January 24, 2004 Cruisers - Are you out there???

Kevin - your wife probably took that packing class when she was a teenager. My mom told me the trick about what to say when your husband asks, "is that new". I guess "new" is in the eye of the beholder. "No, honey. I've had this dress!" He's caught onto the fact that what I'm really saying is, "No honey, I've had this dress for a couple hours!!!"

Mariamard - We definatley need to do a dismeet. I think Sunday afternoon is perfect. That first day will just be way too busy. It sounded like a bunch of us were interested but just waiting for the time and place.

And to the dancermoms - how about your daughters putting on a show for us!!!! I have boys and while they love to dance....I'm sure your daughters dance with a little more grace...if you know what I mean. Shaking your booty to my DS is entertainment in its own way! Remember - he is the 4 year old, training to be a doctor!!!

:jester:

DancerMom - I can't speak for all the guys but I'll be wearing a suit for both formal and semi-formal nights.

As for the attire - I'll be wearing a long black dress for formal and a short black for semi formal. DH and both DS will be wearing suits. Actually, i need to get them all ties. I hope I can remember that website that has the disney ties.

DBMagic - My husband will be glad to hear that. He is fine with a suit but not interested in a tux.

I'm sure my 5 year old DD will perform any time or place. The 11 year old DD is starting to worry about what people think of her and if there are any cute boys you won't catch her dancing.

Any feedback from anyone who has done Palo. This will be our first time trying it and I'm not sure whether to do brunch or dinner. :bounce:

Here's a way we can pass the time...

A few months ago, the boards led me to a website that had all kinds of interesting tid bits about DCL. Right now, I only have a hardcopy and I'm trying to get an electronic version to post for you all to see.

In the mean time, I'll type a few tid bits for your enjoyment... (I don't credit/responsibility for the info...it came from www.hiddenmickeys.org website which right now I cannot access)

1. Over 500,000 people will be sailing on DCL annually.
2. 92% of the American public has never cruised.
3. The Disney Magic is one of the 3 largest ships in the world.
(I guess some of these statistics are dated, but I don't know the orginal date of this one)
4. The Magic was built by Fincantiei and cost $350 million.
5. For the women - there is 5500 sq ft of Disney themed shopping.
6. Disney Wonder is almost as long as the Eiffel Tower is high and it's nearly as long as the Empire State Building is high. (not sure of the Magic stats)
7. On a 3 day cruise, 6,525 pool towels will be used and washed, enough to handle every athlete of every participating country's Olympic swimming teams.
8. 8,260 cups of coffee are served on board every day. (Wonder if this stat will be changed with the new coffee cafe)
9. For those of us who were just discussing packing - DCL will transport approx. 10,000 suitcases per operating day. If each bag weighs 15 pounds (shoes included!), the team will get a great daily workout: lifting 75 tons!
10. Castaway Cay is a 1,000 acre Disney owned, 3-mile long island in the Bahamas.

Let me know if you want more!!!

DancerMom and DisneyLover - both my girls have been dancing since 3. They are now 6 & 10. They both would love to meet your DD's. My 10 year-old gets on these boards to check out who's going and who'll she'll meet on the ship. Her name is Desiree. I'm sure she'd be thrilled to get a PM or email from your children.

Hi All! How do you like our new home? I think this was one of the best things the moderators did.

Update on Sunday, January 25, 2004

Looks like we can meet at the Promenade Lounge without too much of a problem since it is not used that much!

Will get back to you all with time!

Not a bad idea -- something relaxed/casual... Good idea! Sunday would be a great day to do a "meet". As plans shape up, we can spread the word.

OK, GUYS....WE ARE GETTING CLOSE.......OUR FINAL PAYMENT IS DUE IN A COUPLE DAYS! NOW, WHEN CAN WE BOOK EXCURSIONS? I KNOW YOU ALL ARE EXCITED AS I AM, SO I DONT FEEL LIKE A COMPLETE LOSER BY ASKING:crazy: HAVE YOU STARTED PACKING YET? I HAVE...................

mariamard,

Have started to put items in a basket, haven't got the suitcase out yet. That would make it go slower i think.

But we do have a calendar with cruise photos on top, that we cross off each day. October went by very quickly :hyper:, on paper at least. lol.

The suitcases are not out yet but have been putting things aside as I have bought them. My biggest problem will be, everytime I go out I seem to find something "that would be perfect for the cruise" and put it away. That area in the closet is getting full!LOL

I put final payment down on Monday. After my last fiasco with my TA was not taking chances!

As far as excursions, it's at the 60 day mark! If my calculations are correct, but forgive me 'cause I've not had my coffee yet, that would make it around November 26th.

Oh, yea, I e-mailed guest services regarding the cake and got back the customary standard, YADDA, YADDA, YADDA! Will give them a few more days.

Is it January Yet!?!?!!?

Well it is 80 days till the cruise, but since we are leaving the day before,
I'M IN THE 70'S!!
days that is, not my age!!!

I've been having problems with my TA (AAA) and we got a letter today stating when our balance is due and get this - she isn't accounting for the last two payments OR the airline tickets that we've paid for. I can't wait for that office to open this morning!
I'm fuming!!!

I can't believe we are within the 80 day mark. What excusions is everyone looking at going on? We are doing the dolphin swim. We have gone to DC and my DD and I swam with the dolphins. It was incredible. I thought it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience but I am sure glad I was wrong.

I'm glad that other people are starting to pack and that I'm not alone. I pulled out one suitcase and am buying underwater cameras, sun screen, bandaids, tylenol, etc. as I pick it up at Wal-Mart. I thought this would avoid having to go out and spend a lot of money at once on these things.

We are also going to do the dolphin/stingray encounter. My DD11 also wants to parasail on CC, so I'm going to book that early as well. I think we might just go to the beach or shopping in St. Thomas.

I'm hoping that with Thanskgiving and Christmas coming time will go faster. October definately flew by.

buzzboymom-let us know what happens with your ta..... scratch- i am sure that they will have a cake for ypur dd. maybe , they can have a special princess or mouse stop by for a snapshotprincess: ::MickeyMo . wouldnt that be something?
