January 23, 2010 Sailing with Mickey on the Magic! **The Crusin' DISers**

Whats everyone doing in Grand Cayman??? We have a 4 and 6 years old so something family friendly

DH and I will be doing the shipwreck snorkel in the am and then plan to return to the ship, have lunch and take the kids into town so we can look around. I would like to go to the Turtle Farm but not sure how that would work due to time, location and all that.

I think I'll suggest Animal Kingdom for a single day visit. You can do and see the highlights in one day (MUST SEE Nemo and Festival of the Lion King shows). As it is the hottest park, doing it in January would be great too. You could do Disney Studios instead, if that appeals to you more, as you can get the highlights there fairly easily also.

I think I'd get frustrated with my first visit to Magic Kingdom being only one day. As a recent visitor, I'd do one day now, but I think I'd be too frantic to try and get in the 'good stuff' in just one day.

I agree! My first thought was Disney Studios as there are loads of shows there and Toy Story Mania will thrill even a non-ride lover. But AK is wonderful. Festival of the Lion King is my FAVORITE show of any of the parks. And with the cooler weather, the animals should be pretty active even in mid-day.

Okay, where does one go to purchase bandannas? I need one to wear at the pool so my head does not get blistered! So not wearing a wig at the pool! :lmao:

Assuming, of course, that it is warm enough to be at the pool without a parka!

I was at JoAnn Fabrics last night (putting final additions to our FE) and saw several bandannas. Not exactly high fashion but good cover.

I can't believe how much I have out for packing!
Next week we will all have a better weather forecast and hopefully pull out a few of those winter attire items.

Can't believe how excited I am getting. So much to do. It's good to hear from some of you that I am not the only one with a long to do list! :wizard:

Our Wal-Mart has them for $1. Let me know if you need me to pick some up.

A long list of to do's....now that is funny! I just came off a business weekend retreat & now am at a 5 day Conference. Have both my bday & husbands this week and need to pack somewhere in there...not to mention do the laundry and the FE gifts! Good news is...Tshirts done, everything bought that was needed, magnets all made, time to get packing! I'll start & finish that on Sunday!

These are the two places we are considering in Cozumel:

I work with someone who vacations in Cozumel once a year and these two places were highly recommended. I am leaning more toward the second, especially if the kids go. The price seems very reasonable. So now I don’t know what to do.LOL The weather will also be a big factor. If the water is chilly I am not to crazy about a beach day. Another reason I don't want to do it with DCL.

We decided on Nachi-Cocom for Cozumel day.

.

Still no plans for Grand Cayman. Since we're 'beaching it' on Cozumel and CC, we'll probably just get ourselves over to the turtle farm or something. I'll do whatever the girls decide.

Shhhhh, no parka jokes ;) Craft store. We have a Michael's and I just saw them there. "OR" makes great packable SPF hats...got mine at the local sporting store.

Ok, down to the last of my packing...you're going to have to forgive the crinkled bag your FE's come in but DD's suitcase was the only bag light enough to carry them in

No excursions for me..I'm spending that money at the spa :cloud9:

All 4 of us will be doing one of the dolphin experiences in Cozumel and the shipwreck/reef snorkeling excursion in Grand Cayman. Plus DH is going to parasail on CC. We live at the beach, so sitting on the beach for too many days would get dull for us. Well, it would get dull for me and the kids. DH would love nothing more than to sleep on the beach for the entire week, maybe waking up occasionally to have a beer. :beach:

Yup, I also have super-long To Do list, but here I am procrastinating on the computer. Time to get my behind in gear!

Are you all dressing up for pirate night? pirate:

Thanks for the bandanna tips! Don't even mention To-Do lists!! I will panic if I think of them!!!! I have a ton of clothes and stuff to pack all over my guest room. Last night DH tells me his dad is coming to spend the night TONIGHT!! Are you kidding me!!!!???? I am NOT ready to be putting stuff into suitcases!! This may be grounds for divorce! :lmao:

DS has full pirate gear, but no one else. I did see some pix in a trip report where people had on black pants, white shirt and red sash around the waist with bandannas on. So I might try to work that out for DS and maybe me. Do NOT see DH doing that.

Also, Kevin has a hard foam pirate sword. All the lists of what you can't bring say toy weapons, but I swear I have seen pix of kids with swords. So bring or don't? pirate:

Hey! It is a balmy 61 in Cocoa Beach right now, and in Key West high is supposed to be 69! Weather.com says 70's next week...

What time is your shipwreck/reef snorkeling in GC. I believe ours is the first group. 9:45 or something like that. It will be me, DH and my Dad if he is able. We all have pirate t-shirts. DS is 10 so will be more into it than the rest of us. I got him a glow sword from the Dollar Store and some glow necklaces.

How is Dad doing?

He is having a really tough time with the radiation. He made the comment that if he knew it would have been this bad he would have waited until Feb 1 to start. He has 30 treatments left. He did 6 weeks of chemo in the hospital which was bad also. He was injecting a smaller dosage of the chemo himself while doing the radiation but the Dr stopped that because he was getting so sick from it. Personally, I wish this entire thing was over already. I hate seeing him so sick and down about it.

Did I mention my family is from South Jersey (Camden area) and DH's family is from Central Jersey (Woodbridge area). I was born in Philly.
