have an overflowing toilet/sewage smell.

Yes, I WILL have a problem if that happens to us. That is just unacceptable.
