January 2013 Discounts

I was really hoping I'd come on this AM and you guys would have some good news ... Ugh guess that TA info didn't turn out to be anything?
I hope Disney isn't making us wait because they are seeing how many people are willing to book without a discount?? :(

That is exactly what they are doing. :(

Yep...I made our January reservations already hoping that I can always apply the discount. For part of our trip, DD really, really wanted to stay in the Little Mermaid room at Art of Animation. I know they've been booking up so I felt I had to make the reservation to hold it. I can always either apply the discount if available, change resorts, or suck it up and pay rack rate. I'm trying to be patient. :bitelip:

Well, hopefully Disney will also take into account that a good number of people will cancel, shorten their trip, drop DDP or down grade resort IF they don't offer a good discount! Fingers crossed!!

I was hesitant to book because of this very thing. It just came down to the fact that we are planning on the trip and I wanted to make sure the resort we wanted was available. Of course, if no discounts come we will likely drop the dining plan and do less table service, etc. to try to save money that way. It's a conundrum, really. To book and hope that a discount comes or to wait so that a discount will come. . .

I finally just booked our airfare because we were using airmiles and I could not risk waiting any longer. Jan 24-Feb 1. We just have to hope and pray for the discounts or I guess we're staying offsite.

That's what we will do. We may still do table dining but then we do more sharing and less apps, etc.

I don't think that WDW is holding off promotions because enough people are booking for January that they don't need them. In the grand scheme of things we are just a few people looking at January but there are a lot of empty rooms they'll need to fill for Jan - March, which is when I think the promo is usually offered...maybe April - I can't remember.

My guess is that WDW is still trying to push promos through December to encourage people to visit before the end of this December. I've gotten emails about the room and FD discounts through December and I even got a pincode, which I haven't gotten in forever. I think they won't release January until October. Again, totally guessing here.

Last year the January discounts first started with Disney Visa card holder discounts and that came out the end of September, then the GP and AP discounts came out a week later. Hoping for RO rates that are better then what has been coming out lately.

What's the biggest room discount you've seen for a deluxe hotel??

We go every January because my son plays in a soccer tournament.
Three years ago they offerred 45% off Deluxe and Villas. We stayed in a 1 bedroom at Bay Lake Towers that year. Haven't had a discount as good as that for our dates since.

I just called for the first time in a year to see if I had a pin attached to my name, and the less-than-personable CM replied with "Nope - nothing is there." She did, however, say "Keep your eyes open for future offers, because right now, we're only working on getting through the holiday offers. There has been nothing released yet."

Take it for whatever it's worth. :worried:

I dropped the dining plan - will be happy to add it back if they offer room discounts or free dining. But for now, I refuse to pay full rack rates for my room AND pay full-price for the dining plan. I'm remaining hopeful for a discount, but I'm admittedly less-hopeful than I was before I made the call.

Regardless, I'm just happy to be going to Disney, because it's been way too long... :goodvibes

I don't think Disney is purposely holding back the promotion, it's just that the patterns of when they're offering their discounts are changing. They seem to be shorter windows now which does make planning ahead more challenging especially when we're all used to the discounts.
I'm trying to be flexible and keep an open mind. (Let me tell ya, not at all easy for this obessive compulsive Disney planner.)

I'm sure they will offer a January discount. When and what remain to be seen, but I'm sure they will.

As my DH tells, me to do, I'm putting on my patient hat. :goodvibes

I too believe that there will be some kind of offer, but it will not be out until later this month. Last year it was the same way. I know mousesaver has their info on past offers but if i remember correctly they offered FD like they have it currently for fall travel and toward the end of the month THEN extended it to winter dates. Then in the beginning of OCT they adjusted the dates and removed some Fridays from the FD dates.

Also while i haven't been an agent for long i have noticed that most of the offers are offered to begin on Monday mornings. Not saying that they won't offer it at other times but that is what i have noticed so far.

That would be awesome! That would be a better deal than FD for us I think!

I just did the math and it would save us an extra $500 over the FD offer! Fingers crossed that WDW has a lot of empty rooms and offers this discount again

we stayed at GF in late October 2010 with 40% off pin code. It was AWESOME.. i am hoping we get something soon!

We're booked January 4-12 but can move a few days in either direction for the right discount!!!!

We finally worked out the dates, 1/2-1/8. Now just waiting for some discounts to book. Would love free dining but a deep percentage discount would get us dining! Excited to be going back!
