January 21, 2010 - Wonder

OK. Come to think of it, previously our cruise docs usually came about 2 weeks before the cruise too... I guess that makes US the unusual ones, we got our docs for this cruise over a month prior to the cruise (before Christmas).

Lucky you, I just want everything in our hands. Our second car is being fixed and I've been stranded at home and unable to pick them up! *arg* We leave for Disney on Thursday so time is creeping up on us. I FINALLY started to pack today :cool1:

You "up north" people might be humored by the fact that we (here in Florida, 20 miles from Port Canaveral) have a chance of SNOW tonight and tomorrow! Central Florida has had several "SEVERE" weather alerts... because <GASP!> it might freeze! :rotfl:

http://www.floridatoday.com/article...086/Weather++Here+comes+another+blast+of+cold

We sure hope it warms up for the cruise... temps have been 20-30 degrees below normal all week. :scared1:

PS: I grew up in northern MN, about 60 miles south of the border with Ontario. The area is reknowned for its cold temperatures (the coldest temp ever recorded in MN is from near my hometown... it was close to -60 with -90 windchills.) I've lived in FL for 15 years now, but I still snicker when the locals here talk about 28 degrees being "so cold". :rotfl2:

Everyone,

I just PM'd out another updated FE list. The list I am handling is "officially" a kids-only list... I believe Hawky7 is managing an adults list too... no worries or hassles... be as generous (or not) as you like. This is all about FUN, if you're "worrying" about the FE list, then STOP! :) On our last cruise there were only 5 names on the list and we got way more stuff than we expected... DIS'ers are typically crazy generous and crazy nice... just plain "crazy", I guess! You first-timers are in for a big surprise!

The names currently on the list are below. If you've been following this thread, and haven't signed up yet -- I will keep it open for a few more days (until Wed Jan 13th).

KSandbergFL....: 1 boy (8)
MickeyMick1967: 1 boy (7), 1 girl (11)
MayoTwins.......: 2 boys (12,12), 1 girl (6)
Noahade..........: 2 boys (18,7), 1 girl (15)
Fivepin............: 3 boys (10,8,5)

SMSNorthUp.....: 1 boy (2), 1 girl (8)
TheFyshes.......: 1 boy (4), 1 girl (6)
CC197823........: 2 boys (10,8), 1 girl (2)

Oh I sure sure hope it heats up!!! Thats the reason we cruise in January, to get OUT of the cold!!! And if it doesn't warm up, we're not going to be going to CC, and I really NEED to get to that island!!!:)

Lets cross our fingers for some warm warm weather really soon!!!

We used DVC points for this cruise so I was unsure about the process. It seems like last time we had them about 4 wks before. They were sent ups priority.. I was hoping for some kind of upgrade, but we just got the same cabin they told us we would have when I booked with DVC and that has been on the DCL website since the beginning.

I am hoping for warmer weather... We will be in Orlando, not staying at Disney but close for the week before. I'd really love to have a bit warmer weather than now! LOL:hippie:

Hawky, Why did you say
"And if it doesn't warm up, we're not going to be going to CC, and I really NEED to get to that island!!!"
Do you think that we won't dock there if it's not warm? or if it's not warm, you just won't get off the boat? I always thought that winds were the only thing that hampered docking at CC??? Now you have me shivering.. not from cold but from fear! LOL:hippie:

LOL, no you're right it is due to winds...I'm just SUPER paranoid, since last year we didn't get to dock at CC and it was cold and windy. Not that cold, but it just wouldn't be the same on the adults only beach in 30 degree weather. Of course I guess it would be the beach, which is better than here.... BUT I REALLY want warm weather...

So no, its just me being paranoid!! I hadn't even considered not docking was an option last year, and when the captain got on and said we were having an at sea day, because we couldn't dock...I thought I was going to cry. ( Prob would have if we weren't with friends!!!)

Thanks to noahade and CC197823 for showing me the ropes to this cruise meet thread! This is our very first Disney cruise and I have learned so much from you guys on this board. We probably won't do the FE thing this time, but sounds like you'll all have great fun with it!

Are all of you meeting somewhere at a certain time and date on Jan 21? Is that what DISer's do?
-Lisa

Hi Chloe's mom,
I don't think there has been a specific meet up time and place for this cruise set up, they are however doing a Fish Extender (FE) thing that is like a gift exchange for usually DIS Cruising kids( but adult kids sometimes do partcipate too!:thumbsup2) You may want to read previous threads to see if that is something your family would want to try..

Oh and Welcome...:hippie:

I'm all for doing a cruise meet too, would be nice to put faces with the names. Should we just set a place and those who want can show up?

So is anyone else debating Nassau shore excursions? I can't decide between Blue Lagoon Beach day, Atlantis Beach day and Blackbeards Stingray adventure???.

There is not much information on DIS comparing and contrasting all 3.

