I didn't realise that you can take snacks and water bottles into the park. Do they not do a check for outside food? Are there any rules?

Ideally we would take a packed lunch with us to eat while we wait in the Frozen queue...

Yes there is security you will go through. There is a picnic area with tables and lockers on the west sideof the esplanade, outside of the bag check area-before you enter parks- You can pack food. You could store lunch for family there without hauling it around all day & Also lockers inside both parks.

We usually just pack snacks. But I've read of people bringing lunch in too-if pre-made (NO loaf of bread etc.).

I've never seen people eating lunch in line however, but there are many park benches placed to rest/sit and have lunch if you were to pack it.

Water bottles ok--no glass. No alcohol.

Oh shoot ..........
We arrive on the 21st ...........later at night. We are literally missing IASW within hours of its closing for refurb on the 22nd .
I dont see anyway we can make it into DL park when our flight arrives in LAX about 5pm . Not really worth wasting 1 whole day of park ticket for 1 ride on IASW . We have to spread those 5 day park hoppers around for our week long stay as it is !
Dang it . I thought IASW went down for refurb to remove the holiday overlay just a little bit later than the 22nd ! Wasn't it somewhere around the 25-28th last year ?

I know I was surprised by this too...but on a better note figment_jii reports that MSEP Parade will be coming back!!! Yay!!

The Parks Blog just announced that the MSEP will return to Disneyland on January 20, 2017. There will also be a special (hard ticket) event on the night of January 19, 2017 (more details will be released tomorrow, when tickets go on sale to AP holders).

YES ! That is great news . At least some of us January peeps will have a nighttime parade to see !
This will be especially sentimental for us , as we saw MSEP for one of its last shows this fall in WDW , and also visited all the floats backstage . Will be very cool to be able to see it at DL !
Our kids grew up watching MSEP (and wishes of course !) .
Will be great to see it, but also a little bittersweet for us , as we likely never see it in WDW again !

I just found this thread. I am behind on planning this year. We will be arriving January 19th and staying through the 25th at BWPPI. We stayed there four years ago and loved the location. This will be my first trip in 20 years that wasn't during the Christmas season.

Yes I understand. GRR is a very fun ride, but I also get it makes sense for it to close in Jan while colder. Crossing my fingers that splash mt stays open for my daughter. She loves that ride. Me not so much-had anxiety attack before we went over edge & made the great escape Only sharing that will you Disers

I posted an extra day...wishful thinking I guess. We leave on the 24th. Also, I have an extra reservation for two queens at BWPPI for the 19th through the 24th (Checking out that day). I have until three days prior to arrival to cancel so if someone wants the reservation, it's yours. I believe it was about $740 total with taxes. Does not include parking which is $10/night. Includes substantial continental breakfast next door at Captain Kidd's. The extra reservation is because my in-laws aren't able to come with us now.

Yay! I have been waiting for this thread. We will be there December 31-January 4th. We are in town for a wedding on the 30th and couldn't resist adding some time at DLR. We're staying at the Desert Inn.

We've had to move our trip to March, so please remove me from the list.

We'll be there Jan. 12-16 for the Star Wars Half Marathon weekend. I'm doing the Half with a friend on Jan. 15. We're staying at the Grand Californian using DVC points (but actual hotel and not VGC).

My daughter surprised me and we are going for a Girls trip for my birthday. We'll be there Jan 31-Feb 5. Not sure where we are staying yet but I'm so excited!!!

Let's just say I had a moment of fight or flight on Splash Mt...and without thinking I had a moment of panic & fled our log (and my 4 & 6 yr old girls & Hubble) right before we went over (we were next log up to go over edge). Found my self in back exit stairwell & back stage person found me quite quick- who escorted me down a back way. Shut ride down for a few. My husband still has a chuckle about it.

Hi everyone! I'm brand new here, but thought I'd chime in and say that I'm going to Disneyland for the very first time in January (I've never even been to CA!)! I'll be in CA Jan 8-16 (flying from Boston, MA) and I'm staying at the Disneyland Hotel the 9-11th. I'm beyond excited to finally see Disneyland and SoCal, in general!! I've been to Disney World a ton of times and can't wait to see how different the two are! I'm traveling out there on my own, but I believe my friend who lives out there is going to join me at Disneyland (though I'm totally fine with doing to solo if necessary). If anyone has any advice for a total newbie, please send it my way!

Oh my gosh! Now whenever I'm on that ride and it shuts down for a few minutes, I'll be wondering if someone is making a great escape to avoid the drop!
