JANUARY 27, 2007 "PAL MICKEY" Western Magic ROLL CALL

Well, When we went on the Eastern with our 1 year old (13 months), we went on that submarine type ride where you go just below the surface and view the tropical fish. She did great as well as our boys who were 6 and 8. It was me and the two cups of Rum punch that was the problem! On the bus ride back, I had to go to the bathroom so bad, that the only worse pain I have ever had was childbirth. Now I am cautious about drinking the rum punch unless there is a bathroom nearby. :rotfl2:

We also went on a bus tour of the island that ended at an aquarium. We got to pet a shark, and my one year old was the only one brave enough to do it. Yes, I stuck my babies hand right in that tank, and have the photo to prove it! I brought my stroller to both places and it was a full size too! No trouble at all. I think the only thing that you probably won't be able to do is snorkle. Well, maybe parasail.

While walking in the little towns on one of the islands, I ducked into a BurgerKing and nursed her in the corner booth and all was wonderful!

We also brought her to the private island and she played in the sand and took a nap laying on my belly while I floated on the raft in the water. I simply had my husband place a towel over her whole body and she never got a speck of sun. I on the other hand did get sun! Worked out great!

The only time she went into Flounders was when we did the Surial (sp)Bath (Yaow!) and when we ate at Palo's.

I have not checked out the options yet on this cruise. We (Unlike Oldmom in the big time concierge room) have to wait till closer to the date. :goodvibes

Beth in Ohio, soon to be in Michigan!

You know what else I heard...While at WDW in Feb. we took advantage of the photopass. We purchased the CD of all the pictures taken of us at every park for the whole time we were there (5 days). We were leaving for the cruise when we purchased the CD for $100 (there were over 130 photos on it!) and were told they were working on the same type of thing for the ship. With any luck they will do that by the time we get on it!

Even if you don't want the CD (Seems pricey but we saved $ in the long run) if you use the photopass (they scan it before each photo, then you keep the photopass card), you can view your photos from home for up to 30 days after your trip! You can buy them via your computer in the comfort of your own home and at your own pace. This also gives you a chance to see how the photos turned out that you took with your camera and then decide if you want to purchase more.

Well, just FYI!

Beth

Gee, Threesit! You seem to know alot about the concierge service. Could it be that you...too partook of the ultimate splurge??? Just kidding...I know you did, because you are the one who gave me the bug to try the upgraded cabin this year....next time I'll come back to reality...

Anyways, how does this concierge service work. It doesn't say much about it online other than to say we can use it before the cruise??????

Miss you!

Regards,
Old Mom - Or "Twosit for sure" (you know what I mean)

Oldmom (you can't be that old - you've got a 6 month old like me), what room are you in?? We will be in a Cat 3 too - 8522. There are lots of threads about what the concierge will (and won't) do for you but what I like is that they'll try and make ressies for you. Not sure however this being my first DCL cruise and all..... :woohoo:

It would be wonderful if they get a PhotoPass system going by the time we cruise. I have to admit I don't buy the ones from the park as I'm there so often - but I would if there was an exceptional one. I'd be more likely to get ones from the cruise - and I'd be even MORE likely to do so if I had leisure time to peruse them.

Hey....do you realize in just four days - our trip will be UNDER 10 months away? (as I write this my trip ticker says 10 months 3 days....so soon it will say 9 months...and 9 months sounds just soooo much closer than 10.... (figure DIS people will understand that logic...

We are in Cabin 8078. I'm going to be 44 next month. Our little one just turned 10 months old today. Needless to say, she was a big surprise. I now have the record for the oldest new mom in my large family. I beat my sister by 1 year.

Anyways, I'll check out some of the other threads on concierge...Thanks!

PS - I broke the news to hubby that there is no more ESPN sky box...he is seriously bummed :sad2: but this time he'll have friends along to hang with so I'm sure he'll survive! He occasionally likes a good cigar (maybe once or twice a month but definately on vacation). Is smoking allowed anywhere on the ship???
:hippie:
Peace!
Wendy (Old Mom)

You are old :rotfl2: :rotfl2: just kidding of course - I'll be 42 this year and my DD will be 7 months next week. I also have another DD 5 1/2. We started a little late considering my oldest & dearest friend is now a grandmother :rotfl: . I read on one of the navigators that they allow smoking in some of the clubs after 9:30 so maybe your DH can take advantage of that??

