January 3, 2011 - 5 night Bahamas Sailing

I have been looking for a 4 person 11C for well over a month and even called DCL to see if they would book a group of 4 in an 11C. Unfortunately, they are only available for 2 or 3 guests. I was told they have so many 11C reservations they would not be opening it up to a group of 4. We ended up doing kids sail free in veranda.

We had sailed in Cat 12 (now 11C) with 4 people before so I was disappointed we couldn't get it for this cruise. We ended up being upgraded to a Cat 10.

As far as resorts, we really like Port Orleans. We found Caribbean Beach too crowded but it was over Thanksgiving so it could have been the time of year and not the resort itself. That trip convinced us to never go over Thanksgiving again.

I've been to CBR three times - twice in June, once over Christmas and never had a problem with crowds. Now that we are local, we tend not to spend the $$$ for Disney resorts (although did CSR since I attended a conference there that my employer paid for).

Thanksgiving is murder at WDW. Last year, drove over the Sat after Thanksgiving- did ICE! @ Gaylord Palms, then headed over to DD for lunch. It was disgustingly busy. We did a little resort hopping to show them the holiday decorations, then headed into Celebration for dinner & their nightly "snow." It was nice, but super super crowded.

I was just coming back to post that we want to participate in the FE. I see there has been some convo about it. We are willing and interested in exchanging with everyone but encourage everyone not to go overboard! This should be fun, not stressful or too expensive.

so, add us pls.

I have our room already...havent participated on these boards much yet though so, I feel sort of funny, do I just post it here? I will PM Silverfox.

Hi we are officially joining you all. :thumbsup2....
Me, 36 years old; DH 42, DS 2 ½, DD 18mo. Not sure how it will work we have two cabins 11C and they do not connect so we may have one cabin just sitting empty.

I would like to also do the FE and find it great fun.

Sorry for the delayed FE updates, I was out of town last week and did not spend any time on the boards.

I hope I did not miss. Just let me know. I will try to reformat the list this week.
Updated FE List

Holy crap!
Don't you mean Holy Ship! (inside joke, I know)

oops, Im realizing that I misspelled DDs name in my FE signup. Um yeah, Im a lazy typist. Its actually Kiera (I before e, except after c...). Just in case that matters...

No problem. It's fixed now.

At one point there were rumors that the Magic, Wonder, and Dream would be getting together near Castaway Cay on the 7th during our cruise. Has anyone seen any recent rumors or information on the ships doing a photo op?

Here's my speculation...

The Wonder leaves port Jan 6th at 5pm, and the Magic (us) will be at CC, so I don't think it will be that day. BUT, on the 7th, the Magic will be at sea/on her way back to the Port (as our cruise ends Jan 8th), and the Wonder will be at CC, so I'll bet the pic is going to be 1) early AM with all 3 ships at sea, &/or 2) Wonder docked at CC with the Magic and Dream at sea.

Seems like the most logical, so we'll see!

That would be thee best birthday present ever. I hope it's the 7th :yay::yay::yay:and that I'm awake to see it.

The Wonder is due into Castaway Cay at 8:15 am. Depending on what time the sun rises, I would guess the photo would be taken in between sunrise and 8am.
Or it could be when they are departing Castaway Cay. Do you think we could "hang out" off of Castaway Cay for the day?
I would guess early morning, They probably do not want a bunch of passengers waving to the camera - or they can just photo shop us out...lol!
Has anyone asked the reservationist?

DD18 has off college from mid December until the end of January. We are booked on the 15-night Panama Cruise and now I have also booked this 5-night cruise in an 11C GTY. I have until later this week to choose which one we will go on. Would love to do the PC cruise, but that will be pricey and college is very expensive. If we do the 5 night, we will go to WDW for a few nights before the cruise. We are DVC members and also have AP's, so that doesn't add much to the total cost.

Another consideration is my time off work for the PC cruise will use up over 1/2 my vacation time for 2011 by the 3rd week of January! With the 5 night, I will use my remaining 2010 time for WDW and one week of my 2011 time.

Our biggest worry is the weather in January. We have been to WDW in late December/early January the last few years. We have experienced delightful weather some years and other years, it has gotten downright frigid! Oh - decisions, decisions! We did cruise in January once and we had fine weather in the Bahamas; even got in the water at CC. I guess it is just up to Mother Nature.

If we sail with all of you on the 5-night, we would love to participate in the FE. We've done a few in the past and always enjoyed them. I'll let you know what we decide later in the week.

ok just got off the WBTA cruise and booked this cruise while on board! The kids do not know about it - not sure when I will tell them - and my DH will not be joining us - he will be working - and I will be using this cruise as a work time while the kids are taken care of with all the activities Disney has!

Is there still any activities available to join - like the FE? I will try to go back and read all the pages over this week. Also is there a list of cruisers?
