January 25, 2009 on the WONDER

Hi everyone,
I am excited to see there is a thread started! Is anyone cruising with kids? We have 3 - DD10.5, DS7, DS4 at the time of the cruise.

Jennifaerie, it looks like we cruised at the same time as you already - we were on the 1/27 cruise as well - wasn't it a nice surprise to spend 2 days at CC?

Looking forward to getting acquainted with everyone... :flower3:

We have two girls who will be 9 and 7 at the time of the cruise. Welcome to the thread!

It certainly was, Samily! That's part of the reason why we booked at the same time next year-- we're hoping (crossing our fingers) we'll get that magic again! :)

That was my first cruise. Certainly an eye-opener!

Thanks for the welcomes. :)

Maybe we could let the kids get aquainted through a thread when it gets a little closer to the cruise - it just seems so far away right now! :sad1:

We're staying at the Beach Club as well! I've never been, and I want the experience of being within walking distance of Epcot.

You will just love it! Especially in January - the weather is perfect and the walk to Epcot is fantastic. You can also stand on the bridge between the Beach Club and Boardwalk and watch Illuminations.

And the pool...Beaches and Cream...Boardwalk across the way - pure bliss!

This is a great idea - our DS will be 7 at the time and can't wait for the Oceaneer's Club...! It would be great for him to "know" some kids before he gets there.

Slk, that does sound wonderful! I never even thought to try and watch Illuminations from there. Thanks!

(And I cannot *wait* to eat at Beaches and Cream!)

For those of you doing Land/Sea package, did any of you add the dining package to it? If so how much did it add to your package? I'm looking around and can't find the rates on the website.

2009 hasn't been released yet. My travel agent said I should be able to book the dining plan sometime between June and August, once the 2009 rates have been announced.

We are going on this cruise with my 7 and 10 year old girls... we went in Sept 2003 and had a blast! It will be even better now that the girls are older! I was on another thread and saw people talking about fish extenders and such... anyone interested in participating?

Welcome

what's a fish extender???

You know the fish outside of the cabin door? (To hold mail or whatever). Some people are talking about how they hang a pocket organizer over that, then you bring little gifts to put into other people's fish extender... so the kids get little gifts. Sounds kind of like it would be fun!

Count us in - I know DH and DS would love to participate. I saw these on some trip reports and they look like fun!

And Melsherard - welcome to the DIS!

Welcome!

Sounds like fun as long as we set some guidelines to keep it small - I read on another thread where it got a little out of hand & people packed an extra suitcase for the stuff!!! :scared1: :rotfl:

Well I'll have to check it out, but count us in. I'm sure the kids will get a kick out of it.

I agree... our family will not be buying large or expensive items... I think it will be fun!
By the way, I love these forums where we can get to know each other before the cruise. I think the anticipation is a big part of all the magic of the cruise. I think I am more excited than my kids are!

so is anyone celebrating anything special on your cruise? birthday, anniversary, honeymoon... my dd turns 11 the day we disembark :cheer2:
