JANUARY 27, 2007 "PAL MICKEY" Western Magic ROLL CALL

Sounds like you will have a lot to celebrate! :thumbsup2

I updated the cruiser list page with your info. I will hold off on adding the stateroom until you confirm the number. Thanks again! :)

Hey guys,

It's been over a week with no posts here. Where is everyone?

Here's a quick question for cruise veterans. We booked this upcoming cruise while we were on our last cruise. We didn't list an agent at the time. My MIL's SIL is a travel agent and wants us to assign her to the reservation. She says we'll still have the same price and still get all the bonus things we got from booking on board and she can give us an additional $50 per stateroom shipboard credit. (We have 3 rooms). Can she really do that? It sounds too good to be true. I think we got really good rates when we booked, plus we got $200 per room shipboard credit. I've always tended to make my own travel arrangements and haven't ever really used a travel agent, so I don't know how things go.

On a different note, I am now on bedrest until the end of my pregnancy. The little pirate keeps trying to come out early and I'm not due for another 11 weeks. I'm making sure he's all ready for the cruise though. I found a few outfits at Target that I added to the baby registry that will be quite useful for the cruise.

I'm still on the fence about the Pal Mickey. On one hand, I think he would be a lot of fun and my DD3 would love him. But then I also worry about the amount of stuff we're going to be hauling through the airport. My parents are planning to drive down a week or so before the cruise and they said they could take some stuff with them, so it might not be too bad. I guess the big thing is when to get the Pal Mickey. Do I get it for DD3 when the baby is born, so she has her own new baby? Do I get it for her for Christmas? Do I get it for her for her birthday, which is 5 days before the cruise?

I think I need that cruise outfit list again. How do real baby clothes compare to Pal Mickey's clothes? I was thinking briefly I could have him match the rest of the family with the Waikiki shirt, but that would probably swim on him. I'll figure something out. I've got plenty of time now just laying around.

Kim - If you only paid the deposit for your cruise and have not made additional payments, you should have no problem transferring your reservation to a travel agent. If you have made any payments in addition to the initial deposit, it may be more difficult (but not impossible) to transfer the res. If you have paid your cruise in full, it could be extremely difficult and possibly not do-able to get them to transfer the reservation. That is completely against their policies.

I think the additional fun you would have on the cruise with Pal Mickey is worth the extra bit of weight! He can be clipped to a belt or bag strap or carried on his lanyard. And as I mentioned, taking him does not mean you have to carry him all the time when onboard. He would really be a LOT of FUN!

As for clothing for Pal Mickey: Size 0 to 1 baby shoes and socks fit him. Baby clothing generally does not. A shirt for a small preemie might though. For $10 you can purchase the official "Pal Mickey tourist" costume for him at WDW. That would serve nicely on the cruise and he would have the tux he comes in for formal night, and his "sewn-on" red shorts are always there so he can go "topless" also - LOL. Please don't let not having a wardrobe stop you from bringing him.

If you can sew well or know someone who can, you could always purchase very small baby clothes and alter them to fit if you would like him to match the family.

Just wanted to let you know that we are no longer going to be on this cruise. We have now opted to do Land and Sea the week before. Have a great cruise everyone!
Laura

Sorry to lose you, Laura. You have a great cruise (and WDW stay) also!

I made my first Christmas present/cruise goody purchase yesterday. At Walmart they have the princess cameras with a roll of film inside. It was all of $10 so I picked it up for me DD7. I guess now I have officially started Christmas/Cruise shopping. I am also going to do some "sale" shopping for some nice some shorts for my kids. After Christmas is the best time to buy a dress for formal night. :thumbsup2

I can't wait for our cruise, it won't be long before we can make Palo and excursion reservations. Has anyone figured the exact 90 day or 75 day yet? I may have to do that soon so I can mark it on my calendar.

She is going to love that camera, Im sure. Way cool. Good luck on those sales for shorts, and later formal wear. It is so exciting planning, finding clothes, trinkets, etc..... Now to wait another 5 months grrrrrrrrrrr

Getting thru the holidays is first hurdle for me. Wish could skip those and jump right to the cruise <G>

Just stopping in to say "hi" :wave2: to everyone. I have been seemingly quiet the last few weeks. I say seemingly cause I've been busy as heck!

Ah....wish our cruise would get here!!! :hourglass

The cruise will get here soon enough - right after everyone recovers from the holidays!

msaseifert - your DD7 will DEFINITELTY love that camera!

Kim - Thanks for the dates. Everyone also needs to remember (official DCL info): "Your full and final payment for Stateroom Categories 1-3 must be made 90 days prior to departure. Your full and final payment for Stateroom Categories 4-12 must be made 75 days prior to departure. You cannot make advance arrangements, such as booking shore excursions, making Palo reservations or registering for children's activities, until you have paid in full." So you will want to make sure your cruise is paid in full prior to those early reservation dates if you want to make your special ressies at that time, because that will be BEFORE final payment is actually due.

Thanks so much for the dates.........I have a big mickey ear drawn on my calendar for Oct 29..............how exciting! I know we have to have pd in full before we make reservations but I wonder how close I can cut it? I just want my money to work for me as long as it can :goodvibes

I never thought I would be in this position. Our DVC points were going to expire or we would lose them. Looked at the school calendar for DS11 and DD6 and found they were off half the week for teacher work days. We have just enough points for the January 27 Western. So we booked.

I'm calling it our 'accidental vacation'. All the pieces just fell into place.

At present, all we know is that DW will bake in the sun, the chlidren will enjoy the week away from school, and I will not think about work. Sounds like a good start.

Best wishes to our fellow cruisers.

WELCOME, jjw5nh! Please check out the very first post in this thread and visit our mini-website and cruiser list (linked from that thread). If you post here or e-mail or PM me additional info, I will add it to the cruiser list web page. There is a spot for where you live (state or city/state), first names, your dining assignment (Main/Early or Late), any celebrations (birthdays, anniversary, first cruise, etc.), and stateroom number and/or category. Feel free to provide as much or as little info as you wish.

We hope you and your family will have a fantastic time on Pal Mickey's Gathering at Sea - with or without a Pal Mickey! :goodvibes

Everyone, please note that we have another new cruise family: crazymommy - Herself, DH, DS 5, DD3. WELCOME! I added them to our cruiser list yesterday.

Also, if any of you would like pictures of yourselves to be on our Pal Mickey Gathering at Sea website, such as from a previous Disney cruise or just family pics, all you have to do is create a slideshow at Slide.com and PM or e-mail me the code so I can put it on the website.

It's very easy. You don't even have to have your photos online yet because you can upload them to Slide.com directly from your computer. Just follow the steps, leave everything at the defaults but make sure the code is HTML/Web page. From the main page select "Make A Slide Show." You do NOT have to register and log-in, but if you don't you won't be able to go back and edit the slideshow later. Let me know if you have any questions. :smooth:

Is there anyone here bringing Pal Mickey on the cruise for whom I have not noted it on our cruiser list?

If so, please let me know via PM or e-mail. Thanks!
