January 2015 Car Rental Code Watch

Costco ID 7014627 plus coupon code AD2338FDF, as well as the Alamo Insider's discount.

Thanks, so if you sign into insiders it automatically gives that discount? I know I have to type in the above mentioned, but wasn't sure if I needed to do something extra for the insiders.

Thanks everyone for sharing the coupon codes, I was able to use to get for a week 4-11th for 99 from Alamo this morning. However Im crazy frustrated bc we are actually coming in Jan 3rd-11th and if I tried to book those 8 days it would have been $380 for a compact. BUT if I split up my week and booked a car for 3rd-4th, and 4th-11th it came to $50 +$99 ($150 total). Which sucks bc when my DD3 is taking a nap on Sunday I am going to have to go all the way back to the airport to check in and back out the rental car. Its worth it for the HUGE savings but Alamo said that it was the only way to get the better rate.

Today my prices are up a little with the Costco Code and $30 coupon.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. You still have a month before you leave, chances are that you will get a good deal on the 8 day rental before your departure date. Prices can change daily, sometimes hourly on the car rental sites. Just keep checking and you will probably be able to get a great price with everything in just one rental.

Thank you! Just booked Alamo with the Costco codes and got $113 total for a midsize for Jan 28 to Feb 4. Very happy!

I saw this and thought those are almost my dates. We're there 1/31 to 2/6 and I was paying $156 for a compact.

I started playing with the dates and times and after a few minutes I realized if I changed my time of pickup to 9:30am instead of 10am, the price for a compact dropped from $184 to $131. (the price had gone up from the $156 I got a few days ago)

So glad that you posted your info! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Following emmabelle's advice, I played with the times with my reservation and was able to get a midsize for Jan 24-31 for $113.

Used Costco and Alamo inside member codes.

You're welcome! I have seen this before...something as simple as a "time" of pickup changes the rate dramatically?!! Glad it worked for you!!!

I logged into my Alamo Insider's account and used Costco I.D. 7014627 and
coupon code AD2338FDF

Using the above codes/ID#, I got $108 TOTAL for a compact just now. I am going to keep my midsize for $113 TOTAL though that I booked Nov 27. My dates: 1/28 to 2/4

Just a note to anyone booking an Economy car from Alamo. When we rented end of Sept this year, we had to wait for awhile for our vehicle to be brought over. We were quite amused at all the people who had Economy cars rented since almost the whole aisle was filled with Fiat 500's.
Some really big guys shoehorned into these little econoboxes.
There was a young couple from Europe with 2 large suitcases each and carry-ons, almost everything ended up in the back seat.
There was even a family of 5 with 3 smaller kids who ended up with one of these (don't know what they were thinking when they rented an Economy), they ended up going back to the desk and upgrading to a full size when they realized that almost none of there luggage would fit in the back.

It used to work to book an economy car, and since they didn't actually have any - they would upgrade you to a larger car at no charge. But first they would try to talk you into paying for an upgrade... if you kept saying "no", you would get the upgrade for free anyway. I did this for years, and never once had an econobox. Since that era has ended, and the cost difference between the lower few classes of cars has become so small, might as well book what you need.

BTW: My rate has not gone down recently. We are in Orlando for 10 days (9 nights) at $158 total for a "full size" using the aforementioned codes.

I was upgraded from a compact to a minivan (no charge) by Budget because they said the Daytona 500 wiped them out of vehicles. I had a reservation and a credit card on file. But I agree....it's a rare thing. I find it very annoying that they expect you to wait (hours one time with us) because they had no compact cars. What is the point of making a reservation online at home months before then? Dollar did this to us about 5 years ago. Literally waited in Orlando airport for close to 3 hrs for a car and we had a reservation but refused to pay for the upgrade at the counter via the very pushy sales people.

Hi all,

I am looking for a rental car from Mon an 12 to Thu Jan 15 (3 days) and would prefer one of the outlets on WDW Property (Which I believe is National/Alamo and Avis?).

Being a Kiwi I really have no idea about US hire car codes and what is available etc so any help, codes or advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance....
