JANUARY 27, 2007 "PAL MICKEY" Western Magic ROLL CALL

Hi all! Just want to let everyone know that we are in as well. This will be our firt family cruise. My wife and I, along with a 3 and 1 year old, can't wait. We are actually getting married in Sept. and this is kind of our honeymoon. (Yes, we like to do things backwards) I know, with the kids, but we couldn't stand to leave them for a week. :confused3 Look forward to chating with you all! B
WELCOME kjnwags! I added you to our "cruiser list" web page HERE. To add info - dining seating (Main or Late), stateroom, etc. - you can PM or e-mail me.

Also be sure to visit our mini website for our cruise HERE. :cool1:

kjnwags:

We have a 3 year old as well and are hoping for a second honeymoon ourselves. :cloud9: Welcome aboard.

Let me add my welcome as well!!! :cheer2:

It's nice to see our cruise meet thread growing as the cruise gets closer. I think we're almost down to the 5 months mark.

I don't know if it's a cruise meet thread but even those who may choose (boo-hoo) not to "meet" are bound to run into the rest of us here and there on the ship. :teeth:

On that subject: Does anyone have any desire or ideas for any meets during the cruise? No obligation, just an opportunity for those who wish. Of course, when you see someone with a Pal Mickey onboard, you know it has to be "one of us" from this group. Please do say hello even if you choose to remain anonymous. LOL

I thought a brief (10 minutes?) "introductions" meet on embarkation day might be nice, but people can get very busy on Day One - especially first time cruisers figuring things out. For a Pal Mickey group photo I was thinking Formal Night might be nice because those with the HCOE (current) Pal will have the tux, even if they may not have other clothing for him. What do you think?

For those who may have joined this thread recently, please let me know if you have and will be bringing a Pal Mickey so I can add that to the list! :cool1:

The top of the page SAYS it's a Cruise Meet thread - that's my story and I'm sticking to it!! :lmao:

If enough people are interested in doing a short meet - I'd be all for it. I know people usually end up having tons of stuff to do, but it would sure be fun to actually meet some of you!

True, but since it would be nice if everyone on the DIS who is on this cruise would post here to let us know, even if they DON'T want to meet others, I like to think of this as a "Who is going on our cruise?" thread and not only for those who choose to meet. I know that some people and their families, although comfortable chatting on a message board, are not comfortable meeting "strangers from the Internet" in person. That's okay and I don't want to scare anyone away, you know?

For any of those who might be hesitant to meet, we can let them know that the message board is where you and I first met, that we ended up sharing a room at WDW twice and now a stateroom on this cruise, and that often meeting those "strangers" from the Web can foster great friendships.

As an embarkation day meet possibility - - I once went to such a mini-meet in the Promenade Lounge at 3 p.m. - after lunch, after nearly everyone has boarded (even the late ones), and long before the safety drill. It is a very convenient location that everyone walks by. Would anyone be up for that - just a "stop by to say hello" meet at Promenade Lounge? It is open to the corridor (no doors) and open to all ages.

Hi everyone, I spent so much time on the beach this summer :cool1: I lost track of this site... Threesit and I were soaking up the sun the other weekend and both commented on how we somehow fell off the automatic notification list when there is a posting. I hope everyone had a great summer. It was my first summer off in many years and I loved it...can't wait until the cruise now!
What's new?????

Wendy (Old Mom)

Glad you had a good summer and it's GREAT to have you back on the thread! What's new? Hmmm . . . Several new added cruisers I think . . Can you browse through ALL the posts since you temporarily left us? :rotfl2:

Are you packed yet? LOL

For anyone who doesn't yet know about this, here is the latest update on stateroom amenities and bedding. And no, I'm sure they will not give you enough to hoard away to give to all your friends, but their standard is to provide enough for each stateroom occupant to use each day, so if you choose not to bring your own shampoo and such you should still be fine.

Disney Upgrades Bedding, In-Cabin Amenities

Even cruisers have to sleep sometime, and Disney Cruise Line is answering the wake-up call for better beds by upgrading every stateroom in its fleet with new mattresses and luxurious linens. Disney will also introduce new in-cabin bath and shower products developed by H20 Plus, a line of water-based products derived from marine botanicals.

The enhancements are currently being rolled out on both Disney Wonder and Disney Magic, with all products and upgrades expected to be in place by October.

Disney joins a throng of major cruise lines that have already committed to upgrading bedding onboard, most recently Royal Caribbean. Many even sell their mattresses -- and brand-new duvets and sheets -- including Carnival, Holland America and Oceania.