We did Atlantis Beach day on our previous trip, but it was so windy, the beach was closed.. and it was coooold. Atlantis also includes the "Digg" aquarium tour.. but we have already seen that. So I am thinking of something different.

But, If it is windy again, the boats going to the other 2 will be cancelled, and we will have to go to Atlantis... but by then Atlantis will be sold out ARRHHH...:confused3

I don't know what to do on Nassau day either. I think Nassau is sorta boring. So last year we just got off and walked around and looked at the beach. Didn't go swimming because we were waiting for the beautiful beaches at CC, then we never got to go. So I'm debating, do I take a risk of not going to CC and spend Nassau day at the Spa , or we were thinking of doing one of the hotels, I think Hilton does it, where you just by a pass and can use their beach and pools all day. What to do, what to do.

Melynn what about the stingray adventure on CC? Have you ever done that? We were thinking about trying that one this time. And can you tell me about Blue Lagoon Beach day, what it is and how much it costs?

We are scheduled to do the Dolphin Encounter in Nassau, and the Stingray thing at CC and Palo the last night (if things go well in the kids club). That may be too much (or not enough), I'm not sure since this is our first Disney cruise. We really don't like being stuck to "schedules" and try to just let life happen...... I just wanted us to have some good quality family time and have some memorable experiences. Hopefully that will get us there.

I don't really like the fact that we have a certain time to be somewhere because I don't want to miss out on any of the other fun stuff going on. Any advice for me??

Also, if we HAVE to cancel the Palo reservation (if the kids club isn't going well for my daughter), how much in advance should that be done to avoid charges?

Can't wait guys! 11 more days til we leave for Florida. Hopefully this cold snap will be gone by then!

I live about 30 minutes from Orlando and it is COLD today. Not what we are use to. Looks like it is going to warm back up here by the end of next week. Low 70's. I have been checking weather in the Bahamas and it looks like it could be up to 80 by the time we get out there. If all goes well that sounds like beautiful weather to me.

Welcome LISA!!!

You guys are going to have an amazing time!!! Disney is always a great time to be with family and have a great time, and add that to a cruise, and I think you guys are going to have such a fun time. I think the amount you have planned is a good amount. It still leaves you time to explore the ship and have fun on both islands. There are so many things to do on the ship it almost always seems there isn't enough time. We did the dolphin encounter in Nassau like 5 years ago. You get about 15 mins with the dolphin, not the 3 hours, BUT with that being said, its pretty amazing. People get upset that it claims to be a few hours with them and its not. But its still so amazing, dolphins are such amazing creatures. You and the kids will love it.

We are thinking of doing the stingray at CC too, haven't decided yet... has anyone done the one on CC yet??

Meet you all soon...

Well believe it or not, we would not do the "stingrays" on the stingray excursion. I have heard of folks just going there for the boat ride lunch and beach. It's a bit shorter than the others, and cheaper than the others but if it its cold that may be a good thing. If its warm I'd rather be doing the Bluelagoon one that is longer. All excursions have lunch... I am worried, though if it's windy the boats wont run to those islands...and I am not sure if I want to spend the $$$ for atlantis.

Also, I am up for some kind of meet too. :hippie:

I know Atlantis is outrageous! Actually last year we just went and took the water taxi and then walked to Atlantis... Sure we got a little lost and it took us a long time to get there, but then we used the same beach (although we never went swimming) and walked all around Atlantis...why would I want to pay to use a public beach?? Just to use their waterslide, no thanks I'll just hit Typhoon Lagoon afterwards for less money... LOL

Okay so for group meet, how does everyone feels about the day we leave?? Maybe we could do like 1 or 2 pm on the secret deck, is that on deck 7, I can't remember...and I don't actually know exactly where its at.. LOL :rotfl: Don't be upset if I'm cranky at that time, we're from the west coast and we're taking a red eye, so by that time, I'll be ready for bed!!! Last year we had it at 2, and I couldn't go because I didn't sleep AT all on the flight overnight, so I was out at 1 pm when our room was unlocked... Sad to not meet people, but I didn't want to miss out later from being sleep deprived!

Less than 2 weeks...my first Disney Cruise :woohoo:
I'm in the process of completing the online registration. :surfweb:
My DS is 11 years old. This will be his first cruise.
We want him to have charging privileges BUT we want to be able to limit the amount he spends. Does anyone knows how this works?:confused3

Thanks,
LiLi

We are cabbing over to Cabbage Beach on our Nassau day,it is just past Atlantis beach is awesome, locals are friendly. Cannot wait for the white sand and turquoise water:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Hello all- getting really excited for the upcoming cruise-glad its next week and not this with the weather the country is having. Anyway has anyone heard about leaving pillowcases with guest relations for the characters to sign? Before I make them I would like to know for sure if they are still doing this or not. Thanks for your input-
