Starting to plan a January 2026 trip for 6 nights. Open between Jan 1st - 17th. Any suggestions of dates to consider. Is marathon weekend super busy?

We’ve done January 1-7 in 2023 and 2025. Marathon weekend overlapped with new years crowds in 2023 and it was insanely busy. It was the weekend after in 2025 so it wasn’t quite as busy but still very busy.

Marathon weekend isn’t as busy as the Christmas - New Year’s week, but if you can go afterwards (the Marathon is on Sunday Jan. 11 in 2026), that’s when I’d go.

ETA - the time between Marathon Weekend in January and Presidents Day weekend in February is among the least busy times of the year.

We've done the first week in January and it was really a challenge due to crowds. We always have a good time, but it was a FULL park. We've also done the week after Marathon and it was much better in terms of navigating the crowds. If you have flexibility, later is better IMHO. Have a great trip!!

I have not seen any one comment on the weather in early January. The first 2 weeks of January may also be quite cool, and even cold over night. Lows are often down in the 40s and only in the low 50s in the mornings. BB water park was closed for more then a day or two.