All cabins onboard Disney Magic and Disney Wonder will be outfitted with:

Sealy Posturepedic Premium Plus Euro-top mattresses
New pillows
Frette 300-thread-count linens of 100 percent Egyptian cotton
Larger, plusher towels and bath sheets in bathrooms
H20 Plus Spa Sea Marine Revitalizing Shampoo
H20 Plus Spa Marine Collagen Conditioner
H20 Plus Spa Hydrating Body Butter

Concierge level suites will also offer a "Pillow Talk" menu with a selection of hypo-allergenic, feather and therapeutic memory foam options, and additional H20 Plus offerings such as Sea Salt Body Wash and Solar Relief Gel.

Not a concierge passenger? Not to worry -- an expanded line of H20 products, including the body wash and gel as well as fruity body balms and a minty foot rub, will be available for purchase in Treasure Ketch, the ships' gift shop, from $8.50.

Ooohhh, how nice!! Of course, being a 1st time cruiser, i have nothing to compare it against but i'm sure it will be lovely. I'm up for a meet as well - 3 p.m. sounds just great- keep us posted!!

I posted the Promenade Lounge meet info on the MEETS page of our little website for our cruise. I'm sure other meet opportunities will be added there before our cruise. Anyone with any ideas, please let me know. Thanks! :cool1:

I would really enjoy at least meeting others to say hi and an introduction. even if we just say hi, and ppl go thru way. I realize ppl will have their own plans, schedules etc... but it would be fun to meet and get a group pic if possible with those up for that.

and yes I will agree to be in the picture if its a group pic <G>

Oh my gosh! - YOU are willing to be photographed? :dance3: FYI to all - - I have known her for at least a few years now and only ONCE has she ever permitted a photo, and that was at a distance!

Yes, it would be great if sometime during the cruise (It's a bit too hectic on Day One - a day at sea would be good) we could get one pic of the entire group, one of the Pal Mickey group with their Pals, and one of maybe just all the Pals in an interesting location. Plus, I am hoping that anyone who brings their Pal will allow me to photograph him if I see him around the ship or on the islands, and to add the pictures to PalMickey.net! I hope some will also send me their own Pal pics for that website. :surfweb:

I am only making this as an option for a special occasion LOL. I am looking forward to getting pics of others with or without Pal Mickeys. And for sure would love to get as many Pal Mickey's in different locations when possible.

Brady - It's nice that you will allow yourself to be photographed for a change. After all, if there are no photos of you on the cruise, you won't have anything to look back at to recall your vacation and when you get older it may be difficult to remember everything - LOL. :lmao:

Now the bad news: Unless the Shutters routine has changed in the last year or so, they put ALL the photos they shoot every day up on boards in their "store" for all to see. They are categorized by day and event (ie. embarkation photos, character breakfast, formal night shots, etc.) then you have to find them on the board, select the ones you want to purchase, and drop the others in a box. Believe me, you will want the official photographers to shoot pics of you for all those "posed" shots. Most of their photos are quite good so you may want to purchase at least a couple even though they are expensive. You are under no obligation to buy any of the photos, but there may be quite a fuss if you have a friend shoot you with your camera in front of their backgrounds but refuse to let them photograph you at all. Just thought I'd give you a heads-up about that. If anyone knows of any policy change, please correct me.

when I get older it may be hard to remember, LOL, I have trouble remembering things now LOLOL.

We got mail from DISNEY today!!!

We had an awful goopy rainy day today. This was the kids first day back to school but my daughter is in a brand new school this year so buses were late and unorganized - she is in 2nd grade. My oldest went off for his first day of middle school - AAHHHHH!

Anyways, it was a nice refreshing site to see a package with Disney's name on it. It was the excursion/cruise booklet. It was nice reading it after reading all those syllabus's and handbooks and policies - YIKES! I have October 29th marked on my calendar and you know I think that may be when daylight savings time kicks in too! So that means you have to get up at 2am to set your clock back to 1am and then set your alarm for 3am to make your ressies :rotfl2:

I'll be watching the mailbox - although it seems to take forever to get things delivered to a "foreign" :rotfl: country... My daughter started full-day school yesterday as well - she was in half-day senior kindergarden last year. She was very excited (so was Mom) but her little sister didn't know what to do....

Can't wait to start booking things/making ressies!!! Woohooo!!

I was surprised by the package, which they call "My Cruise Travel Kit." It is so much nicer than that old little booklet they used to send - not as easy to handle, but nicer. :goodvibes

The 29th is when Daylight Savings Time ends - Oh, no! One more thing to complicate matters - hahaha. We will all be sleep deprived!

Got our travel pack too today!

What a pleasant surprise; our last cruise we didn't get them until a few weeks before sailing. The layout is great too. I'll be going over it tonight, etc.

Not sure yet if we'll do a Palo meal. We had celebrations last cruise, but nothing special this time around.
