We have booked adjoining cabins cat 6 for this cruise so my inlaws will be right next door which will be awesome (I do love my inlaws ) Anyhow, my DH wanted me to call and see if there was any chance at all we could switch to the cat 1 or 2 and all of us stay together. I called today and of course they have no cat 1 or 2 available for January or February March or April for that matter - WOW! So I asked to be waitlisted to see if we might get it. I wonder if we have a chance at all and I also wander about the pricing and how much more $$ it will be. We booked both cabins on our Feb 06 Eastern cruise so we did get a 10% discount.......do you think we have a chance???

We looked at different combinations as well - we are travelling with my mother-in-law. DH did up a spreadsheet with all of the costs and the difference between 2 Cat 4s and 1 Cat 3 was $1200. The difference between 2 Cat 6s and 1 Cat 3 was $2900. Good luck in making your decision - we agonized over ours for quite a while but when it came right down to it we realized that this may be our only cruise so why not do it up right!!

Good luck on getting the Cat 1 or 2. People DO cancel. If not we'll all have a GREAT time.

Cruising Canuck - I may go to the parks just before the cruise myself. The only day I know I probably wouldn't go is the day before as I know me - and I'll be doing last minute stuff! Taswira and I both live locally so we go very often. That would be a GREAT way to open a cruise - a day at the parks just beforehand!

this will be our 4th dcl cruise. we have done the 4 day to the bahama's, the eastern, and the first trip out of la to mexico. that one was cool! i believe that we have late seating. we are dvc members.

just to let you know how organized dcl are, we got in the mail yesterday a welcome home letter telling us welcome home from mexico. it also told us that we could make early reservations for 2007 and still get a cheaper rate, but in order to take advantage of that rate we had to respond by jan. 31 2006. and to top that of it was dated feb 20th. it made me laugh and i thought that someone else on here would get a kick out of it too! i'm not knocking the cruise line at all it just struck me as funny considering we got back from mexicoin june of last year and since then we have went on and returned from the eastern carribean in feb of this year.

One of my friends recently made reservations for this cruise and she'll be right next door to me.

Her party consists of her, DD 11, DS8, their father and their grandmother. Does that make sense. She and he are separated, but they're going on the cruise together with his mother.

I also recently found out I will have another passenger in my party that will just barely make the age requirements. 12 weeks before the cruise is November 4th and I'm due with #4 October 23rd.

I guess I need to add another counter.

I'm definitely going to go to the parks just before the cruise. I plan to take a few days off beforehand to really maximize that Disney feeling. (I work for another themepark with attractions ) GREAT time to do the parks, btw as it's not as crowded in January!

Well, howdy neighbor! I like it here alot. I moved here from Arizona (by way of NH originally) about a year ago. I'd always, always wanted to live near enough to Disney to be able to go as often as I can. When my parents wanted me to come live with them to help them out, my dream came true. I wish I could get there even more - but I do go quite often. Originally I thought I might want to work for Disney - but opted for Universal instead. I find that Disney is still "Disney" for me as I don't work there every day. I still enjoy Universal as a park - but since it is "work" it's different, ya know?

I sooo agree with you about . Still, it will go faster than we realize. I JUST watched the Travel Channel special on DCL. Was great as I'd never seen it before. All the time I kept thinking, "I'm going to be on a Disney cruise soon!"

Right now I'm working to utilize that time in a project - to release some extra weight so I can wear some great cruise clothes. (and actually consider being seen in a bathing suit!) The cruise is a great incentive. I'm not going to use the "d" word [diet] as I feel that is the kiss of death. I'm streamlining

My DH's only hesitation was keeping his mom "entertained" - any suggestions from you cruise veterans?? (She's a bit reserved).

I'm not a cruise veteran as this will be my first cruise. But I highly suspect his fears will be vanished as soon as you all step aboard. The one thing Disney seems to do really right is consider all ages and lifestyles.

And a BIG advantage of the internet such as this DIS board - is that it gives us time to get to know who is cruising with us. So even though she won't know us unless she reads these boards - we'll know you. It won't be like you are taking her on a ship with 2500 strangers. It looks like we'll range in ages in this group as well.

I was worried about my husband having enough to do on our first trip, but he is the one begging to go back a second time. He liked the ESPN sky box and just touring the ship and how it works. Mostly I think he just enjoyed relaxing without any distractions (no working cellphone or blackberry!) Anyways, I think there is a little something to keep everyone busy. Personally, I love a good lounge by the pool and a good book!

Hi and welcome MoiMoi!

No, at this time Pal Mickey isn't programmed to work on board - but there is a large group called the Pal Mickey Club (www.palmickey.net) We picked this cruise to do one of our "meets". We thought it would be fun to see how many Pal Mickeys we could get and have them all dressed up in their finest cruisewear!

Of course not everyone on this thread (or the cruise) will have Pal Mickeys. Everyone is welcome!

Yes - This cruise is our chosen "Pal Mickey Gathering at Sea." That means we are encouraging everyone who does own a Pal Mickey and will be on this cruise to bring him with them. For those who don't, we suggest that you keep an eye out for all the fun the "Pal Mickey people" will be having. It will probably make you want one. Many of us, myself included, do not have kids. That is not a requirement for having a fun time with the little mouse - heh-heh.

Forgot to mention, in case you didn't see it in previous posts, that although Pal Mickey can not tell you anything about the ship or even WDW attractions while cruising, he will still function - telling jokes, trivia, singing, laughing, playing games. So it isn't like hauling along a quiet plush (which is also fine).

not very lively in here right now. thought i'd check back in to see what's going on here. the weather here took a turn for the worse. we've had a mild winter until now. we're in a winter storm advisory until tonight and it's expected that we will get about 5 inches of snow. its days like this that make me think of better days on the ship. i hope it comes kinda quick.

Last time we went cruising was just had two 9 year olds with us so we could pretty much do any of the shore excursions (not that it mattered because they all got cancelled due to weather). Anyways, this time we will have our new addition with us. She will be 18 months at time of cruising. Can anyone advise on appropriate shore excursions? We may leave her at flounders reef if there is something we really want to do that is not appropriate, but would like to also take her some of the time. Any advice on fun shore excursions for a diverse family like us? Something that will be fun for a 12 year old and an 18 month old, if such an animal exists!

We'll be travelling with an 18 month old as well (along with a 6 year old). This will be our first Disney cruise. Any tips for excursions would be greatly appreciated by me as well!!