Okay...okay...I know this is going to sound nuts. I just wanted to see the ticker on my post showing it's 10 months 1 day until the cruise.... If I squint I can block out the 10 months and it says "1 day"!!! :stir:

Hey...I know things CAN change - but I bet they'll keep it. I'm talking about Pirate Night. Anyone on here planning on dressing up for that? (I am)

Last time I just wore the bandana (that they give you at dinner) on my head with what I had on, but I didn't keep it on for long (I got too warm as usual). The only way I'll dress for Pirate Night is if I find something I really like for it. Being a pale blonde doesn't make me feel too into the part, but I really enjoy the goings-on. It's a fun night! :teeth:

I am sick right now - sore throat, can hardly swallow, chills, no energy and I look dreadful. So what better to do than be online? It's nice to see increasing activity here. ;)

When we were cruising the Eastern in Feb (last month) we found some cool "pirate" t-shirts in St, Maarten and those are what we wore to dinner. We all matched and a lot of folks made comments on how "cute" we were. We happened to be in Parrot Cay that night so I felt we could "dress down" a little and fit right in. Honestly, we were almost overdressed. Almost everyone had casual clothing on.....some dressed in pirate gear but some wore old faded blue jeans. My daughter and I wore our pirate shirts with capris, my son and my hubby wore black jeans. I think this cruise we will bring our t-shirts back with us and do the same.......unless my kids (10 and 6) grow out of them first! :confused3

I've been keeping an eye on e-bay for some cool pirate t-shirts for the family. Seen a few but have to keep in mind that my kids will probably have grown by then too... I keep telling my DD (5) that I'm going to start putting a brick on her head while she sleeps - I can't seem to keep her in pants!! Take care everyone :wave2:

My family went out shopping right before our last cruise. We bought jewelry and pirate stuff to wear for the cruise. Then pirate night, we didn' t think we were supposed to wear it to dinner, just the party part. We were too tired after dinner to do the party, so we never even dressed up. We'll probably bring our stuff again this time. I'll still need to find something for the littlest one. I've gotta find out if it's a girl or a boy first though. I bet he/she will be the littlest pirate at just 3 months old!

Our party:
Me, DH, DD 11, DS 7, DD4, D? due 10/23/3006
DM, DD, DB?
DMIL

We also have friends going with DW, DH, DD11, and DS8. Trying to get another group of friends, too. The more the merrier (and the more to hold the baby)

Oh, sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. You are right though - what better to do than go online and check out all the fun stuff!

Feel better! (need you to get well so we can have a Garden Grill "fix" again soon!!!!) :goodvibes

Well, TODAY the cruise ticker says "10 Months" - Hooray!

I found an outfit I would like for Pirate Night. pirate: So I'm glad a few others will dress up a bit. Always have that fear that I'd be the ONLY one....

Our cruise list is really growing!!!

my dw was looking at this thread and she was wondering where to get a "pal mickey" and some clothing for it. she is thinking about participating in the activities with the paople who bring one.

That would be GREAT, Dan! :teeth:

Visit PalMickey.net and click where it says "Review and Photos of the "official" Pal Mickey costumes." You can purchase Pal Mickey and the outfits at WDW, including DTD. That's the best way to do it. If you won't be at WDW before the cruise, you can call and order directly from WDW Merchandising. Either of those methods is a bit safer (and generally cheaper if you're talking the "current" HCOE Pal Mickey & clothing) than buying from E-Bay or elsewhere online, and when you buy from WDW they will back up their product should there be any problem.

Oh my gosh! I go away for a few days to house hunt and there are 100's of posts!

Ok Oldmom...you are funny! Here are some benefits to the consierge service:

We got fresh fruit in our room each day.

We made all our reservations/excursions incl.Palo with our Consierge on the ship.

We got movies and music delivered to our room when we wanted it.

We were given several photos of the ship and of the characters.

They came to check on us at least once a day to see of we needed anything

We received several cards for the kids filled with credits for the arcade

We were collecting ship trading cards and they got us the ones we couldn't

Pretty much whatever we wanted they got for us at no charge. We did tip them.

This is really the way to go! BTW. I will not be visiting your room, or sitting in your burled wood livingroom or at your georgous dining table partaking of your free fruit, because if I see your room, I will not want to go back to my room (athough it is a lovely connecter) and not
go out on my non existent double balcony!...OK, if you have cosmo's I may come.

I will talk to Brian....I am sure there were more perks, just been 5 years. UGH!

We'd love to have more Pal Mickeys on board! I see Taswira gave you the details of where to get your very own PM. There are other clothing ideas on the Pal Mickey site (www.palmickey.net) such as Build-A-Bear, etc. :mickeyjum

Beth - just wait - the closer we get to our cruise - there WILL be hundreds of posts! :surfweb:

Yes, but everyone should keep in mind that Build-A-Bear clothing does not fit Pal Mickey without serious alteration. However, the accessories and several of the Skechers shoe styles work great! The easiest thing to do for an "instant outfit" is buy the new "official Pal Mickey clothing" that Disney offers. Thanks for the "plug," Holly! :goodvibes

The thing I love about Build-A-Bear is the shoes! Taswira and I get MORE comments about our PM's when we have the shoes on!

Interestingly, and a little off-topic -Universal has put a Build-A-Bear shop near The Mummy. I don't know how long it will be there as it's added on outside of the building facade. (and it's doing QUITE well as all day long I see families with those "Bear Carriers" that look like pet boxes)
